...then they get thrown off Lollapalooza.

They are also projecting this suicide note as their backdrop.

SUBJECT: ready DATE: July 9
I am ready to take my own life. Many bad experiences led me to this dark void that I am locked in. Maybe by my own hands? I don't really care anymore. I just wanted to say thank you for showing me the other side. the side that is locked away deep inside a person. I am mad. Mad all the time and depressed all the time. I can't take it. I'm not afraid of dying but i am afraid that I can't hear DG in the after life if there is such a thing. I don't know, but I hope your music transcends to the unknown. A place where DG's essence exists. A place where art exists. I love art. That's the one thing that kept me alive? this long. So just to ease minds, DG didn't "influence" me to do this. this is my own fucking choice. but thanks for making my life a little better. you're my absolute fave and I will fight the gods if they don't allow me to follow DG's efforts can't see Earth. Anyways, continue doing great things. I love you Stefan, Zach, and Andy.
I will be watching.

Last night, Death Grips were tapped to play an officially sanctioned Lollapalooza aftershow at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. They didn't show up. According to several reports from Reddit and Twitter, after learning that the band wouldn't play, fans proceeded to destroy their equipment, including a drum kit that was presumably Zach Hill's.

Representatives for the band and venue have not yet replied for comment. Death Grips are scheduled to play Lollapalooza tonight at 8:45 p.m. UPDATE: The band are no longer on Lollapalooza's official schedule. No official statement has been made as to whether or not they'll perform tonight.

Yes.

This isn't the first time they've fucked over fans though. Remember the mass tour cancellation so they can work on No Love Deep Web?

Yup. They've been pulling the same shit they did last year. Although their fans' reactions are rash, they should have expected something to happen for screwing them over like that.

Whatever, dude. Listen to their music before you drive-by shit on them like that.

You'd think I'd called them a bunch of scallywags or something. I've heard some of their stuff before really not my thing.

Their singer is black, so no. But I'm glad you're well informed enough to make a judgement!

My apologies it's the drummers penis. The question mark was there because it was an actual question.

It's weird as a grown-up to see a band trying to act punk. I mean, I can see how that kind of uncompromising, chaotic attitude gets them fans, but they just seem unprofessional most of the time.

Yeah, try again maybe?

Sounds like a bunch of cats knocking over garbage cans.

Uncultured simpletons.

This is the future of music. A true fusion of styles and genres. It blows my mind when people say boring rappers like Jay-Z is changing the game. He's a dinosaur. Stuff like Death Grips is where things are heading.

Although, I can I agree Death Grips is an aquired taste. Not for everyone at first.

thanks for the laugh

"Oh no, I got the expected reaction from fans for dissing their music. This is truly the worst thing ever."

Yup, exactly what happened. Came in with an open mind, didn't really dig it, get called an uncultured simpleton. The irony is I know more about musical composition than anyone who would consider this ground breaking or whatever fucking buzzwords kids are using these days. This is like 2 notches higher than dubstep, seriously, enjoy your dreck.

Even if they were "one thing" or a single genre, they'd still be pushing the envelope. The instrumentals and lyrics are progressive in so many ways. They DO make good music, objectively, even if you don't "get it". It's a fact. They are really great and truly insightful people.

Up until now, you didn't sound like a douche. Now you sound like a douche. So much whining and wah in this post. Ok you've announced your credentials and projected self importance because you're angry that someone on the internet disagreed with you, now stop.

They aren't the only ones who ended up at this sound in hip hop. Yeezus, RATKING, even EL-P have all been inspired by punk and ended up at this sound, independently. This is the next sound for hip hop.

Look, I was being theatrical. No offense intended.

Regarding Death Grips; It's simple. It's raw. It speaks to people. It's the simplicity that gives it weight. There's a certain hubris in their music, yet it's honest and humble. It captures a lot of my feelings about modern life, social media, and our increasing numbness towards violence.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say with your comment regarding musical composition. Please elaborate.

not showing up for a gig, that YOUR fans paid money to go see is inexcusable and one of the worst things you can do as a band. unless of course they have a good excuse.

It's mostly a love/hate thing. I can totally see why you won't like it upon first listen. Challenging music takes time, but it's a worthwhile investment. It's an aquired taste, and very rewarding in the long run.

Try this song. It's their most commercial track, and fairly straight forward. Still very good, and the lyrics are interesting.

I can safely say that all my favorite bands have taken me a while to get into. Some of them I even hated initially. As a musician and composer, I force myself to experience new music I wouldn't normally listen to. Otherwise I'd just stagnate creatively. Maybe it's differnt for other folks, I have no idea.

Then I'm out on hiphop.

If this is it's direction it might as well be motherfucking polka music or yodeling solos.

I think the bolded is a safe bet. I guess it isn't for everyone.

Meh, the only challenge here is forcing yourself to like it.
