Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I'm not sure about that. I have hard time to decide who would fit for Square-Enix nowaday. I guess it might be better if you have slime riding on Chocobo since both of companies merged into one and they were released their games on Nintendo and Super Nintendo.

TBH, I always preferred to see Chocobo over Slime but I'm biased since I played more Final Fantasy than I do with Dragon Quest.

Ah, I understand now!
Slime riding a chocobo would be fantastic, actually. I like that idea quite a lot!
Chocobo on it's own would be a lot of fun, too. I hadn't considered that. Especially a chocobo's dungeon chocobo.

I'm biased towards Slime over Chocobo for the same reason as you, actually, but I'm still a fan of the 'ol 'Cobos.

Seeing that Cranky mention back there makes me think every swing of Cranky's Cane would be home run smash material.
That should be an assist trophy, he hobbles slowly around the stage rambling and one shotting those that get too close, you don't sneak up an an old geezer lost in thought without getting a just punishment.

Edit: I also agree with you with starfox, minus taking falco, nobody has given me a legit reason why they hate krystal other than the hate for the furry fandom or using her as something to direct hate to for advetures and assault

That's a good enough reason on its own tbh (well, not the furry part). The character has always represented a direction that fans of the series never connected with, and if the purpose of SSB is to pay tribute to Nintendo's past and present, then it makes sense to keep her out.

Note that this isn't the same as, say, Wii Fit Trainer, whom you could also argue most Nintendo fans haven't connected with. The difference is WFT represents a unique part of Nintendo's modern history, wheres Krystal is just one (maligned) piece of the Star Fox jigsaw, which already has plenty of representation.

Eh, can we get some citation.

I can think of many situations where like one person said this, and that characters ends up being like the most popular character.

"cloud ruined FF"
" gen 4 ruined pokemon"

ect ect ect.

Also by your logic anything from super Mario sunshine shouldn't be shown because people didn't connect that one as much, or rob. Or toon link, or all the other characters that may represent things that the fans " didn't connect to as much" like the fire emblem in the west until.. now. Or so I say, sense a statement like that is subjective as all hell.

I know the game is in early development but did anyone notice that we don't have intro and victory pose with losers that would clap their hands for the winner.

Haven't noticed anything like that yet, but hopefully they keep it. It's been in almost every smash game so far, hasn't it?
I'd like to know if the point scoring system comes back as well!

Nope. For intro aspect, it was in 64 and Brawl. I don't know why it's not in Melee. Victory screen with losers applauding for winner have been in the game ever since 64.

do you honestly think Krystal is just a character just a small handful of series fans dislike?

Well, that's just what I was saying with respect to WFT. She, like ROB, represents a unique part of Nintendo history, which is a different thing than a maligned character from an already well-represented series, which people love. She doesn't add much to the pantheon in terms of representation, so when Sakurai is considering which Star Fox characters to use, obviously he would fixate on the ones whom people prefer. By the way, people love Toon Link and Mario Sunshine nowadays. The negative "gut" reaction toward those things by fans have long since evaporated.

I'm sure that we know that Sakurai mentioned customizations in the game, but he wouldn't elaborating what it is for. I think I might figure it out however I could be wrong or it could be something else.

Look at what he said,

Speaking with Gamespot, Sakurai provided a single hint as to how your customization in the 3DS game could potentially affect your characters. “Perhaps the best way to think of it is: it’s not the strength of the attacks that change—their power—but the directionality of those attacks will change with customization,” Sakurai shared.

IGN said:
“We’re planning for a level of customization to some degree and in some form,” Sakurai acknowledged. “It’s not completely decided at this point. But it’s very important to point out that we do this in a careful way that doesn’t affect the strength and balance of the characters. One thing we’d like to do is to be able to customize the direction of attacks. But not give characters a stronger jump or a stronger or weaker attack. You can consider customizations like that possible.”

Customize direction of attacks, so I would like to think that we can add or remove the platforms to the stage nor we can make our decision to pick one out of two or three static layouts that Sakurai have developed for us to pick. It would change the directions of our attacks because the platforms would be there to support specific characters. For example, there are several characters that would be good with platforms being there or not.

We know how much Sakurai make his messages vague, so we would have hard time to figure out what he planned to do but I think I figured it out. I think what he teased is that we might able to customizing the stages to suit our preferences. I'm not talking about stage builders, but I'm talking how we can change the layouts of platforms, getting rid of platforms, etc. I would rather to believe that we can make decision to pick one of few static layouts per stage or so.

It's just theory right now, but I think I may found few evidences to support my theory however it's possible that we could have Battlefield I and Battlefield II; and Smashville I and Smashville II.

Warning: I could be wrong for many reasons.
1) I might be over-speculating.
2) the game is in early development and
3) It's possible that we are getting Smashville I and II and Battlefield I and II.
4) It's possible that platforms could appear and disappear.
5) Don't expect me to list every reasons on the list. :P

Example 1:

Look at Wii Fit's Training Room, we noticed that we have two different layouts.

YtY6tAm.png

Example 2:
Look at Battlefield. Most of time we know that we have three platforms on the stage but someone pointed it out that he saw same stage without platform. However it's possible that it could be developer's testing stage.

Example 3:
Animal Crossing, we know that we have two backgrounds so we don't know how it work yet. It's possible that we could have "Spear Pillar" decision-making where they would decide to assign stages/legendary pokemon to us.

do you honestly think Krystal is just a character just a small handful of series fans dislike?

She might be. And I think she is.

To your statement about toon link and sunshine, again that depends on who you talk to, and at the time it hadn't "evaporated" Links apperence before brawl was Twilight princess the game that was supposed to iron out the kiddyness. And people were fawning over galaxy and still do. Yes WFT trainer is apart of a popular series. However as long as we are going over anecdotal evidence one whether who likes which characters, most people I talk to like or feel indifferent about crystal. It all depends on who you talk to and even then the echo chamber that is the internet can make a character seem far less popular than they actually are.

By the way she could be unpopular its just that, I heard a few people on the internet do not like her. Does not constitute a lot of people not connecting with that character.

So... Super Smash Bros. Wii U is the official title then? Ugh. We go from simple shortenings like Melee and Brawl to that? How are we gonna shorten that verbally? Maybe I'm just being a lazy grump.

so you are saying that we will be able to customize stage platforms? Am I correct?

Well, Yes.

There are few possibilities.

1) We can get rid of platforms or add platforms to the stage. It's possible that we could pick background, like Smashville.

2) Sakurai might design 2 to 3 different layouts for us to pick. See Battlefield I and II, Smashville I and II and etc.

3) We could have two different versions of stages.

On another note, is The Last Story officially a Nintendo IP? Everything seems to point that it is by looking at the credits and when compared to other similar situations like Sin & Punishment and Wonderful 101.

That's definitely one game I'd like to see represented on Smash.

So will this be the game where Yoshi's eggs finally match the colour of Yoshi?

Also a "SMAAAASH!!" particle effect should appear when Ness or Lucas land a fully charged smash attack.

I want a wrecking crew stage that is re-imagined modern so its just this giant building in the middle of a san Francisco -esque Mario city that is getting torn down by some dudes with hammers. Also DK shows up with pualine on the stage sometimes

What do you think?

I'd like Ness to get a few of Lucas' abilities and then change Lucas a bit more.

Make his PK thunder go through enemies so it's not completely useless as a recovery and make PK fire go in a straight line instead of going slightly downwards.

I'd also like PSI Magnet to have a bit more of a push effect or a Starfox reflector style knockback so it isn't completely useless against characters without energy projectiles.

I'd also change PK flash while they're at it, I don't think I've ever seriously tried using it against a human opponent, but maybe that's just me being stupid and it's actually a great move.

Also make the yo-yo hang off the edge of the stage again instead of instantly activating the smash attack if it goes off the edge, I missed that in brawl.

Guys let's predict movesets for characters

Peach gets a new up smash or at lease let her current one not have such a specific sweet spot.

Down smash has one strong hit then goes sour instead of being completely sour.

Side smash weapons get a strength buff(please) and go in a set order.

F throw returned to it's melee goodness.

A HIGHER SECOND JUMP and faster air speed.

U air can kill again and up tilt has ko potential.

All I wish.

New Donkey Kong Final Smash: many children and a paper wall appear. All of a sudden, you make Donkey smash the wall by pressing many times any button (the more you press them, the more Donkey's entrace will be strong): this scares all the children so much that their screams hurt other players. Damage: 30-50% to everyone

Peach's new standard special move blows a kiss with a floaty heart projectile that stuns the opponent. Toad is now a playable character! In his CGI reveal video, Peach cowers as Bowser approaches her, and she tries to pull Toad out for protection but nothing happens. Embarrassed, she blushes as Bowser begins laughing, but then Toad flies in and kicks Bowser in the face -- freeze frame, "Toad leaps into battle!" Cue gameplay montage; Toad runs around carrying stacks of bombs and vegetables over his head, uses spore attacks, dashes across the screen in a kart, and flies around with a propeller helmet.

(It will happen!)

That reminds me of Waluigi's Mario Kart vehicle:

That is interesting Heath. Id like to see multiple layouts for stages. It would be a great way to mix things up. The one word that is etched in my mind is directional when he talks about customization. IMO, I think it could involve the property of the attacks in the game. If it is regarding special or smash attacks, i have no idea.

As an example I'll use Fox. His side special and lazer shots don't hit as hard as Falco's. Falco's side special has a 'directional' property of a spike or meteor hit and his lasers have hitstun. What if we were able to give Fox something similar to Falco's side b or Lazer properties? The problems that would arise might cause balancing and character issues though, imagine a fox with the best parts of Falco who would we need Falco lol. Also for Mario, insytead of his side aerial spiking they could bring back docs side air as an option. just one of the ways i took it. dude couldn't have been more vague but from the excerpts its still something theyre trying out.

Baseless prediction, luigi gets gets his pack, buts is used more than marios FLUDD so his moveset will be different.
I wouldn't mind Luigi's neutral b replaced with his Poltergeist.

It is a Nintendo IP, and I also would love to see it represented, I really doubt it though :C

Haha, Awesome GIF. I can't believe that it didn't loaded last time I looked at that.

Pretty much but problem with directional is that Platforms could affect the directional of where the attacks would go since you are using it to boost yourself aka jump. He was being very vague about it. I rather to not see moveset being customization since it can lead to broken things.

Final Destination only?
EVERY stage can be Final Destination!

If it's allowed, then yeah.

Here's a post from the shocking video game facts thread that delves further into the whole Waluigi/Foreman Spike relation.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=44952454&postcount=12227

I thought if Waluigi did make it into Smash Bros, he'd have a few moves taken from the Wrecking Crew games.

Wow, awesome stuff.

Waluigi doesn't have the work ethic of Foreman Spike.

Not sure so I would like to say not for LONG TIME or waiting for Nintendo Direct.

Edited: or Tomorrow when we found out that Little Mac is playable character. :P

I think all newcomers will be announced during Directs with special trailers.

I'd be surprised otherwise. Sure hope Lil Mac's in. :(

Just curious, is the new OT going to be in Gaming or Community? And will it still work as a general, catch all Smash thread like this thread sometimes was?

Btw, cool theory about the stages possibly being customizable with its platforms.

I don't HATE Waluigi since he's a pretty funny character and definitely a more interesting character to play as in Mario spin-off games than Mario himself, but I also don't see why he deserves to be in Smash. Dude has never appeared in a non-multiplayer/party game outside of an obscure reference in PM2 and I think it says something that despite being Wario's partner he never shows up in Wario Ware either. I also feel Peach already represents some of the Sports games with her moveset, meaning they'd have to pull even more original stuff for a Waluigi moveset.

If he's in, cool, if he's not then I'm glad the extra development resources were put to another character I care a lot more about.
