Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

The Vita port for Origins is excellent. I actually played the PS3 demo and disliked it, but the Vita version let me get into it better and I blasted through the whole thing. Worth it at full price, worth it at sale price.

That's the same thing that happened with me. I tried the PS3 demo and just didn't care at all about the game. When I got my Vita I downloaded a bunch of demos, this being one, and I ordered the game right after finishing it. I don't know why I liked playing it so much more on Vita, but it was so gorgeous.

i got like 15 hours into persona 4 and stopped. the cast, voice acting and school gameplay are all super-top tier. the dungeons are painfully boring antiquated jrpg tripe.

My thoughts exactly. Thought I was the only one.

And what's weird is I'm very much enjoying War of the Lions even though its gameplay feels outdated compared to Disgaea 3. *shrugs*

I think it helped the the Vita demo is literally the first few stages in the game back to back, which greatly helps in teaching you how to play the game, while the PS3 demo is just a random assortment of levels with no real thought behind it. You just get dumped in there with no real explanation or easing you into the game's mechanics.

...Being able to use touch for the lum collecting also helped.

Huh, how about that. My guess on the PS+ button and what it does wasn't too far off.

Yeah, agreed. I had a similar thing happen to me where I only played half of the PS3 version and dropped it, but I eventually came back it on Vita and couldn't put it down from start to finish, it feels perfect on it.

As far as the dungeon crawling in Persona 4 goes, when I played it on PS2 I always tried to grind while listening to a podcast. The fights can be entertaining but there's surely a lack of stimuli if you want story and/or variety during those segments.

Man, Persona 4. Great game. This coming from a guy who used to like J-RPG:s but can hardly stand them now days.

Man, there is quite a few games coming for Vita that I am interested in but there is no friggin info when they are coming out! Gief more detailed info about X,X-2 HD, GOW Collection, Dead Nation releases. You'd think when it comes to such ports they could have announced the release period :(.

And apparently there were signs of Sly HD collection coming to Vita quite a while ago? Where is da info on that, I'd love to play those games for the first time on Vita. Supposedly the cross-buy PS3 version of Thieves In Time is available for discounted price of 13,5€ while the Vita version is 22,5€. Too much to ask for some consistency here? Makes me fear the cross-buy doesn't apply for whatever reason.

All these games will get a release date at Gamescom or after it. There are still unannounced port(Sly Trilogy probably) and some unannounced VITA exclusive games that we haven't heard about yet. We might get more info about them during Gamescom, fingers crossed.

I Signed this petition for a NHL game for the vita, particulary out of pity as only 2 had Signed before myself, awwww

started by someone in Canada i believe

That and although it probably wont make a Damn Difference, i badly want a NHL game for the Vita

Anyone feel like signing it? Even out of pity?

https://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/ea-sports-nhl-franchise-develop-an-ea-sports-nhl-game-for-the-ps-vita-mobile-gaming#

this is how we'll find vita's sales numbers in canada

Instead of feeling bad that I spent $14.69 on Rayman Origins last year and hardly touched it, I transferred it back to my Vita and finished the first few levels. Damn that game looks sweet. Plays great too. Think I'll spend more time with the game now (last year I was just too busy with P4G).

Is this true?!

Edit: Seems to be. Anyone got comparison shots? :)

Here's a .gif I made that I posted in the update thread:

This week, Asia PSN gets:

Dragon's Crown (English)
Doodle God

and finally:

HOTLINE MIAMI

http://blog.asia.playstation.com/co...2013/08/06/whats-on-psn-this-week--6th-august

This is why I switched to maining a US account on PS Vita. They get the games way earlier than Asia....I do sometimes miss playing on my Singapore account. Its got SSD, Mutant Blobs Attack and my P4G save there :C

Regarding DC, very surprised to see no online pass is needed! Most MP games on vita usually require one. Good guy Atlus/Vanillaware :D

Vita has a great set of games out for the rest of this year:

Dragon's Crown & Rayman this month. Killzone in September. Arkham Blackgate in October and then Tearaway in November. Plus Final Fantasy X at some point.

And not forgetting all the digital games that'll be released.

And Ys! How dare you forget Ys. >:C

EU release pls XSEED.

Same here. The PS3 version felt like it was a multiplayer focused game, that was a turn off. The vita one focused more on pure platforming along with this genre fitting on handhelds more and the touch screen functionality being actually neat.

Oh btw, Soul Sacrifice is soooooooo good. I'm at the point where the game is giving you lots of freedom to create your character, have tons of offers/sigils/allies and more black rites. It's a great feeling picking a mission and perform it well for picking the right strategy. It's incredibly deep and the controls are very satisfying. It's not like MH games, it is a unique game.

It needs way more love than what it's getting!

Most? I thought it was just first-party Sony games that had online passes.

Huh, i think you're right. Looked up vita online passes games and it is mostly the Sony games with multi. 3rd party dont have em.

Do not forget the indies! Lone Survivor, Terraria, Rainbow Moon, Kickbeat, Zrun, Proteus and hopefully more :D The upcoming months will be merciless for my wallet :C

RM coming to Vita? Is it cross buy (I bought PS3 version last year)?
An IGN article a few months back said that the game won't support cross-buy.

Random observation about firmware 2.60 that I haven't seen mentioned too much: you can go into edit mode from the home screen by highlighting an icon with the d-pad/analog stick and then pressing triangle. From there, you have options to move around icons with square.

Rainbow Skies coming next year, but didnt know RM is also coming to Vita, hopefully it comes to EU also (tho developer is German so it should).

Heres a pretty old article confirming a vita version: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/27/rainbow-moon-coming-to-vita-new-game-in-development

Here's a recent update bout cross buy(they're unsure as of yet): http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/05/rainbow-skies-assaulting-ps3-and-vita-in-2014-rainbow-moon-to-v/

But if theres no cross buy, the devs are suggesting giving PS3 owners of RM a discount for the vita version. Should be a few more months till it comes out.

Rainbow Moon is already in testing at Sony so it shouldn't be that long.
This is fantastic news. I slept on RM when it first came out. Now Id like to play it, but for some reason I just can't play RPGs on TVs any longer. Thy Vita hath spoilt me. I need to have access to play the game anytime I want, wherever I want!
Not to mention for grinding purposes, I like to pay as little attention to the game as possible. This frees up the tv for multitasking entertainment.

Sly4 on vita is 12.49 euro

Thanks for the news. Definetly picking this up when it comes.

I personally thought Rainbow Moon was incredibly dull. It's one of my most regretted PSN purchases, it just did not work for me at all. Absolutely 0 interest in a Vita port of it or it's sequel.

No prob :D

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. Personally, despite the immense grinding, it was a very pretty fun game. However, I stopped playing when vita version was announced. My save is still waiting to be played.

Agreed on that, my vita is now my go to device for JRPGs seeing as they take time to level up characters. The vita is perfect for that, stop and start anytime :D

Its also making me play games I never bothered with on PS3, examples Assassins Creed, those Neptunia games and that Atelier games.

i'm excited for terraria, FFX & rayman legends for the rest of the year.

grand theft auto v will probably suck up the rest of my game time.

just so i can get a gauge on your SRPG tastes....

simply rank ( using 1-2-3 next to your favorite to less liked - if never played use a 4) the following:

Disgaea
Shining Force
FFT
Tactics Ogre
Dragon Force
Heroes on Might and Magic
Valkyria Chronicles
add in any you feel as well...

agreed I view that as a strong line up... now to just know what major games are releasing in 2014.....

I just bought a Vita there last week and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm holding out hope for a P4G sale in Europe soon. Looking forward to Dragon's Crown too.

I will be picking up Dragons Crown later today. Dont get me wrong, the game looks like a lot of fun and something I will enjoy, but the tipping point for me to purchase at launch was the fact that I want to support these devs and games for the Vita.

Dragons Crown looks like it is well made by a decent group (from what I know/have read). Anyone else doing/feeling the same?

Is the framerate improved in the retail version of Sonic All Stars Racing? I thought the demo ran like ass. Almost as bad as 3DS (which is unplayable).
