This seemed great until my first prompt was "draw with your non-dominant hand." Brace for fail!

Doodled a pidgeon, a cat, a Metroid, and I saw Pacific Rim last night so here's one of the pilot suits, Knifehead and Cherno Alpha.

EDIT: Adding an actual drawing.

Statuesque multiplayer map centerpiece. That is, until you get close. When you're in range, you'll be given the option to pilot it like a mech, currently dubbed the Core Frame. Sword can fire a damageless "teleporter mortar" to get the jump on ranged foes, though it's possible to come out of the warp swinging.

There's also a headless "Dullahan Unit" of similar size that can force push infantry into next week.

Decided to give this Thread a try. Colour really isn't my strong point; I mostly only use pen to sketch things out. So most of my pictures are going to be based around using colours.

Day 1:

Done in coloured pencil. Took roughly 10-15 minutes. Character is Seiga Kaku from Touhou Project.

I've always wanted to learn how to draw, do you guys think it's possible without being "gifted" or taking courses? If so are there any resources online I should look into? Absolute beginner stuff would be great.

Skill is attainable by practice. Draw every day. You will soon learn that you will never feel satisfied with your skills. Talent isn't anything that can't be matched with dedication and practice.

Draw from life. Draw what inspires you, don't draw what you think should be inspiring you.
Your local CC/JC will probably have nude drawing classes that are a fraction of the cost of an atelier class.

I made me a cool portable ink wash brush. Well, I had done it before, but the ink in it makes all the difference in the world.

What people call being "gifted" usually involves thousands of hours of practice. So yes, it's very possible!

This. This. This.

Look at this guys work - http://trevorgrove.deviantart.com/

He's 26. He's insanely good. And this is why ..

Trevor wasn’t particularly fond of school, which isn’t unusual for creative people. He often avoided it to concentrate on bettering his drawing and painting skills. Jumping through hoops to keep up his grades afforded him leverage with convincing his parents to let him skip many days of school to draw. Their steadfast belief in his abilities, and their support, allowed Trevor the ideal environment to learn his craft.only the methods by which an artist creates work, but also the spiritual core at the center of any good art. He credits his older brother Troy most for mentoring him in his earliest development as an artist.

He was allowed to skip school to draw more!

Basically more than anything you need passion.

I was a "gifted" babby and spent most of my school years doodling with only 3 or so semesters' worth of formal art education. And I'm awful at drawing.

So, yeah, if anything starting with some artistic education right out of the gate will probably make you more talented than "born" artists.

This is a great thread. I'm pathetically poor at drawing and no where near where I'd like to be skill wise. Posting here might motivate me to keep practicing daily.

Here are a few digital sketches from the Figure Drawing: Design and Invention book. I spent a few minutes on most of them, so around 40m-1hr for this bunch. I didn't really loosen up until the end and everything feels too stiff and sloppy.

Day 1 - ~50 min.
