Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

whoa is that what shields look like?
Nah, that's Wii Fit Trainer move

It's like this.

So the last two smash games have had legacy stages from the previous games, I'm hoping that smash 4 will have legacy stages from brawl, melee (cant imagine having a pokemon stadium 2 & 3 but not 1) and 64. But what if it's just brawl stages? What are say, 8, stages that you'd like to see return from brawl?

For me, I'd want to see:
-Bridge of Eldin
-Frigate Orpheon
-Yoshi's Island
-Lylat Cruise
-Pokemon Stadium 2
-Warioware
-Skyworld
-Battleship Halberd

I think this would be a nice mix of stages to get from brawl, though I really want Pokemon Stadium 1, Hyrule Temple, Onett, Venom, Big Blue, Fountain of Dreams, Saffron City, Congo Jungle and Peach's Castle return from Melee/64.

I'd also like them to have updated textures and polycounts this time, but that's not exactly necessary.

I guess they might be same move where you have to hold B or press specific button to build up and release light ball.
I doubt it's the same move. The first picture looks like the breathing warm up thing and the pose isn't part of sun salutation. If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on it being a taunt.

They already show all of three taunts in one video and that one isn't taunt at all.

It could be her "entry" animation. She breathes and regains her balance/focus before starting the battle. We haven't really seen any of those, but I'd be surprised if they didn't come back after their resurrection in Brawl.

We saw Megaman's one so yeah they're still here.

What is Mega Man's entry animation? I don't think I've seen it... either that or I've overlooked it.
Pretty sure it was his trademark beaming in, similar to the beginning of every stage in a MM game. Think it was shown in that demonstration video with the Wii Fit Trainer reveal.

Having just finished Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, going back to the version of Luigi they use for all other games is disappointing.

I've always thought that the M&L games have the best visual interpretations of Mario and Luigi. They both have far more of a personality in the M&L games than they do in other games (Luigi in particular), and it's reflected in their character designs.

Agree with this, those 3D sections in dream team are fantastic, great colours, great character designs, great fun.

People always say that if there's going to be another character, they'd want paper mario or waluigi, but for me, I would fucking love a "Mario Bros." character similar to ice climbers, using those character designs and a M&L inspired moveset.

There's so much that they could incorporate into their moveset.

Anyone notice we don't see the health icons on-screen?

I'm not sure if it was like this for the Dojo pictures, but could stats be moved to both touch screens on the 3DS/Wii U making for a clear HUD?

Yeah, I hope that entry animation is still in the game as well.

You might be right about that but we didn't see intro during Sakurai's match.

Really? I didn't even know. Where at?

Entry animation is a good bet too. That would make more sense than a taunt I suppose.

I doubt that's why there aren't health icons on the screen, I'm assuming most of the pictures are taken from the screenshot function in the game instead of the miiverse picture sharing, which will remove the HUD.

Being able to move the HUD to the gamepad and just leaving it in the stand next to the TV would be great.

Lucario gets a new form in the same way Mewtwo does in X/Y

I'm seriously thinking both will be in the game and both will use their "mega" forms in some way, now that we know both of them have them (along with some other Pokemon that aren't in Smash)

What is a lucario mega form? Was that announced or speculation?

Oh yeah I want me some MegaBlaziken. It's time Sakurai acknowledges the REAL badass Fire starter.

dat GameFreak recognition too

This could completely change Pokemon characters in Smash, we don't even know all the Mega Pokemon yet! If Mewtwo and Lucario come back both could use their mega forms, as could a potential newcomer or even Pokemon Trainer. (if for instance Charizard gets a mega form)

Which brings me back to my ideal Pokémon Trainer:

Chikorita | Dewott | Blaziken

I don't see them changing Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon at all. Unlike the other Pokemon in the game that represent the series as a whole and the entire brand, Pokemon trainer represents a specific Pokemon game. He's not representing Pokemon as a series like Pikachu, Jigglypuff and Lucario, he's specifically representing the adventures in Kanto and the first few Pokemon games (and their remakes).

And I don't see why it should be limited to one starter per gen. Different people like different starters from each gen. They don't have to use the combination of Pokémon I chose, but it would be nice if Pokémon trainer used a variety of starters from different gens.

There any pics of 3DS Wii Fit trainer yet? I mean I know she's there but I want to see how well the clean/smooth look translates with the black outline.

Why? He represents the first generation. If he gets random starters from other games he isn't Red anymore, he's a generic character representing the entire Pokemon brand and part of why I like him and think he's the best rep Pokemon has is lost entirely.

No other Pokemon character in the game best represents Pokemon as a video game better than Red being Red with three of the most iconic starters Pokemon has ever had. It's the character that traveled around Kanto earning badges, fighting Team Rocket, winning the Pokemon league, and then becoming a hermit and climbing mount silver only to fade away and never be heard from again. He's not a nod to the anime, he's not in the game to sell plushies, he wasn't recently featured in a movie or added to advance the brand. He was in because he was Red and Pokemon sorely needed a rep that represented a specific game and not just Pokémon™ Gotta Catch 'Em All™: Lucario and the Great Seed of Courage© on DVD, December 5th brand nonsense.

I think in the mega media brand that is Pokemon, it's often forgotten that it started as a humble little RPG on the Game Boy, and Pokemon Trainer represents that part of the series. If he had random starters from all over picked because they're popular brand icons he wouldn't be Red from Pallet town from a Game Boy RPG.

The Luigi character page links to "Mario and Luigi: Dream Team"

which means both of the post-E3 character reveals have been linked to game releases.

For the remainder of 2013, we'll be seeing:

Wonderful 101
Sonic Lost World
Wind Waker HD
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
Wii Party U
Wii Fit U
Pokemon X & Y
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

I'm wondering how many of these will trigger more character reveals.

I think the new Mario game might get a Peach reveal since she'll be playable in a more mainline title for the first time in awhile. And a Sonic reveal for lost world.

So most of you guys think if Mewtwo comes back we're getting his new forme yes?

dWxFSah.jpg

CoroCoro leaked today and apparently this Mewtwo is a part of a new method called Mega Evolutions. Which from what some people are saying, can only be in seen in battle.

What are the chances of this forme being Mewtwo's final smash or something, and we get old Mewtwo back in Smash? Infact, we may even get Lucario back because he has one of these formes as well.

I don't view him as Red. I view him as a Pokémon Trainer. He can be easily replaced since it's the Pokémon that represent him. I don't really care about the intentions of representing the first Pokémon games. I view him as a way to have a unique character able to control 3 Pokémon. If Pokémon Trainer is supposed to be Red, then he should be named Red, not Pokémon Trainer.

I just think it would be far more interesting to have a variety of different starters from different gens. Not saying there can't be any from Gen I, just saying each 1 being from a different Gen would be great, especially if the Gen the Pokémon is from didn't have a rep.

Pokémon is a long-running series that should embrace every part of it in its long history in its character selection IMO.
