Woo, yeah!

The AAA title the Vita has been waiting for, but doesn't deserve.

You guys know that Birds are best selling 3ds third party game in USA ? ;)

And this one has star wars - so well yeah in terms of importance this is quite big title which should move a lot of copies giving Vita some software sales it needs at retailers.

The 3DS fanbase is quite.....different,I don't think this will move many Vitas or copies.

Why does Chie level up so slowly? I need her to learn God Fist apparently... :(

I'm now actually playing my 3DS (Luigi's Mansion) because I'm avoiding the grinding I need to do to not die on the boss of the dungeon I'm in. :\

---

I've noticed that since the 2.60 FW update that the screen will randomly just turn itself on now. That's pretty bogus.
And Wake Up Club seems even MORE flaky, if at all possible.

Forgiving sure, but it's not so easy as to discourage score attacking because you get perfect every single time.

I always thought Cytus Lambda was closer to DJMAX than Project Diva in terms of gameplay mechanics (in its heavy use of the touchscreen as opposed to buttons in PDf).

When I first saw Project Diva reviews I was disappointed at the use of buttons (coming from Cytus Lambda) but then realized how that makes it convenient to play while lying down on a bed or lounging on a couch.

So I downloaded Thomas Was Alone and Guacamelee.
Thomas Was Alone is really neat, I can see my GF wanting to play this when she eventually see's it.
About to start Guacamelee.

You're making an assumption that Sony paid for the port. I'd say it's far more likely this is about retail distribution, which is something Telltale isn't set up to do themselves. They had to work with third party distributors for the 360 and PS3 retail releases, and it ended up taking them 6 months longer getting a deal in place for the European market.

And yeah, I think it's interesting because while there have been a few exceptions like PS1-era Final Fantasy and some Disney titles, Sony has largely had a policy that they will only publish games that they own the IP for. Seeing them soften this stance, first with Jacob Jones and now Walking Dead is interesting, and means there's a far bigger field of possibilities now in terms of what Sony might do for the Vita.
The only stuff SCE publishes is stuff they've paid for. So yes, that means they probably paid for The Walking Dead, an Jacob Jones despite both of those being on iOS.

If they're PC only, they won't be playing DC with you unless you let them come to your house. At that point, you just tell them "No entry without a Vita". ;)
I'm trying to convince them to play Dragons Crown, not convince them to never come to my house again :P
Random Question; went referring to the PlayStation Vita how do you do it?

Vita,
PSV,
PS Vita,
PSP
I just call it Vita, feels right to me.
Woo, yeah!

Vita GOTY contender right there.

Sid's point is spot on. I don't think the Angry Bird audience and potential Vita buyers necessarily line up with each other. The Vita doesn't lend itself well to an impulse purchase for the general consumer.

They added a feature that the Vita wakes up from sleep mode when you get a notification, I think. That might be what's happening to you?
This is the notion that's been tossed around. Mine was doing it too last evening. All network connections were turned off though, plus I deleted all notifications, and I wasn't playing a game. Just kept coming on. Seriously weak.

So I'm just about done with Guacamelee after taking a break from gaming (except for TLoU) for the past few months and currently looking for suggestions for my next game. A few possibles:
Hotline Miami - never played it on PC... curious about how well it holds up on Vita
Stealth Inc - loved Dokuro so the general game description has caught my interest
Rayman Origins - likely will buy this even if it gets backlogged for awhile due to cheap price and raving reviews

Soul Sacrifice is the newest game I've purchases so there may be a few gems since then that I'm missing. Cash is kind of an issue right now so I'd prefer to buy more $10 games than a couple $30-40 ones.

Nope and nope.

SCEA doesn't care about Vita owners and ignores their pleas for more PSP games, more PSOne games (including Crash, Spyro, and R-Types from my list), and PS+ feedback.

I think there's probably comments on the PS Blog on a regular basis (there used to be) about these things sometimes, but I don't read enough of the comments there (and based on the fact that the PS Blog team in NA only acknowledges posts that they think are "worthy", I don't think we've ever gotten a statement on these games. But they work in EU and JP!).

I was afraid of that, but thanks for confirmation at least. I really don't understand why they haven't prioritized those games.

I don't really understand why you two don't at least like Super Mario Galaxy 2. The reason why Galaxy 2 is so great is why Origins is so great (creative level design, tight responsive controls, great gameplay, awesome visuals, nicely challenging). From a level design & creativity POV it's basically to Galaxy type more linear 3D platformers what Origins is for 2D ones. Such imagination, super-tight controls & absolutely breathtaking visuals (can't believe they pulled that off on Wii). I think Galaxy 1 was a big disappointment because you could basically just run through most of the game without any effort. But Galaxy 2 fixes that and adds a fuckton of variety & more interesting stuff.

And I've just got to say lol @ Rayman 2 being better than even the worst of 3D Marios (it's better than the incredibly mediocre NSMB DS). It's simpler, has worse level design and doesn't do nearly as much with platforming as Marios do (Marios moveset in combination with the level designs allows for so much more freedom & skillful play). I like the kind of eery, yet often beautiful & relaxing fantasy atmosphere of Rayman 2, but from an actual platformer gameplay POV, it just loses to every 3D Mario. It has way less emphasis on creative platforming challenges and it's more about just exploring some nicely cartoony dark worlds, while having to do some simple platforming on the side.

The FLUDDless levels in Sunshine alone defeat anything Rayman 2 (& 3) have to offer to the platforming genre, they are platforming bliss, and FLUDD with the better levels of Sunshine are some of the best platforming money can buy as well. And I do like the 3D Rayman games, but for completely different reasons (not because they are some awe-inspiring platformers, they do an adequate job "only" on that front, but offer a distinctive atmosphere & "good enough" gameplay instead), there's just no way it has any say against even controversial Marios like Sunshine, or at least the best sides of it. FLUDD is fuckawesome apart from the cleaning aspect (the stuff that it adds to the platforming when you really dwelwe into its uses are superb) and the FLUDDless stuff is superb as well

That said, I do agree that Rayman Origins is better than most recent Mario games (though I'd put Galaxy 2 on par, if comparing 2d & 3d platformers is allowed :P ). It's great for exactly the same reasons that Mario games like Galaxy 2, Sunshine & 3D Land are (though, I'll add that Sunshine isn't perfect, but the highest highs that it reaches with some of the FLUDD stuff & all of the FLUDDless levels are some of the highest highs of the platforming genre).
I like the Galaxy games. Where did I say otherwise? And yeah Rayman 2 doesn't touch the Galaxy games. Never said it did. Hell, even 3D Land is probably a better game than Rayman 2.

But lol at Sunshine being in the same league as Rayman 2(I only said lol because you were rude enough to do the same to my opinion). I don't think either 64 or Sunshine were very good platformers. I think both games were too open, not platorming focused enough and in the case of Sunshine Fludd was an absolutely awful completely unfun mechanic. This is the Crash thread all over again. I believe platformers are best when they're linear, pure platforming focused. That's what Rayman 2 was and that's why it absolutely murders both 64 and Sunshine imo. That's also why Galaxy was such a great return to form for the series.

i think angry birds star wars is pretty good. idk why it'd a full retail game. i'd buy it for my vita if it were priced similarly to ipad.

Hotline Miami is awesome on the Vita!

I haven't played Stealth Inc

Wait for Rayman Legends if interested in Rayman. It'll even come with 40 stages from Origins included.

The Angry Birds PS Minis release was also the best selling release on the service ever.

Publishing deals where the publisher provides a service (marketing, physical/XBLA distribution) a self-funded developer cannot do themselves, for a cut of the sales, are perfectly common. So I don't think you can simply assume how that deal is structured, or that Telltale wouldn't have given a download only release a shot without a publishing arrangement.

ok so i need a new pick up and play digital game to play alongside the few retail titles im currently trying to platinum

AC Liberation is getting really tedious even though im at about 80%

looking at either superfrog HD or Stealth Inc

a platformer would be great, and i dont like dropping more than 10 for digital only games

Superfrog looks fun and relaxing, but level design seems uninspired, jumping seems floaty, etc

Stealth Inc looks great but i hate games of the super meat boy mentality where you play the same stage over and over until you pass or get the best ranking

so not sure which one to jump on?

I think Rayman Origins at $6.75 is worth it.

Isn't it even cheaper if you have PS+? And you should really have PS+ already anyway. :)
But yes, it's worth that much. I had already platinum'ed it twice (PS3/Vita) and sold both copies but I rebought the digital when it was like $12 because IT'S THAT GOOD. It is the best 2D platformer I've played since SMB3/SMW.

Hotline Miami is awesome on the Vita!

Indeed it is, especially if you put headphones on! Best version, IMO.

For me that's a big understatement. I can't even make it past 0% and I've had the game since launch. Its just soo slow and not fun :-(

I disagree. I liked it a lot and thought it showed real potential for the Vita. Sure, the framerate got kinda janky sometimes and some of the glitches were extremely aggravating (thankfully I didn't play until after they patched the save destroying glitch), but it really felt like an AC game to me... I might have liked it more than ACII. I took the time to platinum it and had a pretty decent amount of fun doing it. I would love to see what Ubisoft can do with another year of developing for Vita under their belts...

i cleared story mode and actually sat at my desk and pushed the x button for like 10 hours straight to get the 3 stupid multiplayer trophies

im replaying all the memories now to get full synch and them just a few stragglers for my plat

yes i hate myself

I played Liberation right after beating 3. That's probably why I could put up with Liberaiton's issues, since the actual main game was that much worse by comparison.

Maybe its just me.. never really got into assassin's creed games. One day I'll suck it up and complete the game. I hope ubisofts next vita game has at least kz: m framerate.

Man i'm so sad because today i'll platinum saints row the third... :'(
I'm almost tempted to buy saints row 4 at d1(i never buy sequels of games i have and games at d1 except some games like persona4 and dragon's crown), but maybe i'm just depressed for dragon's crown being late...
I want a saints row for vita!

Yeah, it happened a couple times yesterday morning when someone was sending me a few msgs and game invites, which rarely happens on Vita, so it was actually kinda useful... even though I was getting the status update several minutes after they were sent.

I believe there's a timer setting for how long the Vita stays on before going back to sleep. Scaling down the brightness could be a good idea. I'd say go into airplane mode, but then you'd miss out on autoupdate/DL-UL for patches and saves if you've got PS+.

I'd do weird things for an open world game with cars like SR or GTA on the vita. It'll never happen though which is sad. Video game publishing is risky nowadays that pubs won't put games on a platform if they aren't guaranteed gazillion sales. Since its unlikely that Rockstar or Volition would put out, imagine a Getaway game made by GG Cambridge, native res, with planes and choppers set in today's London and three times the size of Fairhaven (NFS: MW).. A man can dream..

I'm a huge AC fan, finished each one multiple times. So I was really looking forward to playing Liberation... but the terrible framerate and the huge amount of glitches are really destroying the experience for me :(
Will still get the platinum trophy though... the 3 hours spent in multiplayer shall not go in vain!

I ask out of curiosity: What games are you considering?

heh... well this is why it's off topic - i'm looking for ciren: blood curse retail for ps3...

i've never imported though so i guess its applicable to the vita thread since there could be a point down the line when i want to import from EU for vita... might as well know of some of the better shops that do it.
