I don't see how that contradicts anything I said; Nintendo was still essentially selling the studio wholesale to Microsoft, even if they didn't own Rare outright.

havent read this thread in a while and finally caught back up, the comment about us not even close to having all the characers revealed yet kinda hit me, its kinda exciting, we got a long way to go and who knows how many newcomers are in this time
Why say that? I found SSE very dull, long and repetitive. It felt like a soulless platformer to me. I honestly had fun until the novelty wore off. I tried my best to enjoy it more but I couldn't because I was getting bored to death. I like the cutscenes though, they're great at times (this is coming from re-watching them for the first time in 5 years a few days ago)

s-so anyways, was I the only one a bit disappointed with the stage selection in Brawl? By that I mean there's only 1 new stage for Kirby, F-Zero and Earthbound. And some of the levels are kind of rehashes of past stages like Pokemon Stadium 2. I guess I just expected more.

Naa, not at all. I was disappointed by most of them. There were stages that I wanted to appear that did, but just.. Weren't so great. (Luigi's Mansion)

Nope, Brawl had some of my favorite stages in the series like Smashville, Delfino Plaza, and Yoshi's Island.

So how does everyone in here feel about using names while Smashing? Did you often use 'em? What was your "Smash Handle", and do you think they'll increase the character limit this time around?
I used them all the time when I played with my buds! I was either OLAF or PUFF. At first I was a little irked that there was the 4 character limit as all my handles in the real world were longer and more legit but I grew to love my Smash names.
I'm sure you all were able to come up with more interesting and clever ones than me, though!

In Melee, I used "こういち" which is my GAF name in hiragana. Brawl had no Japanese letters, so I just settled for "KICHI". I hope Japanese letters come back this time around.
