Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

I was under the impression only first-party titles got that discount (similar to online passes)

Nah, plenty of third parties do it too. Aksys Games are one of the few that always give the $5 day one digital discount on their stuff, but I don't think there's been a single Atlus one that's done so.

Oh, for some reason I thought it was all digital titles :(

Sadly they treat the digital as retail price wise, and there is almost no advantage at all buying digital, you'll just kill your tiny memory card, you can't resell it, and Vita retail version get cheaper way faster that PSN most of the time.

Thank God the Vita is region-free. If XSEED localizes Shinovi and pulls the same US-Digital EU-Physical nonsense as the 3DS game you can import it without a second system :)

Can I ask how does Vita work with imported Vita games? I was thinking of Importing dragons crown but i only have an EU online account and only 1 memory card. Would I be forced to create a new one and reset my memory card?

Also is the online in DC a big part of the game, since I'm really only looking for a nice traditional RPG.

Oh goodie, Toto's back!

never left (I posted here few days ago by the way), Just bought a portable tank and was(still) kinda busy with it.

No, You don't need a separated account, JP/US games will play on your EU account, you just wont be able to buy and have DLCs.

To interact with an object i have to move the cursor with the touchscreen and then pushing "X"... Lame!
Why can't i directly interact with object just by tapping on it?

Oh. That does sound a little convoluted, lol. Still think I'll like it more on the smaller screen, though.

Also VitaBros any recomendation on any good RPG for the Vita? I wanted to get Persona but I've been going through some stuff and my mom is radically opposed to me getting it cause she read up on it saying it has a rather darker and depressing (well we can just say japanese) story. So anything else out there? I was looking at DC or maybe Disgaea3?

Then you're going to be disappointed.
How so? it seems to be your typical D&D affair?

It's not the only way to play, as someone said you can "double click" on the screen to interact, or use the retro touch instead of the front one, but the best way to play imo is left analog + X.
A good game though.

Not sure why, but I'd missed your posts for awhile... was beginning to think you had abandoned us again. :S

Oh goodie, Toto's back!

Toto's a bit of a celebrity around here, isn't he? And also known mostly for his harsh negative criticism of (Vita) games.

But the thing I'm mostly interested in is the games Toto is the most fond and thus positive about.

So Toto, what are some of your, you may call it, desert island games?

Yeah it's like £20 here

Woah, that's bizarre. It's full price here in the US. Of course, it doesn't really surprise me, with it being SCEA and all. :/

edit: ^Waldo, he likes plenty of games, he just doesn't talk about them. He only talks about things he hates.

I wish sony was gonna release pupeteer on the vita. With all the games coming this fall for Vita its gonna take money away from my next gen fund. Seriously if there were a bunch of awesome games announced I could hold off on next gen and ride out with my vita for a while.

I thought we were told to "shout loud" at Yoshida to make it happen.

Mmm yessss- fast fwding scenes IS enjoyable in p4g

It takes me a long time to play through these games. When a line is voice acted, I wait for it to play out. Also, checking the screen for any animations. Also, often waiting for the music in a scene to finish too.

I usually only control party members for bosses.

I didn't mind computer control in P3FES. But I control them manually in P4G because it makes battles overall faster.

How so? it seems to be your typical D&D affair?

That really depends on what is your definition of typical DnD game. Pools of Radiance? Eye of Beholder? Shadow over Mystara? Skyrim? Etc

DC is more of a side scroller beat 'em up with level up and skill allocation elements.

Hey guys, we're giving away a free copy of PJ Monsters Ultimate HD on Vita. Just like/comment on this post here. Really wish I could've gotten more codes to giveaway but we don't have that much clout yet ;(

Can't wait to unlock long dead service cheevos on my PlayStation Vita this week.

Fruit Ninja (For PS Vita) – Swipe your finger across the screen to deliciously slash and splatter fruit like a true ninja warrior. But be careful of the bombs, which are explosive to the touch and will put a swift end to your juicy adventure!

Fruit Ninjas also uses OpenFeint, so players can unlock achievements and shoot for the top of the global leaderboards while racking up OpenFeint points. Your success will also please the wise ninja Sensei, who will accompany your journey with wise words and fun fruit facts.

lol PSBlog.

I require suggestions on the final story boss in P4G.
It's 12/08 and I'm in there to win it.
But last time my party of MC/Yukiko/Teddie/Naoto just could not do enough damage quickly to the bastard.
I read something about using MC/Yosuke/Chie/Yukiko, so I've been trying to level them up... Yosuke is level 75, so I've dropped him in an effort to get Chie to 70 to learn Godhand.
But really, anyone but Kanji (61) should be a viable party member for me, mostly... please help. I'm sick of being trapped in the TV.

Well I meant having lots of loot, some quests and distinctive characters in a medieval setting. Basically I meant DnD board game rather than video games.

Finally finished Picbox, pretty fun but the puzzles were too easy (too many blocks of 15 or 0 on the 15x15 puzzles)

I'll still pick up any new puzzle packs if/when they come (a full PSN release would be nice too! Although I didn't get all of the awards so I don't know if I'd get a plat trophy :( )

And dont forget the tiny cute blue Vita cases

I finished the December boss with a party of Yukiko, Kanji, and Naoto. I never liked Chie much as a party member (second most useless behind Yosuke for me), and Naoto is more of a mob-killer than a boss-killer. You can easily replace Naoto with Teddie and Kanji with Chie though.

I only used the girls all the time, didn't run into big problems. I think your Personas and their skills are more important.

Naoto's Shield of Justice is a really great addition against endgame bossfights though.

You should leave the dungeon if you haven't finished it already. When you finish the December dungeon, time automatically advances to 12/24 or 12/25, which costs you another couple of weeks of social linking time.

With that being said, that party composition just doesn't do that much damage. Naoto's single-target damage is awful, and Teddie has pretty much the same skillset as Yukiko without the benefit of her higher magic gain and higher SP pool. Kanji hits harder than Chie if you wanted one party member for singletarget physical damage.

But yeah, as previously mentioned, your MC's personas are probably as important as your party composition.

I have 2 personas that are worth a damn -- my trumpetter (which i fused after the first beatdown I received) and a solaris, I think, which has the 1/2 spell cost and some nice support spells like party defense up and party hit/evade up and party critical up.

Not sure if I should be finding something else as well.

I think part of the problem is it's not really weak to jack and so trying to deal damage is a bit of a fiasco. At this point, I'm not grinding kanji to get the levels up to make him useful. He's only 61 and my lowest party member.

What's the last date I can go into that dungeon and finish it then, if I don't want the date to auto advance to 12/24 or whatever? I mean, I don't really have that much to do unless I get chie's/yosuke's/naoto's SLinks to 10?

Entered and thanks! My Vita is getting shipped to me tomorrow and I love PJM (fingers crossed).

Since you already have a Trumpeter, level him until he learns Debilitate at 73 - it combines all three single-target debuffs in one spell.

You might want to fuse something that does physical damage.

The last day is 12/22, I believe. If you're intimate with one of your maxed female SLs, you can spend the day with them.

Turns out Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars works on Vita (EU PSN) despite not being available on the Vita store and sending mixed messages on the webstore. It's listed as 'Vita/PSP' but it also says 'Playable on PSP only'. Bought it on the webstore and it was downloadable through my Vita's download list, so no PS3 transfer needed.

It's basically Crazy Taxi 1 + 2 + some adhoc multiplayer modes for £3.69 so yeah.

Oh and I also grabbed Floating Cloud God HD.

Bad luck with your mother. xP
Well if you want a more traditional rpg better try maybe atelier totori. It's more about loot time management and crafting and it has a lighter story.
DC is more hack and slash with a bit of rpg.
Disgaea it dependes if you love strategy rpgs.

Well, look on the bright side. better the charger not working than the vita.

True. And Amazon is just amazing, they were willing to reimburse me the cost of the replacement AC Adapter (bought locally) gonna pay a visit to my local gamestore after school.

And no luck with scoring Velocity Ultra from psnstores/kassatsu! :( better luck next time I guess

Why can't we have nice things from the PSP era.
I hate you SCEA.

Where's my Crisis Core?
Where's my Mega Man Powered Up?

AHAHAHA, Pachter says Vita is dead:

I think if they made the PS Vita in different colors it wouldn’t sell more. The only thing that’s going to sell more Vitas or compelling software. God, I shudder to tell you how many units of Vita were sold this month, but the answer is ‘not very many’. The Vita is dead, it’s over. It’s a really great device that nobody thinks they need so no one’s buying it – it is really slick, if you get one you will like it.

I wanted to get Persona but I've been going through some stuff and my mom is radically opposed to me getting it cause she read up on it saying it has a rather darker and depressing (well we can just say japanese) story.
Depressing things happen in Persona 4, but the game is anything but.

Vita would probably sell quite a bit more if all PS4 games are able to remote on the Vita (as rumored).

Heck, that's one of the reason I got my Vita for!
