Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

I'm in target right now and they took out their Vita floor model display. Kinda weird, I live in a crappy neighborhood though so I wouldn't, from prior events, doubt someone tried stealing it.

Same with the Target Greatland in my neck of the woods. I reside in suburbia within Nor- California. I noticed the display kiosk is still there but the Vita was missing.

Hmm.

Well isn't Floating Cloud God just all sorts of adorable and oddly compelling?

Ok, I can't sleep and thanks to you I just impulse bought this game after reading some additional reviews.
Also, while I am browsing the shop anyway, why not also buy Superfrog HD? Thanks 2+2=5 ;)

Damn, I just buy way to many games for the Vita.

Why can't we have nice things from the PSP era.
I hate you SCEA.

Where's my Crisis Core?
Where's my Mega Man Powered Up?

---

AHAHAHA, Pachter says Vita is dead:

The blame for Crisis Core lies with Square Enix and their laziness to license the ending theme for digital distribution or go into the code and replace it with something else.

Is the NA version of Open Me gonna use the AR cards or that strange pattern thingy from the JP release?

Pretty sure that's not a rumor.
Yeah definitely confirmed, so you have a good feature heading your way, sir!

I hope not too. Sony DID say that it's a build in feature of the PS4. Made a leap for the Vita based on it. But damn, DC and KZM will entertain me a lot already! And I haven't even subscribed to PS+! I will eventually.

I have 2 personas that are worth a damn -- my trumpetter (which i fused after the first beatdown I received) and a solaris, I think, which has the 1/2 spell cost and some nice support spells like party defense up and party hit/evade up and party critical up.

Not sure if I should be finding something else as well.

What, you don't have Yoshitsune?

EVERY Persona 4 players SHOULD have a Yoshitsune.

Anyways, I am not paying enough attention I guess but is the Dragon's Crown already out...?

I may be the only one here feeling like this, but i wish that Twisted Metal Head On worked on Vita. I've never seen it brought up once here :( There's nothing else like it available for Vita or PSP. There was a huge PSN sale months back, crazy sales for ps3 and vita, and psp games. TMHO was a part of the sale, seemingly targeted at PSP compatible Vita games.

This is my only PSP game i reaallllly want o aee on Vita D;

Yea...it was pretty cheap so I'm not too upset....but then I am at the same time. Just with everything they were advertising for it, it seemed all psp games would work. Well, I assumed they would. And we all know about that. I could have sworn I also posted in an official TM message board months back, and the jerks there said it did in fact work. Liars!!

Guys I have a question about Persona 4 Golden

Caution: endgame spoilers (kinda)
I'm in the dungeon with Marie, on the floor "Memories of Anger" and am wondering if I use a sacred branch to escape the dungeon, it'll bring me back to the main lobby thing right? Can I save and come right back to the floor I was on or will I have to go through all those levels again? I haven't played this game in forever and just picked it up again today and can't remember, and don't wanna look up a walkthrough or anything because spoilers and whatnot but I wanna go to bed!
thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

You'll be given an option as to whether to return to the floor you were last on, or to start from the first floor.

I wish there was an MMO on Vita. I feel like there should be an open world, seemingly endless game that I can lose myself in at night, in bed. Kind of like Skyrim on PS3.

I find it strange that you guys buy so many Vita games. And lots of "ok" games, too.. I don't know, I only buy Vita games that are exceptional or that really, really appeal to me.

Having my weekly "can't believe there's no way to organize/filter your download list" tantrum.
The day that gets fixed, is gonna be a happy, happy day.

What games are you referring to? If you only bought "exceptional" games, you wouldn't have a lot of games on any young platform.

Feel the same, especially after the Everquest Next hype. Grinding some mobs in bed would be nice.

by referring to, do you mean the ones I've purchased?

I think what I'm trying to explain is that I don't spend a lot of money buying new games that come out on PSN for the Vita. I play what I get on PS+ and I buy a FEW games (Hotline Miami is the only one I can think of actually). But things like Superfrog HD...... I just don't understand.

I did purchase a few games for myself at the launch and last Christmas, but that's it.

(about to sleep so that's all until tomorrow)

PSO2 :(

I find it weird SOE hasn't tried to port a mmo on the vita.

I'm pretty surprised that they didn't bring DCUO over to the Vita, considering it's a SOE game and it looks like it still has a lot of life it's going to the PS4.

But other than Final Fantasy XI, PSO2 and, like, Defiance, what other console MMOs are there?

I wish that they would bring Dust 514 to Vita. There are a lot better shooters to play on the PS3, but it could find a better and more stable community on the Vita due to the lack of FPS's in general.

Priority. After renewing my PS+ sub, all these old PS3 PS+ IGC games have risen to the top of my download list. Such a pain
After seeing that privacy settings update for trophies. Maybe there is hope after all.

Superfrog was a classic platformer for the Amiga, so it makes sense that people will want an HD remake.

You just don't buy many games. That's fine. Some people do. I have about 75 Vita games and I'm happy with about 80% of them, and extremely happy with a good 60%. I have broad game interests (on the western side at least).

I noticed a couple of times you specifically mentioned the Vita that you don't buy many games for. Is it that way with other platforms, or is it only the Vita that you wait for "exceptional titles" before you make the purchase?

I am pretty sure it isn't as easy as we think it is. The vita is pretty powerful for a handheld, but it is underpowered compared to a PS3 or 360. In addition, you can pretty much guarantee a sizable enough HDD in every PS3, but to date, the vast majority of memory card pack ins are 4gb for the vita, clearly insufficient for an MMO.

It seems to me that you are not the type of gamer who tries different things. There are plenty of people who do, that's why they buy all sorts of games. And there are plenty of different games to try on the Vita.

IMO, if you stick only to games that you typically play, or only games that other people say are 'exceptional', your gaming experience is lesser because of it. There is a lot of different stuff, a lot of different gameplay experiences that are worth trying that doesn't fall into that category.

What are the must have PS1 games? I'm really having a great time with Chrono Trigger.

I missed out on the a lot of the PS1 games as I had the N64.

I don't know about the rest, but my mind was blown when I first played xenogears way back in the day. I have no idea how it holds up today though.

Yeah, I agree. I know the install for both of those games on the PS3 is a bunch of gigs, so it probably wouldn't be feasable, even if they were stripped down (and even then what would be the point?). But PSO2 runs fine on the Vita (from what I've read, at least), so it's not like it's improbable?

Basically what I am trying to say is I really, really wish the PSO2 localisation happened.

PSO is not like a typical MMO though. Its missions are instanced, rather than having a huge persistent open world. If MMO games are to come to the vita, I'd imagine that will be the easiest way to do it.

If you love Chrono, pick up Final Fantasy 6,7,8,&9 6 is kinda slow but it's the best one, and 9 is also kinda slow but it's awesome. 8 is my favorite and looks great on dat OLED.

I'd also recommend FFTactics (the psp version is best), Metal Gear Solid(you have to transfer it from ps3), the ps1 megaman games if you're into them (I like maverick hunter X on PSP the most), Harvest Moon Back to Nature is my favorite harvest moon game and it's so damn good on vita to pick up and go. I'm sure there's more, but those are just the games I have on my Vita right now.

Edit: Holy shit and how could I forget Cho Aniki. Very good if you're into manly things.

Thanks for the help, guys -- turned out grinding was the key -- that and the Trumpeter that I had grabbed. Instead of doing 60-250 damage, I had instances of people doing 800+. Made the battle much more managable.

Now I'm in January and I'm irritated because I have about 2-3 personas I want to fuse but I'm not a high enough level and don't have enough cash to buy the 4-6 personas needed. :lol

Hmm.

Both the PS3 and Vita demo stations were gone in both Target stores in Visalia in Central CA. I saw a PS rep take them out in one store, but I didn't ask why.

I wonder what's going on with those.

That's odd. :/ Aren't Vitas supposed to go on sale next week at Target? Maybe they're clearing out stock or something.

Who knows. Seems too early for a redesign and kind of useless too since nobody has many complaints about the Vita hardware.

The vita hardware is good, but there is still room for improvement.

I would like a higher capacity battery, larger face buttons, less sensitive touch screen, brighter screen (Sony has a proprietory lcd tech where they have additional white pixel so the screen is more visible in daylight), a smaller back touchpad that is 1-1 to the front screen and so on.

I know this quote wasn't towards me, but I usually wait for exceptional titles or at least ones I am hyped for. More often then not I wait for a sale or a price drop though. Between PC gaming (steam sales), PS3, 3DS, and Vita I just have too many games. I have a few companies I support as best as possible, but otherwise I just wait it out. I have enough to play until a price drop occurs. I'll do the same with PS4, and I dont intend to get one for at least a year.
