Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

they rejected SFxT even after they fixed the game and adopted injustice.

i think those are two valid counter points

Seriously, it's an awesome game. Whatever reason they had to reject it, it doesn't take away that it's darn impressive, filled with content and it's a high quality fighting game. You'd be silly to miss out on it now if you haven't played the game yet.

EDIT:

Talking about DoA5+

Hey Vitabro's and Vitacats!
Long time no update.

I am so stuck at so many games.

Been Playing Soul sacrifice. So Stuck at Illecebra! First it was Cerberus! This game is making me so uhh!

Also picked up P4G after a long time and managed to finally finish
naoto's dungeon
today. So things are all well in the town for now.

Stuck at Jaguar Javier in Guacamelee
should had waited for a sale too

Stuck in Oddworld: Strangers Wraith at Packrat Palooka

Stuck at patapon on one boss.

Stuck in FF7 at grabbing a chocoboco. It gets irritating lol

I am so effed up currently!

Seeing that sale makes me sad as day one supporter of digital games on Vita. SS is a steal at that price get it GAF.

Ooh I just remembered I have $12 left over on the PSN. Anything amazing I can pick up for that? Anything to wait for?
whatever comes to mind, thanks

i know that person is into DOA5, but the fighting engine really can't compare to the 2 capcom games on this particular sale.

I think injustice would be a better argument, though i would disagree.

It is the better game. Cross-play, much better story mode, lots of unlockables, and (not the least of which) much more accessible and fun to play.

Unless you become a master at Marvel, you'll find yourself sitting there hoping to get a single punch in while getting clobbered with 70+ hit combos left and right. DOA5 isn't so singularly focused on long combos that newbies can't enjoy it.

It's really the best fighter of the generation, and as a person for whom tits do zero sexually, the bouncing melons aren't a factor. Not sure how people can get into Tekken or Marvel when games like DOA and SC are so fluid and damn fun in comparison.

I feel like a kid stuck with divorced parents. XD

Loving you guys' input though.

And I don't reall want to get both because I'm only going to play one. If I get both ill just put the other one off and never get to it.

I don't base my stuff on the FGC as I disagree with both of these. I think SFxT is fun, even if it's not a "competitive" game. I also dislike Injustice a lot... like have trouble putting it into words.

That said, I'm more likely to spend $10 on DoA5+ Vita than give any money to Injustice Vita. ;)

DoA5+ is a technical marvel on Vita. 60fps, looks good... it's a well done game. I just don't know if I can get over my dislike of the characters and fighting systems.
That said... how big is DoA5+ on Vita? Most fighting games are fskcing large... :\

i can't remember another, single game where I sucked for a long time but never lost interest to just give up. even when I would get spanked in marvel i still found the game ridiculously enjoyable.

if someone pulls off a very good move or makes a great read and surprises me, i give them a lot of credit.

watching a guy from russia do Zero's lighting loops to kill my character, I was so flabergasted that I felt the guy should automatically win the match. i mean, he did, but that's not the point i was making

edit : i personally love SFxT and don't care for injustice or MK. Then again, I think im still #2 on the leaderboards for SFxT on vita so me hating it would just be funny.

Just saying but buying Tecmo game probably means getting more games in future while buying Capcom game results in looking at Capcom middle finger

I loved MK9. Still do. I just think Injustice is such a step backwards that I can't believe NRS spent about 2+ years making it.

P4G spoiler question time:

End game stuff... do not read unless you're in January and know about the optional dungeon (in detail):
So it's like January 12 or so... I got a phonecall from Margaret saying "work on your social links, I'll call you when it's time to go to Marie's dungeon."

My question is this: Does the game automatically intercede and bring me to Marie's dungeon now that I've triggered it?
How hard is her dungeon?

Just saying but buying Tecmo game probably means getting more games in future while buying Capcom game results in looking at Capcom middle finger

Valid point... but if Tecmo is going to give me more terrible ports like NGS2+, then no thanks.
Also, while I wish Capcom would support the Vita better, having a portable UMvC3 or SFxT is worth the money they're asking. Especially since all the DLC is cross-buy (and even better, buying SFxT for Vita gets you the $20 set of 12 characters on PS3 if you didn't already own it).

I'd get DOA5+ if not for the fact that Ultimate is imminent and I feel I'd appreciate the game a lot more with an arcade stick on a console. Shame as the Vita port seems solid.

When I try to select the adhoc multiplayer for Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, it just turns off my wifi and says the WLAN switch isn't on. Never had this problem with a PSP game before.

Isn't it coming to PC anyway? I've not been following the project
Well, yeah. Devolver is probably publishing it or something.

Well, since you already exprienced P4G. Imagine P4G but without the looming mystery over your head. It's kinda like that. It's an easy going game, with emphasis on character interaction, exploration and alchemy (a lot on alchemy).

You play as Totori who is an upcoming alchemist living in a village in the middle of no where, she wants to become and adventurer in order to find her mother, who's gone missing a long time ago. It's a very plot light game, almost refreshing after all the "save the world" games.

There's a lot of time management (all your actions take some time but it's not as restrictive as the previous game, so there's a lot of freedom and the time limit are very generous), a lot of exporing the map and gathering materials, fighting monsters that are in your way, meeting new friends.

It's a very cute game... I'm not sure cute is even the right word and moe is a bit too harsh. Bottom line is beautiful illustrations and Totori is charming. :)

Little King's Story is an alight game, it's a bit hurt the the slowdowns when you have a lot of troops but you do get used to it and it's quite enjoyable.

Marie's dungeon will trigger automatically after a certain event and you will be brought to a lobby similar to the regular TV world. Curiously, you will have access to Daidara's, the Shiroku Store and the fox's HP/SP restoration service. Why? Because you must beat this dungeon in one stay or you will fail it.

Furthermore, none of your equipment or items will carry over into the dungeon proper. To survive this dungeon, you will have to make use of the items and equipment you pickup during exploration. This means that this dungeon can be considered the most difficult one depending on your party's base stats.

It's automatic.
The dungeon's actually kind of tough, but that's more because of the gimmick associated with it. There's not really all that much you can do about it, outside of having Rise maxed.

Well I've decided I'm not getting Ridge racer at all. Game looks really bad (going by the game trailers review).

So I'll be getting King's Story and a fighting game for sure.

If it wasnt for Dragon's Crown I would get Muramasa too.

Really wish I would have held off on buying stand alone MGS3. I've only put in 3 hours and I bought it a year ago.

This fucking blue LED is now annoying me at times and I'm a launch owner.

It was legitimately putting me off buying one when I was considering buying a Vita. Specifically due to the fact that the black Vitas seem to only have transparency for the logo (at least mostly) which looks okay, but the white Vitas home buttons are entirely transparent and glow blue all the way through which looks awful by comparison.

i dont know what its like on the black vita, but in dark room it illuminates my entire white vita... its horrid.

sometimes i try to play the games with my thumb covering it ! haha.

Silent Hill Book of Memories is not a Japanese game, yet it's prominently featured in a "games by Japanese developers" sale.

You are really starting to be Toto Jr.

*sob* SCEA is so stupid they have put a non japanese game up for sale so I can buy it cheaper. *sob*

Yes, it is a stupid mistake. Is it a mistake worth crying over all day? Not really...

Enjoy your sale Americans.

Well aren't both Ridge Racer and Silent Hill Japanese games series? Seems a bit silly to get worked up over a technicality

I don't mind that as much, it's like a nightlight..

But this right here though. Blech!!

I never notice the blue LED and I have a black Vita. I don't see how it can really be a problem, since during gameplay you end up covering it with your thumb when you've got it on either the d-pad or analog stick.

I miss when the light only lit up when there was a notification or the Vita was charging.

I feel like the firmware update that made it stay on when the device was out before the Vita launched in NA and EU. Maybe I'm misremembering.

Shahid tweeting with the Papers, Please dev makes me really want to hold off buying it on Steam.

I guess Papers, Please on Vita would probably be pretty heavily touchscreen based, too. Hmm.

...

But it says "PS Vita Game Sale Celebrates Japanese Developers"
Presumably they pitched the sale to publishers, and Book of Memories was among the titles Konami was willing to discount. I'm sure someone at some point during someone realized that that game wasn't developed in Japan (and neither was MSG 2&3 HD if you want to be pedantic), but what were they going to do? Have fewer games in the sale?
