the best

Every time I see that Miiverse post referenced, I want to personally find that kid so I can give him a loving but firm bonk on the forehead.

I don't necessarily want Wonderful 101 characters in the game, but I wouldn't be mad if we got them lol. With that said, I don't see why they are deserving of a spot based off one exclusive game lol.

EDIT: I agree, assist trophy at best. At least people have quieted down about that Bayonetta nonsense, lol yuck. And Rayman? Come on now guys.

It's not just "one exclusive game", though. Platinum are developing the Wonderful 101 but Nintendo own it. Wonderful 101 is a new Nintendo franchise and Smash Bros. is about Nintendo franchises so...

They make about as much sense as Captain Falcon (who only had two games at the release of the first Smash), Ice Climbers (who've only had one ever) or Wii Fit Trainer, or other suggested newcomers like a Xenoblade rep.

I am kinda preferring the outlined look of the 3ds version all of a sudden. Didn't care for it when it was revealed. WiiU version looks great but not really anything new or fresh.

it might not happen though considering Sakurai's comments that he wants to add surprising, non fighting type characters. Otherwise he doesn't see a point. In putting them in their regular role. Though I think we could see something from W101.

F-Zero - multiple games, Nintendo EAD, Shigeru Miyamoto
Ice Climber - Nintendo R&D1, included specifically because Sakurai wanted an NES character
Wii Fit - multiple games, Nintendo EAD, Shigeru Miyamoto, has sold over 40 million copies

I'd say those properties are infinitely more significant to Nintendo's history than Wonderful 101.

Well hey, if they need to have been touched by Miyamoto's God Hand or sold 40 million copies to be considered I guess we'll never see most of Nintendo's newer and developing franchises in Smash Bros. I look forward to Goomba, Moblin and Waddle Dee joining the roster instead.

Which of Nintendo's newer and developing franchises haven't they used at this point? Wonderful 101? Xenoblade? Hell, as far as we know those are all one-offs and not franchises.

Erm. Sakurai.

Sakurai could have added characters from "newer and developing franchises" like Golden Sun, Custom Robo, Drill Dozer, and Starfy to Brawl, but all we got was Olimar. I'm only trying to suggest that you keep your expectations in check. Just because something's new doesn't mean it's important.

I know Sakurai is the Smash man. I was talking about Ryce using "Shigeru Miyamoto" as criterion for a character being eligible for Smash.
I never said Miyamoto was a criterion for being in Smash -- it's an indication that a game will probably continue to be important to Nintendo. There's no way Wonderful 101 is on equal footing (in any context) with F-Zero or Wii Fit.

I remember having a conversation with my brother and friend about Rayman being in SSB4. We all thought it was a high possibility, but that was when Rayman Legends was a Wii U exclusive. Now, I kind of lost hope, but the Mario and Luigi costumes sparked my hope a bit.

What he's saying makes sense. Every series in Smash Bros. represented with playable characters is either a core Nintendo franchise, a major Nintendo franchise at the time the games came out, something old added just to represent old games, or a non-Nintendo series.

I think comparisons between The Wonderful 101 and F-Zero (came straight from EAD and was very successful around the time the first SSB came out) or Ice Climbers (the amount of games it had is irrelevant because Sakurai just used the Ice Climbers character to represent third-string first-party NES games) are off-base.

Oh, I know not to expect anything. I just don't think things are complete impossibilities either and Wonderful 101 is as valid a possibility as anything else.

Why can't he want specifically a Wii U character though? I don't think it's very likely, but it could happen following a similar logic as the Ice Climbers, only, rather than classic representation, they'd be going after a modern one.

Are we seriously going back to the "this character definitively won't be in because of reasons" part of the cycle again

The game won't be out another year or so, every topic that has been discussed will be brought back up again. At this stage, complaining about this type of stuff makes no sense.

It's not just "one exclusive game", though. Platinum are developing the Wonderful 101 but Nintendo own it. Wonderful 101 is a new Nintendo franchise and Smash Bros. is about Nintendo franchises so...

Wasn't F-Zero created entirely by Nintendo? I know SEGA helped them for one game, but that was the Gamecube title.

I just figured an IP created by a third party wouldn't be a huge priority. But you make a good point that the IP is owned by Nintendo. But I think if there was a hint of them in Smash we might've seen it by now. But who knows.

Had an idea for Wario's Warioland-themed moveset

Down Special - Shake Punch (WW: Shake It) 1:05

Up Special, Tiltable - Cannonball Crash (WW: Shake it) 1:36
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_dfMju8SY4g&t=98
*On the ground, he takes off running, crashing into things. In midair he goes flying head first like a missile

Forward Special - Sholder Charge (WW games) 0:02
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_dfMju8SY4g&t=5

Neutral Special - Bomb Throw (based this off Double Dash, and Wario's own mischevious nature)
Throws a bomb as a projectile, cooldown is a tad slower than Mario/Luigi's Fireball. Stronger, has a potential misfire, may blow up in his hand taking off 5%

Down Throw - Piledriver (Wario World)
Wario jumps up and slams down with the opponent head first

Up Throw - Shake Toss (WW Shake It)
Wario shakes the enemy quickly and tosses them straight up. An added Easter egg could be coins would fly out of the opponent

Foward Throw - Charged Toss (Wario Land games)
Grabs the enemy and charges up to throw them. Tiltable

Back Throw - Wild Swing-Ding (Wario World)
Wario can also swing an enemy around at a very fast speed, taking out groups of other enemies

Neutral Combo - Wario Punch (Wario World)
A jab, straight, followed by a headbutt

Up Smash - Uppercut (Original)
Wario performs a strong uppercut that lifts him off his feet onto his toes. Charging the move will result in Wario with his fist over his head, spinning it around to gain momentum

Forward Smash - Headbutt (Original)
Wario winds his feet up in the 3 point stance and launches himself forward slightly with a devastating headbutt

Down Smash - Spinning Lariat (Original)
Wario outstretches his arms spinning around, Zangief style. Becomes a little dizzy afterwards

Side Tilt - Wind up punch
Wario winds his fist up and lets loose a haymaker

Down Tilt - Clipping blow
Wario throws a hooking punch at his opponent's legs, may trip on lower percents

Up Aerial - (REMAIN THE SAME)

Wario falls butt first. The higher he is the more damage it takes off upon contact with opponent. Can meteor

Forward Aerial - Jump Kick (Original)
Wario kicks forward with one of his stubby legs

Neutral Aerial - Bellyflop (Smash Bros Brawl)

Back Aerial - Back Punch (Project M)

And someone said Captain Falcon can be replaced. Smash was the best thing to happen to Falcon and I don't think anyone with a sane mind would want him gone.

You are, if you think any of that actually represents the character as he's actually potrayed in Smash :P

nevermind the fact that his entire anime used the falcon punch and nintendo is not blind or death, they know why captain falcon is as loved as he is, its insane to even think he would be gone at all

oh dear god, if rayman is in i'm out.

not really but that would be disgusting.

Ugh, Rayman. I don't want him in after what happened between with Ubisoft.

I'm trying to think of Wonder Red's Brawl equivalent -- Isaac, maybe? Basically, a character that isn't likely at all, but the online community convinces itself that the character is a shoo-in and acts like it's a tragedy that they didn't make the cut. You guys are only setting yourselves up for inevitable disappointment.

Established franchises are safe bets for new characters. There hasn't been a second-party series truly worth representing since Fire Emblem was introduced in Melee. Wonderful 101, Sin and Punishment, Custom Robo, Captain Rainbow, Chibi-Robo!... they're all small-time. I know I'm mostly alone in feeling this way, though. It's just that I'd be very surprised to see a new playable franchise introduced that isn't EAD, R&D/SPD, or third-party.

Yesterday, I played Wonderful 101 and I don't think he will ever make in the game as playable characters. It's more likely that they would go with trophies or assist trophy.

xenoblade characters would be the only characters with only one game i would accept. but only because the game was so bloody good.

Well, it is possible that Shulk would be in new X.

And someone said Captain Falcon can be replaced. Smash was the best thing to happen to Falcon and I don't think anyone with a sane mind would want him gone.

Indeed.

Huh, what's wrong with Captains representation in Smash? Lol. He ain't goin' nowhere, and is fine the way he is. I can see Ganondorf's representation being more of an argument.

Captain Falcon drives a space car. So it makes sense that Sakurai made a moveset for him out of the blue. Hell, Falcon Punch might as well be Smashes signature move, and people stuck with it. At least his Final Smash was a reference to what he actually does.

Ganondorf is almost nothing like he is in the Zelda, that was my only point. It'd be cool if his moveset was a one handed blade and magic combination instead of being built off Captain Falcon. I'm not even upset or disappointed about his representation, I enjoy using him. I was just saying it would make more sense to knock on that than Captain Falcon.
