Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Ridge Racer is sub native res and runs at like 20fps and has almost no content, hahahah. It's still fun though and the music is still great. I'm tempted to either download a DLC pack or get Type 4.

Did you play post-patch? It was a solid 30 when I played.

Damn was just considering this game too...really runs that poorly and is sub res?

Yep that cable fraying happened to me too.

It has been solid for a long time. Campaign is bad even with DLC, but the game is decent if you need your ridge racer fix. If a lot of that is campaign, you'll get limited enjoyment.

Katamari is a buy, yes the dlc levels (9) take ages to get for free but the game is a lot of fun

the Sly Cooper Vita port really disappointed me. The game looks very nice on the PS3, but it looks fairly shitty on the Vita imo.

I have both but never ran the PS3 version (which may be why) but I love the Vita version. I was pleasantly surprised after people said it didn't hold up well. Just makes me look forward to maybe checking out the PS3 version one day. Only thing that keeps me from loading it sometimes is the long loading, but big levels.

Need a racer fix but guess I'll wait for Sonic.

Hmm. So the Katamari DLC aren't free yet?

Just wanted to stop by and say hi, prompted by the eminent @wilflare. Eager to find out more about the Vita - we just released SteamWorld Dig on the 3DS eShop, and are looking for possible platforms to port to. You all seem very cool - thanks for having me!

I just bought it. The frame rate is definitely spotty. I do remember people complaining about it being even worse at a launch, but it still doesn't seem like like it's 30fps at all. Especially on that track with the cows.

hmmm....^ weird, has been a while but it really felt silky when I last tried it. I remember reading complaints so I booted it up. Will try that cow map again later...different memory card

Sonic is awesome, I don't play Ridge racer much.

I doubt they will ever make TMK's DLC completely free. You can get them using in-game collectable items. It's just they rarely popup. I've managed to get most of the levels, DLC stages aren't bad either.

I had a lot of fun with the game, was tempted to buy the extra music soundtrack dlc.

Looks great!

Vita is perfect for platformers

I sent you a tweet about me reluctantly buying your game on the 3DS despite not enjoying playing on the 3DS hardware (too small for me, dpad is not in an ideal situation, screens are low contrast and low-res). Your game has made me look past the subpar 3DS hardware. I'll say it again: I will double dip in a second if your game comes to Vita. It's fantastic. I'll let you know that we Vita owners love to buy games. The Vita attach rate is 10 games per system!

So how much content is there in Ridge Racer without buying DLC? It's the only Vita retail game I don't have, which makes it sort of tempting, but at the same time...is there no campaign mode at all? Is it just a few tracks and lots of online?

Breakquest: Next Evolution is FREE if you didn't notice... only PSVita version. :)

That's because it's a F2P game -- you get 33 balls, and you pay if you want any more. It's something like $7 if you want to unlock unlimited balls.

^ Both look good, definitely getting them for Vita even though barely play them elsewhere. They seem too good not to have available on Vita.

like 3-4 tracks? iirc

the campagin makes use of them...but not retroactively with the extra dlc stages, which is why it sucks

time trial with ghosts and online races

it's pretty bare bones without dlc, even with it doesn't feel like an awesome rr1/2 on the psp due to campaign gimping, maybe series staleness

edit: i should mention the downloaded ghosts aren't offline compatible - might be to do with point system...still annoying for a portable game

Hmmm...so $12-13 if you want the full game? Ah, why not. The completist in me is curious about it.

Thanks for responding!

Yeah it's pretty cheap to resist, nice music tracks and it's decent ridge racer gameplay once you jump in. Worth it for the complete set, it's not awfulware or anything. Yep, I'd get the DLC too for sure and no worries!

Question:

Malicious Rebirth? Is this still coming to NA?

I preordered TWD at GameStop, which surprisingly it's getting a physical release at $24.99. Wanted the game, but not digitally - save space on 16GB.

I'd totally pick this up if Vita got a port.

I'll doubledip on this game when it comes to the Vita too (note that I used "when" and not "if", I putting plenty of hopes in here :P)

the Vita screen, Dpad (the hardware in general) makes it fantastic for platformers. As much as I enjoy the 3DS library, the 3DS control hardware leaves much to be desired!

stay around with us, you'll find that the VitaMuffins are full of flavors :P

Sure they are -- you just need to play a fuckton of the game to get them free. :lol
Seriously -- you grind one of the special items and you can trade 10 of them for a DLC stage.

oh snapppp spelunky and terrariaaaa come to meee

YESSSS!

Question:

Malicious Rebirth? Is this still coming to NA?.

Should be. It just takes forever. The first game was out in JP for more than a year before EU got it. Then another 3-6 months before NA got it.

Seriously.
Released in JP 12/10/2010
Released in EU 03/08/2012
Released in NA 07/24/2012

More of SCEAs blatant incompetence showing through.

And with all that, since NEWSFLASH -- The Vita is less powerful than the PS3 -- It will probably have the same (or worse) iffy framerate.

How much worthwhile dlc does touch my katamari have? Wondering if that $4 buy will end up much bigger.

I think there are about 10 DLC levels.
Free download. You aren't REQUIRED to buy anything... you just have to grind the candies or whatever it is to unlock them. I think I've only unlocked 2 of them at most?

The most annoying thing about it is that you have to download each one separately. :\

Show some reviews and its look good I'll buy a vita version if priced reasonably also you should try and get in contact with shahid he work with SCEE and is crazy about the Vita

My charger has that same tear that you guys from the last page have as well.
Add another to the torn charger list
Why don't you guys get the charging cradle? They can be had for really cheap now (in the US, at least). I rarely touch my cord.

I know man. Game is amazing. Played it back in February on Wii U, and just download the PlayStation Plus version.

Yes, it is. I'm coming from the original beat.trip stuff on Wii so this is like having my vision restored after a freak accident. Just a delightful game.

I wouldn't say painful compared to PS3 but definitely a pretty big step down.

Fair enough. Part of the reason I've always liked Sly is the charming art direction. That's totally lost on the vita version. The graphics are serviceable at best. I believe Sanzura was responsible for the HD collection, which they totally hit it out of the park. Really a feast for the eyes. So, yeah, the contrast is jarring.

I remember hearing about this for 3DS. I would definitely buy this for Vita.

Sony needs to give me some brownie points for this

The facial reaction on the right is perfect.

Get the rest by playing the game...certain stages can generate them faster..you'll need more :P

I can give more detail but will be a few days.

the last one is really really different

I miss the cel shading and the 60fps, but I thought it still looked quite nice.

How many levels does the main game have? And are the DLC levels brand new or from older games? Leaning towards purchasing them since katamari is more of a pick up and play for me rather than something I'll be grinding.

If Dark Souls II doesn't come to the Vita, I may just kill myself.

-IMAGES-

Those jaggies don't do the game any favors either. They could have at least used FXAA/SMAA.
And maybe it's the screenshot compression but those HUD bubbles in the bottom corners look like shit.

It's going to be asked a lot later but you can't get the special items by retrying a stage in Katamari, you have to go back to the king.

I found the diet stage to be really good for it as it tells you straight away if there is one or not. especially good with the endless mode unlock for the stage. It's a nice game to have. I keep it on my main card anyway.

some dlc levels are brand new, not sure on the specifics of the rest, perorist, but there is a katamari forum with a section for the vita game.

-in the live screen for the page recently the king posted a message not too long ago saying thanks for playing etc and not to buy too many of the special items. Yeah, np, stingy ass mofo. - although...decent sale price :p

Its just so unnecessarily large on ps3 for me to download. It's literally over 20gb. Same with the file sizes of the sly collection which sanzaru also worked on. Just way out of proportion for what is really not a heavily hardware intensive game.

How is Muramasa Rebirth? I've got a 10 hour flight to Germany coming up next week (and a 10 hour return trip) and am looking for something new to fill the time.

It's considered to be really good! Isn't it on sale in the US right now?

Such a shame it wasn't (nor will be I think) released in Europe. Import would cost me like 40-50€. I want to play it, but nor for mor than 20. Would have loved to get it on sale.

No, US Account is no Option for me with the One-Acc only policy the Vita has.

So alright, I finally joined PS+ last night. Also bought Dragon's Crown and Rayman Origins while I am at it. I also downloaded Dokuro and that one other game that I goddamn forget the name right now, hahaha.

I left my Vita at home downloading Touch My Katamari, God's Eater Burst, and Metal Slug XX.

So a question:

Suppose I download a "LaughingBanana" game for 'free' from PSN as a PS+ member. Then in the future I delete it to make space for something. Will I be able to re-download it again at no cost in the future, provided of course I am still subbing to PS+? If yes, is the same circumstance can also be applied if that LaughingBanana game is already not part of 'free' PS+ game promotion (provided of course, I downloaded it by the time it is still part of the promotion)?

Damn, I have them on disc so I never realized they were that large, lol. I know TiT's videos run in 3D (awesome, btw) so that could partially be why, but I don't think the HD collection's videos do so not sure what the cause is.

need to take some tips from Bethesda.

Then the game wouldn't run at all.

Did you pick up your 3DS by accident or something?
