Grand Theft Auto Online: Official Gameplay Video, launches October 1st

Looks like they showed the PS3 version again. Odd if you ask me. GTA4, they only showed 360 version.

EDIT: already pointed out.

The reason for showing only the PS3 version so far is simple: to provide reassurance to PS3 players that their version of GTA V will not suffer from the same issues that the PS3 version of GTA IV did.

My hype levels can't take this.

I haven't been this hyped for a game this much throughout this whole generation.

Late Gen GTAs deliver. Case in point: San Andreas.

fucking announce the PC/next gen versions

forcing people to stick on ps3/360 when there are new consoles coming is pretty damn anti-consumer to me
They won't announce the next gen versions until this version is out, I don't see how you can think this is anti-consumer that is pretty ignorant to say.

Oh yeah, the god damn content creator as well. This game quite literally has it all. Hard to imagine how they managed all of this on current gen hardware, plus making it also look nice.

"We'll get the current gen version out first and see what happens in the future."

"Exclusivise it, Microsoft. I'll chip in a fiver, if you're short."

He should save that $5 for some sort of proofreading service.

Also, can't imagine GTA will ever be a console exclusive again. Considering it'll end up selling 10+ million copies per console easily over the life of the game, I don't even think MS has enough money to hat that.

Don't know why, but I'm not excited for this at all.

Super looking forward to GTAV, but this? I don't know, doesn't do it for me.

No chance. I just want a PS4/One/PC version

Congratulations on posting the most goddamned ridiculous statement that I've read all week so far...and this is coming after I read an interview with Rand Paul!

My opinion is still that they should have gone next-gen. GTA V is extremely ambitious project and both players and developers would have benefits from next-gen hardware. PS4 and X1 are perfect way to start online experience like this because Online is in their DNA, they are made to be connected.

So, this is multiplayer?

I'm trying to get how it's a crazy persistant world with only 16 people. Which player's world are you connecting to? Is each player's world different?

R* are the kings of over hyping themself, I'll wait and see how this works.

It's things like describing how you'll be at your own apartment and see your friend on TV!!!!!!!!!! If you join with your friends and there is only 16 of you, why are you just sitting in your apartment when they are playing the game?

I think some people are blowing their load a bit early with the idea that this is some kind of MMO

Rockstar would make them pay for development. And another check for $200m, before we see it exclusive to Xbox.

Oh, wait, it's not a stand alone game? I somehow glanced over that.

Included in GTAV, I retract my statement. I'll give it a shot.

Here's a bit more clarity from Rockstar, guys:

- No online pass
- Small patch download on October 1
- Access Grand Theft Auto Online through the 4th slot in the character wheel

Edit: Also, masks are not simply aesthetic, they'll have some sort of impact on gameplay.

They wouldn't be holding back the announcement of a next-gen release in the hopes people double dip on this? They're not that evil. Right? RIGHT?
It's an absolute given, and they will get away with it scott free. Look at what has been dished up so far, if Rockstar doubled the price of the 360/PS3 version almost nobody would cancel their existing pre-orders. It's almost absurd how much content you're getting for the current price-point.

It's an genius time to launch, unbelievably shrewd. I'm predicting a Grand Theft Auto V One/PS4 launch around July/August next year, perhaps even PC thrown in there as well. 95% of people who own GTA V will immediately take the plunge, which will obviously be a shit-tonne.

Rockstar will effectively double down and win without any gamble at all, and after watching that trailer, they deserve every single f'g dollar.

Looks great, but it's going to annoy people how close to next gen it is. Luckily I'm not planning on getting a PS4 until 2014 anyway, so this should keep me entertained for a while!

The install base! They need to claw money! I'm sure it will get pushed on the next gen in some form when the PC release is launched

Personally I don't really dig MMOs anymore, I like having a world with only 8-10 people, so this is perfect for me. Kinda like how RDR worked, which was great.

On an unrelated note, all the college kids upset at the release date messing with their fall semester reminds me of when I was a freshman in college and I had GTA3, FFX, and all other great PS2 games that came out the year after release. It was magnificent, but my grades went down the shitter. :P

So I guess GTA Online will be a F2P MMO?

The 16 player limit puzzles me though. Will that be increased in the future?

It's not an MMO. More like your progress and customization will be saved in 'your' multiplayer world.

Makes me wonder what happens if two players in the same session own the same property. Are those instanced to the owner?

It'll probably come to PS4 and XBone eventually.

I don't know why we have to keep having this discussion in every GTA thread. I always thought port begging was bannable...

If this were only for next gen consoles it would not bet this ambitious. R* is clearly looking to outdo themselves with V, and part of that probably means outselling GTA IV's 25 million copies sold, with super strong sales up front. That ain't happening on new consoles. Not for 2-3 years at least.

PC version, 32 players. Don't make me buy the PS3 version Rockstar, I beg of you.

This looks amazing, I can't wait to see what Rockstar does on next gen. My guess is the single player campain goes away, and they focus 100 percent on MMO style game. They will still have campaigns, but you will be playing in a city with other people non-stop.

That almost sounds like the bounty/wanted system in Red Dead Redemption is merging with the classic GTA wanted system. Doing heists or crimes in the open without masks cause police or gangs to attack if you hang around too long.

Gang wanted meter + police wanted meter = causing huge conflicts on purpose or accident.

Rockstar is a real anomaly these days.

Putting out AAA games that seemingly makes no compromises.

What other devs have this kind of freedom? Blizzard and Valve, I think. Right?
