Genuinely sounds amazing

they said this early.

expansions sold a lot, gta complete edition is still selling at high prices

Regardless of saying it early or saying it late. It led them to specifically say that GtAV would NOT have single player story episodic DLC.

http://www.insidermediagroup.com/gta-5-download-games-dlc-latest-news/

"Dan Houser has stated that there will be no episodic DLC like we saw in GTA IV, so that means one thing.. car packs, mission packs and other small DLCs."

I honestly think that is a genuine concern for Sony and Microsoft in a broader context. They have these fancy new platforms launching but there are a lot of people who will be content with just playing this game instead of buying an expensive new machine. I'd imagine it will hurt sales of the annual shootbangs as well.

Eh, most gamers suffer from ADHD when it comes to games, they'll play the shit out a game for a week to a month, and then need something new. By the time October rolls around, people will be ready for something new again. then Rockstar can look forward to those people double/triple dipping when the XBO/PS4/PC versions hit next year.

Man I feel sad for Naughty Dog. They released an outsanding new IP. It should've been GOTY... but this? OMG this looks too good.

This looks so bloody good that I'm tempted to get it for my ps3 as the ethernet port on my 360 is broken and waiting for a pc port, if any, seems so hard right now.

I don't have much friends playing xbox 360 lately due to next gen coming so I'll probably be playing with randoms a lot

I'll join the gaf community if there is one when it launches :D

I'm sure the PC version will at least have hacks to raise the amount. Considering what they did for San Andreas.

I don't think so. If this is a persistent world then it is going to be running on Rockstar's servers which I assume is going to prevent people from running anything third party. You might get some hacked up Single player based MP but I would not count on GTA Online ever working unless somebody reversed engineered the servers

5 mins video...wait

so city is a hub of mini-games. eh
i do like the content creation

Would you prefer nothing but deathmatch, etc? This is on another level. You earn money, buy houses, cars, customize, engage in activities, explore the world... and of course play the included multiplayer modes at your leisure. It's a living multiplayer world, not just modes and a lobby.

even though all my friends have full time jobs, it will take a lot to convince any of them to get a game at full price at launch... and full time jobs means getting together to do shit is not easy :/

With no backward compat, this holiday and probably next will all be about the fight over the limited hdmi slots on your tv/receiver.

And i can't see ps4/One winning any of those.

Los Santos is only the beginning. The volume of creator tools, missions and items will grow, but at some stage GTA Online will head into new locations.

New maps? Thoughts?

GTA Online is without a doubt a stepping stone towards a real GTA MMO. I wonder how much they spent on this. It seems insane.

16 total players is a bit disappointing for something so huge. It seems like everyone will need to be on the same page somewhat.

They wouldn't be holding back the announcement of a next-gen release in the hopes people double dip on this? They're not that evil. Right? RIGHT?

Looks great just as like the actual single player game. Now the question is how will the net code be.

Can you maybe setup up a private world for friends? Password protect it?

Pick a server and that's it? What happens to your stuff when you are offline or is it all located in your own private instance?

While the two week wait maybe hard I have a feeling its for the best. This looks like once you touch it you won't want to do anything else.

They already said they won't do single player episodes again because the GTAIV episodes sold like shit. They failed to realize they sold like shit because people were disappointed in the main game.

That's the first I have heard of this... could you please provide a source?

I probably won't even have the disc anymore by the time online launches, not to mention I'm not keeping my 360/ps3 hooked up after I get a ps4.

My friends are available all the time but can't do a co-op mission to save their life.

Still, it'll be fun to watch heists crash and burn.

This the Open-World F2P game i was calling for. Take GTAO and make it free and BAM. Watch all the money coming in for hundreds of cosmetic dlc's and all the other stuff.
