Grand Theft Auto Online: Official Gameplay Video, launches October 1st

There's a stock market, which won't be available at launch but will be insane whenever Rockstar does put it in. You can invest in a car manufacturer and then storm around the city destroying every one of their cars so they have to pump out more (and their stock increases accordingly). Wow.

Stock market not at launch?

This is going to sound incredibly fanboyish, but I am kind of glad Online is coming two weeks later. Will give me time to beat the campaign without worrying about others getting ahead of me in multi. Trailer looks incredible. Forming up a crew for a bank heist looks awesome.

Yeah, the biggest question mark I have is 'what's in it for them'

I'm not sure from the description if this will be different than just multiplayer but if this is a expansive and connected as they are hyping it as then it took a shitload of time and money and it's free...
So I guess I'm waiting for the hook in this bait.

I really loved GTA4 MP I played lots of it and it was good, stupid fun. So, I'm interested in what they can add to make it a more full experience but as I said every time a GTA comes out R* tends to over talk what they have.

Its not like Rockstar said this is there last game. Know for the last 8 years we have become accustom to the annoucement of DLC before the announce of the actually games release date. But maybe just Maybe Rockstar said lets make the most amazing game possible.

Then lets make the multiplayer that we have always wanted to. Then I am sure some suit was like we should release GTA5 and GTA online as two seperate games. But the powers that be completely dismissed it. This is proof that its ok to make games full of content and not nickel and dime gamers.

Because they've only shown the PS3 version so far meaning it is their superior version. Plus free online is nice.

That means PS is paying for the advertising, they even have a bundle. This says nothing of the quality. I would assume RAM would be key for an open world game and the 360 has more.

Either way, Sony wins with not charging for online. I only have a 360 now (sold my PS3 a while ago) and I doubt I'll re-up Live for this. I will just have to tough it out until the PS4 version drops then I'll play the online a lot. Or maybe buy a 3 month Live card ... don't know.

But I have seen nothing that it would tell me that the PS3 is the "superior" version. Is there a 3rd party game that actually "is" better on the PS3? 360 has run with this trophy for almost all of this generation regarding 3rd parties.

I wish I could do some Breaking Bad shit. Drive my trailer out into the desert and make some drugs, then have my friends go distribute it on the streets.

It looks amazing, but can someone explain how they're going to solve the problem of an empty online world?

With 16 players it means in every action packed shot in the trailer there is no one else on the map outside of those shots. The chances of running into someone outside your crew while on a mission or in a race is slim to none.

It seems like it would work best if you knew most of the people in the game. Otherwise I don't see how it would play much differently than previous installments.

You can set player animations for your multiplayer character like playstation home?

Running Man better be one of those selectable animations.

I think you guys need to dial down your excitement. They were touting something as grandiose with GTAIV online back in '08, and it turned out pretty mediocre. Yes, this is more elaborate and feature-packed, but you should wait until playing it before singing such praise.

It will phase out/phase in other players based on certain criteria it seems. Such as, if you drive too far away from the 16 people in your current game they will disconnect and new players will connect seamlessly closer to your new location. I can't remember if Red Dead did it this way but Test Drive Unlimited did and I was always seeing players even in the most remote locations.

16 players has disappointed me. Maybe I was expecting too much. I was expecting a MMO like experience with tons of players on line.

Reminds me of RDR free roam expanded, which is a great thing. Wish they'd go back and do the same thing to RDR ;_;

Still leaning towards waiting for the PC or next gen version of the game though. I never double dip, so here's hoping the wait isn't too long.

oh yeahrockstar you guys saw what was going on in GTA4 pc online community .

I'm convinced.

Will the windows in your own apartment be breakable? If one of my friends is in my apartment it would be awesome to be able to throw him through it. :)

Well I don't think we have the proof yet. It would not surprise me at all if they ended up adding transactions to this. GTA is the biggest money maker they have but they have to wait 3-5 years to make that money each time. Continual revenue is the new way to do things and I think we will see it eventually

I'm a bit disappointed regarding the release date. We already dealt with one delay already but at the end of the day, its just two weeks.

I'm a bit confused on what exactly R* is offering. Is this pretty much Burnout Paradise set in a GTA world? I'm talking about seamless transitions between free roam play and activities? Will houses/apartments/money/cars transfer over if you quit the match and start up tomorrow? A lot is left to wonder about considering we're so close to release.

It looks great though and definitely a lot smoother than GTA 4 online, thats for damm sure.

Man, that draw distance and image quality on some of those shots looks like it would make a ps360 melt. What is the consensus here? "Bullshot" type stuff running on a PC/PS4/XB1 for pretty trailers or that is how it will actually look on ps360?
