Just to clarify, the game will be a free download with one character but additional characters will be premium DLC?

Am I correct in assuming that you get the "full version" with this offer?

If not, I don't see the point of this Day One sub - just a normal 12 month sub otherwise.

I've got no information on that offer, but I can't see it being much different than the one in the US. You'd probably need to wait for more details, or a price to be listed. If it included the full game (all season one characters), it would probably be at least $80-100.

no. not seriously. trying to highlight how silly "those people" were. the game is quite good looking.
Darn message boards and their lack of inflection. Emoticons FTW.

Anyways, I am actually kind of surprised at how much detail there is in Glacius' model. You really don't get a feel for it just watching the streams.

Kim Wu was/is the hottest KI girl. Come at me, bros! Also, can't wait to see Thunder's reveal. Going by the gritty feel of the game I think he's going to be aweosme.

Which reminds me, anyone think there's a chance we'll get a female character that isn't human?

Here's Mick's full, current collection of KI Music Vine teasers for those interested :)http://www.killerinstinctcentral.com/a-collection-of-mick-gordons-killer-instinct-music-teasers/

Not really any clarification on whether Riptor is a he or she. Referred to repeatedly as an 'it' in the official Riptor bio...

Another of Ultratech's miraculously realised concepts: a crossbreed of human and reptilian DNA, resulting in a creature that combines formidable intelligence with sheer brute strength. Nurtured from the egg by a dedicated Ultratech professor and her team, the beast nicknamed 'Riptor' by others has barely reached 4 years of age before it first demonstrates its full savage power in a human kill. Riptor is confused and often finds itself torn between human reasoning and predatory instincts, resorting to attack when it fails to understand the situation, as ever more people find out the hard way.

do we still not know if this is getting a retail release or not? kind of concerning that there is all of this confusion and the game will be out in about 3 months.

this is literally the only game that will make or break me purchasing an xbone at launch. if MS is going to dick around and make this some half assed downloadable featureless game then i'll pass. But if they're going to get serious and treat the game with the respect that it deserves then i will gladly fork over $500+ for it

- The constant updates from DH
- Teasing
- Developers taking the game for local tests
- They getting feedback from the community
- What we have watched so far
- Etc.

This is the game that seems more like a very personal project that some half assed rushed work, and the devs know this.

i have no doubt DH is doing great work, i love what i've seen. my question is will MS give the funding to make this a fully featured game? endings, different modes, fully featured online play with different modes like quarter mode and ranked, leaderboards, training lab, artwork, story, history of KI, etc.

or are we just going to get an 8 character downloadable game where you have a generic single player ladder experience and an online head to head mode?

So evidently we're not getting anything before Gamescom like promised ... hmm

LOOOOOBBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds to me like they're taking a Minecraft-style approach to this game. Release it online-only first, if it is popular and gets a bunch of updates they will eventually release a more complete version on disc around 6-months to a year later.

Before it gets put on disc they'll probably add a bunch of characters and levels and tweak the balancing repeatedly.

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER

Was just thinking this today as well. Even if something came at this point it would be pointless because Gamescon is right around the corner. Good job Ken.
I assumed Game Scom was going to be the next info drop. Are you sure that's not what they were referring to?

I'm hoping they decided to save it for GC so they could have a blow out (2 character reveals, pricing structure, new mode possibly)

How is there any confusion? It's a digital title. The current plan is to release it as an evolving game that will start small (at a fair price), with content provide regularly for as long as there's interest. DH has stated many times that MS is in it for the long haul, so I think you'll get at least a year of updates no matter what the sales figures are.

While there may be a retail release at some point in the future, it probably won't even be announced until next year. Again, there's no confusion there. It's a digital game.

I think you're expecting too much. I was under the impression that anything we got before GC would be a Thunder combo video at best. If that's not coming, then I expect a Thunder combo video, new character tease (Orchid), and pricing info.

EDIT:

This was just posted on the DH Facebook page, copied from the DH forums:

Rehosted it for you.

Thank god i have the FFXIV Beta to keep me busy until Gamescom

I'm dying for new infos and characters :(

@yo max, love the avatar ahah

Fuck me he looks great!

Didn't Max totally call that he would be a grappler who uses his axes to swing you around stuff in one of his recent vids?

CLEARLY MAX KNOWS MORE THAN HES TELLING US.

Also, as far as his style goes, he looks more like a T. Hawk style grappler than a 'Gief style one. Which, imo, fits way better in a KI game.

Hmm a bit dissapointhing for me. Was expecting a bit more change considering the other characters but I guess he'll grow on me. Would like to see more moves and combo's.

So going by the comments of the DH boss at the end of the video ... we might get a smaller roster for launch it seems.
Or am I interpreting this wrong.

To me it seems like that's always been the plan, especially considering they're going with a lower price point for the game at launch compared to a regular retail game.

Supposedly they're going to have at least one season pass and maybe more that will add more characters and stages. My guess is that the full game + first season pass will probably add up to being the same amount of content and the same price as a full retail fighting game.

Either way, we'll learn more specifics at Gamescom.

Totally called the "Stabbing with Axes and lightning strikes" angle. I'm hoping he can combo into his grapple, and that it's not relegated to "only good as a reversal" style ideas.

He grounds you after the Grapple... so does that make it ender-only? Or can he re-scrape you off the ground for more damage afterwards?

Is it combo-breakablele?

So his instinct is an insta-full invincible dash, with full cancel properties after a small startup.

DP to ground stomp looks like it'll be a good linker for him, maybe? A DP that allows one to get in, and get more damage?

Triple Axes... looks just as it should! Good. The new Low Axe move gives him some mixup.

I don't see "PHOENIX!"... I'm OK with this, but he better say something like it somewhere!

His new design looks cool, and still very 90s, ha. HIs old Mohawk was a feathery representation of a hairstyle... and his new long hair is also represented not only by his own hair, but feathers, as well.

His stage feels like a Mix of his old bridge, and Cammy's Super SFIV stage, so that might make it the undisputed best-non-spectator stage ever, lol. I hope the storm grows in intensity upon hits and landing combos. Full on epic Rain! This would be the perfect place for the first Stage Fatality, too...

I'm happy with his reveal, and glad to see many others are, as well. Really want to hear the specifics of his gameplay now... how has command grapple been married into KI's crazy systems?
