Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Ok so Ive been playing Atelier Totori for about six hours, and I must say I really like it.
First off it looks really good with tons of details on dat oled, the story Its definitely a light hearted but I liked that, not everything has to be an overarching epic tale to work.

Combat is on the simple side and the battles are fast, the alchemy bit is fun and it makes you want to go and find more materials and recipes to try out.

I’ve played it in 1 hour sessions and is really fun grabbing some quests, finding materials and creating new stuff. The game has a simple concept but it works really well, so to those on the fence go and buy it!

People have been saying Borderlands 2 is coming to the Vita for a while but the biggest question is when BL3 comes out will we see a vita version?

If Borderlands 2 DOES actually come out on Vita (who knows really), I guess it would depend on how well it does when deciding which platforms BL3 would come to. You also have to think, if Borderlands 3 is next-gen only, it might not make sense to port it to Vita, which is even less powerful than the PS3. So whether that game comes to current gen or not would also factor in.

Everyone needs to calm down for a moment and pay me attention!

I can't be bothered to read the past few pages so everyone respond to this post and tell me what's happening. I'm gathering something Bordomlands related.

It was an informal poll, they never promised anything would come of it.

No, but I could have swore I remember seeing tweets a few weeks after that which were along the lines of "working on bringing those jrpg :)". Did anyone else?

Borderlands 2 is coming to Vita :)

Really?? I thought it was huge step up from the first. The writing is some of the best I've experienced in a game. Definitely my 2012 GOTY.

a sequel should always be a step up. that being said, it seemed like baby steps to me instead of a strong stride in the right direction. it didn't help that i beat the original like 5 or 6 times (mostly co-op) and the second by myself

I was making a sarcastic comment about your sarcastic comment about that sarcastic comment about this sarcastic comment about that sarcastic comment about...
I was not sarcastic :( if billboards are the best that the developers are able do to get everything else intact and running well then it's (almost)fine for me...
Obviously i would like something at the killzone mercenary level though.

So, is it really happening or is that what someone is hoping for?

Bordelands 2 has better story, but the first one has better guns and loot. Either way, I would get it if they are able to fix the texture-loading system that plagued the two games. Even on PC it runs like ass on that area.

Thanks for all the answers chaps - exciting times huh? Killzone, Tearaway, Batman, FIFA and potentially XCOM, Borderlands, Football Manager and P3? I like it

he also said xcom announcement in the other " will you buy a vita post gamescom" thread going on now

Yeah and he/she said "I am pretty damn sure."

As in, I don't really know.

Sorry if I am pessimistic, but I am happy with vita as is, so until I see acutal proof, it just isn't worth getting too excited about.

but chances are seeming decent to some stuff...

The snappy writing and the sweet-looking guns are about the only things I appreciate about BL2. The core gameplay doesn't hold my interest and I find the environments to be lifeless compared to other similar games. But I haven't completely given up on it. Still plan to at least finish the campaign at some point.

So if it does end up on the Vita, that's great news for the health of the system. But personally I won't be picking it up a second time.

Seriously not liking the fact that if I let the Vita go into sleep mode while downloading, it will pause. It didn't do that previously and I have the option checked to keep the wifi on when going to sleep. Between this and the system messing up when I go to download something off the store, I don't know how Sony could let this go on so long without fixing it. I love you, Vita...why don't you love me?

Woah, woah, those look really good. Any performance problem or is it smooth?

Btw, Kickbeat in 2 weeks! Awww yeah :D

agreed can't trust some random dude!! but it's always nice to hear a rumor :)

My Gamescom Predictions:

1. New Assassin's Creed for Vita announced
2.Borderlands 2 vita
3. Whatever Bend is working on..

That's all for Gamescom, and then at TGS Gravity Rush 2.

If X-com came, I'd finally have a game to look forward to this year. No joke. No PSO2 announcement is a crime. I've been waiting on that for two years now.

I don't really like the overall character design though I appreciate some nice small details on their outfits. I might hit it again sometime later when the mood swings.
Fuck man, why I'm being so picky at character design?
He is also saying stuff about persona 3 port for vita!

I have P3P and I love the game despite its flaws. I will probably buy that P3 Vita day-one. Heck, I will buy every Shin Megami Tensei title they release if I can (I will probably buy a 3DS in a few years for SMT IV and some other cool JRPGs they are releasing).

A quick question, I'm going to a friends house in a couple of days, and we are looking for some games with 4 player split-screen. Do you know some cool games with offline MP? We found CoD zombies, MotorStorm Apocalypse, LBP Karting and Haze. Is the last game any good? We can buy it for 5 bucks in a second hand store near my house. And we can rent too, one friend has a rental near home.

after playing the japanese vita game, then shifting to PC for the english and then moving on from the game, I probably won't have the desire to play it again in english on the vita if it ever happens.

the grinding is atrocious and the near impossibility to get a single item for a specific class without paying real money is ridiculous. playing a spell caster and seeing how terrible there are in speed runs compared to a fighter i think officially shut me off from the game.

i think i still have like $10 bucks left in my account too

The FPS is pretty irregular at times, especially when exploring. However, in-battle is surprisingly smooth.

It's the only real gripe and honestly doesn't affect a turn-based RPG as much as it would other games.

:(

poor TheSeks. you havent looked forward to one game! get this man on vita life support.

I'll admit, Hotline Miami came out of left field and wowed me with how good an arcade experience it was. But that isn't enough for me to be happy with the system.

Notice how I put imo.

Just say Gamescomm isn't going to ignore the system when we both know it totally will and Shadid or however his name is spelled lies through his teeth again. Go on. We all know it's hot air. :(

I was happy with my system the first day I purchased it. Anything else that comes out for it I like is just a bonus.

you needz to be getting Spelunky. That should keep you occupied for a while

Gamescom won't ignore the system though, the games shahid was talking about will be revealed there if they actually exist. SCEE has been putting all the work in Vita lately(SCEJ is doing okay though, Fuck SCEA), so it wouldn't surprise me if Vita came with that fire at gamescom. KZ:M and terraaway are both SCEE, and then you look at wipeout, Soul Sacrifice localization(I'm pretty sure it was them who did it), the sales and bundles ect. Have faith in SCEE, I'm not saying they'll save the console but there will be games imo.

If true(don't forget that it's still a rumor) i don't care about the graphics, for me they could even use 2d billboards like duke nukem 3d instead of polygons(ok maybe it's too much), what i want is native res, at least a solid 30 fps and no compromises(like the limited number of cars in nfs:mw).
Well, like I said, a cartoony style is often already a bit more simple, so them maybe taking some detail away from the environments, simplifying character models some, making some effects a bit less extravagant and perhaps taking a hit on draw-distance are ways they could probably somewhat easily make the game run decently on Vita while it would still look relatively good since a cartoony game doesn't necessarily need to have photorealistic textures and smooth shapes..

Just so you guys can know where I'm coming from. Dude is kinda well known but I blurred his name out out of respect. Don't want people blowing up his inbox.

I hope your friend telling the truth and not trolling for the sake of it because my hype is so goddamned high now.
