Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Yo dude,

its-time-to-stop-posting.jpg

Yea it's kinda obvious but still, did it out of respect, dude is awesome.

Dude has an excellent track record.

A bit of hope and hype doesn't hurt I suppose, if I can maintained it.
Demon's Souls 2 is just bound to be happened though. It is a potential system seller for a niche audience that is the Souls community. With the upcoming Dark Souls 2, Sony momentum is now or never.

Holy shit TLoU PS4!!! I was afraid that I was going to have to get a new PS3 if I wanted to play it any time soon. Now all I need is Beyond and Puppeteer PS4.

Woah, woah, those look really good. Any performance problem or is it smooth?

There can be a dip on framerate from time to time, but its not distracting and doesnt affect gameplay.

I don't really like the overall character design though I appreciate some nice small details on their outfits. I might hit it again sometime later when the mood swings.

Fuck man, why I'm being so picky at character design?

An aversion to moe? :) I like the character designs and those small details do look nice.

Stuff like this could be cool - especially if Sony is smart enough to sell them slightly cheaper. Or full price + DLC maybe. I don't fancy dropping £40 again on a game I already own :(

Have you already forgotten this?

vita can totally handle a borderlands 2 version that is graphically close to the home one, the problem is that we have to see if the team that is working on it is capable enough :(
KZM is made up of short missions with small maps while Borderlands is pretty much open world. I wouldn't expect the graphics of a BL2 port on the Vita to be too close to the console version. Hopefully at least better than NFSMW...

That and heavy emphasis on the girl characters doesn't help much even though I really like the small details on them :(
I really need the right mood for this. Maybe when I'm get back to my own rented place (currently at family home).

A Borderlands and a Dark Souls Port sounds great... But none of these are games I want to play on Vita, I would rather see new games... I really hope, there will also be a couple of announcements...

You never know - the might add a few more loading screens and shrink some of the areas a little bit. Luckily I think the BL graphical style will carry over nicely and, probably, look a little nicer on a smaller screen than something with a more 'realistic' style like NFS.

Borderlands is more like Ocarina of Time. It has clear areas and some of those areas can be quite big, but there are still plenty of loading in between areas. If N64 could do Ocarina of Time, Vita can do Borderlands.

From the EU Playstation Blog:
For EU gamers, the open beta for Killzone: Mercenary will be made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers who own a PS Vita, from the 21st August.

On the 28th August the beta will open up further to become available to everyone* who owns a PS Vita, and will end on the 3rd September 2013.

* For German users, the public open beta will be available via PlayStation Plus only, from the 21st August through to the 3rd September 2013.
Joy!

EDIT: Added a link and the fine print info about Germany.

The size of the world is a memory issue, and the Vita has more of it than the PS3. Biggest issue would probably be if there's to many enemies and effects on screen, but an experienced developer might be able to figure out how to rework effects to work better on the Vita's hardware or fake them in a way that's not noticeable on the smaller screen.

BL2 has some huuuuuuuge areas, though. With alot of dynamic activity going on. It dwarfs OoT.

Is Gravity Rush considered cel-shaded? Whatever the case, I think something in that vein would suit BL fine. I just can't stomach to see it get the Sly Cooper treatment.

No, my Vita told me exactly that it was too hot and therefore the 3G has been disabled.
Don't think it will be permamently damaged. Just think it is strange for the device to run hot so soon, never happened to me before since launch.
It is also strange that only the 3G is affected and nothing else.

Happened to me the first day I got it. Since I was in Orlando at a hotel only the wifi had hotel. I left it downloading super stardust on the table while I was messing around in the pool. When I came back it said the same thing. Needless to say I freaked out since it was a second hand Vita. :P

Not a Borderlands fan but i can't really see people getting excited over it. It is another late port of a game, a pretty decent game though. And if it really happens, i wonder about the price and the availability of all the DLCs for VITA.

Persona 4: Arena 2 would be amazing on VITA though.

I'm pumped. I waited for the game to be lower priced but now I'll get it for Vita. Could it be that Sony will up the memory card size and so games can be more than whatever gigabyte restriction they are now? Borderlands 2 is a pretty big game.

(sorry for the double post)

The game has a simple concept but it works really well, so to those on the fence go and buy it!
I really really want to. It seems like it's a great port and a great game, but I'm finding it very very hard to bite on a digital-only Vita game that already has a retail PS3 version and is $55 here.

On the other hand though I know that small sale I want to push me over the edge and get me to buy it wont happen, so I'll probably end up buying it eventually.
You got my backing son, I like insiders and gaming gossip, regardless if it turns out to be true or not!
Ditto, especially on GAF.

I seem to have missed the non-Borderlands ones judging from the posts here though, ah well.
Hooray!
Looking forward to trying out the multiplayer.
Hopefully Aytrial wont kill me now

I haven't played Borderlands 2, so I'd be down for a Vita port. I do 99% of my gaming on the Vita these days, so it doesn't really matter to me if it's a port or an original game. I just don't have the time in my schedule to play my PS3 or PC like I'd like, so I get my gaming fix from my Vita during my commute to work.

I don't loathe ports like many folks here do.

so... is there any solution to the annoying "vita turns on by itself" bug, that has happened to alot of vita´s (including mine), since the latest fw ..? it annoyes me alot because I just put my Vita on my nightstand every night after I´m finished playing (whatever game), and every night it lights up the entire bedroom (ok almost)..

how do I make it go away..?

Mine keeps doing this now too. Not a huge deal, but it's kind of annoying.

this is why i want puppeteer so hard on vita.

I thought Puppeteer was ok when I played it at E3 this year, but I loved the art design. A Vita version could be neat, but that demo soured me on it. I was pretty pumped about it before then. Tearaway on the other hand, was the opposite. I was lukewarm on it, but after playing it, now I'm really excited about it. I loved it.

I don't necessarily hate ports, just "after-the-fact" ports. Stuff dropping months (in this case, a year) later on the vita is frustrating.

I guess I can understand that. But for me, I have such a massive Vita backlog anyway (still playing through Persona 4, Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, Hotline Miami, Dragon Fantasy, Zero Escape, Retro City Rampage, Disgaea 3, Sly TiT, Dokuro, Stealth Inc, Atelier Totori, which I'm kind of disappointed in so far, Soul Sacrifice, Jak 2 and 3 HD, Lego Batman 2, etc). Most of the new games I'm getting are just going to be added to that backlog, and I'm trying to clear it out. Whether it's a year late port or a new game, I won't be getting to it anytime soon, so it doesn't matter when it hits the Vita or not.

My PS3 backlog is even larger. Ditto for my PC backlog. I have a better chance of playing and completing a game on Vita than PS3, with few exceptions (the last PS3 game I beat was The Last of Us, and I had to fight to make room in my schedule for it).

I will not eat up these false whispers. I will let my eyes tell the truth. I will let my Vita continue its life without blind faith......

I will survive.

thats great to hear - for some reason i haven't seen many impressions on puppeteer. thanks for the heads up. could you go into a little more why the demo fell flat for you? was it controls? gameplay?

also, i'd love to hear more on what you took away from tearaway.

Well it's a start right? If we do, for example, get BL2, XCOM and Persona 3 - I'd imagine that they wouldn't cost as much to make (especially the last two) for the Vita, compared to a brand new entry in their respective franchises.

With a minimal investment companies can gauge interest in those series on Vita and, should they do well, we might start seeing original content for, or day and date versions, for the Vita.

Like with Hotline Miami.

Regardless - my expectations for Gamescom are low (learned the hard way), but I'm confident that Vita will have an excellent show. As will PS4.

I wouldn't even be mad about buying P3P if they put out a P4G type native-Vita P3 game. I'd just buy the new one and be like "sure, I supported Atlus.". ^_^

Wait..... What did i miss on previous page? (Something about blurring)

Anyways, Just 3 more days(17th just started here) and we will have Gamescom :D

I have got a question for you VITABros. What to purchase?

Atelier Totori or Soul Sacrifice?

Keep in mind that i have played the demo of Soul Sacrifice and personally couldn't get into it much but i think it is a pretty decent game and i could love it if i gave it more time.

I only got $56 credit. I am getting the following from sales

* DOA 5+ - $10
* New Little King Story - $9.79
* Soul Sacrifice or Atelier Totori - $17.49 or $19.59
* Touch My Katamari $3.75

Total = $41.03 or $43.13

I already own retail copy of UMVC 3 otherwise would've brought it for sure. I can also either add Dynasty Warrior Next or Ridge Racer. I am not a fan of either of them so maybe i will skip on them. I wish i could extend it to add both games or perhaps add Muramasa but i am pretty tight on budget, lol. Have to keep some dough for Rayman Legends at end of August.

Honestly, you're interested in Muramasa and i'd say get Muramasa over both Soul Sacrifice or Atelier Totori. I didn't like the Soul Sacrifice demo much either, but I ended up buying it anyway and regretted it. Totori is good but definitely requires a specific taste.

Muramasa however was great fun and will be right around the same price as Soul Sacrifice and Atelier Totori.

MAN, I thought taking 2 days off from gaf was bad, so much happened in 16 hours!! A Persona 3 Sapphire Vita would be stunning. I had been planning on buying a second white one if I ever saw another deal...but....dat blue is stunning. I knew the video out Vita's came in a sexy blue like that, I just hope this is one for the masses :D I never played Borderlands 1 or 2, but I'd love to see what is being done, if anything for our beloved handheld.
Hahaha, it seems racing games on Vita is kind of lacking. Unfortunate. Hmmm... maybe NFS Most Wanted..... gonna scour the Internet for more impression for the Vita version, see what people are talking about it.

I am actually on the mission to stack my Vita with games from various genres, like RPG, platforming, racing, FPS, etc etc. RPG got stuff like Persona 4 or Soul Sacrifice or Dragon's Crown, platforming I got Rayman Origin (any other recommendation?), FPS I am planning to snag Killzone Mercenary (though I am not really a big fan of FPS but what the hell it is one of the major big games for Vita so why not), etc etc.

Trying to get games of various types in my Vita.
I do the same, plenty of fighters, shooters, puzzle games, RPGS, racers, casuals, and more on mine. Total entertainment device, with me literally 24/7. NFS is amazing too. Yes there are some graphical issues, but who cares? As someone else put it, it IS the best looking open world portable racer. Period. And it plays swimmingly. It is a blast. I put over 60 hours on it before I even realized it.
If you haven't played NFS on any other system and you're open to the fact that it's a little bit rough visually (relatively speaking that is, it's still one of the best looking portable racers ever), I'd recommend it. It blew my socks off and I play it far more than the PS3 version. I only hesitate to recommend it because it seems to be a bit of a 'marmite' game, people either love it or hate it. Personally, I love it. Great handling open world arcade racers aren't easy to come by on a portable!
Smart, smart man.
Your really selling me on this game Marrec. I want another racer besides Wipeout as well.
Listen to him. And Smokey. And me. And the others. If you want a racer with TONS of content, NFS is it. While not as crisp as Wipeout, the fun factor is as high as Wiepout's.
A quick question, I'm going to a friends house in a couple of days, and we are looking for some games with 4 player split-screen. Do you know some cool games with offline MP? We found CoD zombies, MotorStorm Apocalypse, LBP Karting and Haze. Is the last game any good? We can buy it for 5 bucks in a second hand store near my house. And we can rent too, one friend has a rental near home.

TWISTED METAL. I'm sure it can be acquired fairly cheap now. I say this with anger, as the Vita still has yet to be able to play any TM from after PSOne. Castle Crashers, Rayman Origins, Marvel Ultimate Alliance are other solid pics.

Borderlands is more like Ocarina of Time. It has clear areas and some of those areas can be quite big, but there are still plenty of loading in between areas. If N64 could do Ocarina of Time, Vita can do Borderlands.

Not quite the same. Borderlands 2 has areas that have a lot of things in them and the game throws enemies at you in hordes. Plus there's all the loot that gets scattered afterwards.

Also, OoT on N64 ran at ~20fps.

Anyone know anything about Demon Gaze or Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God? Saw both listed as upcoming Vita games on Amazon.
Low budget first person dungeon crawler with a lot of fanservice, is actually half decent if you like the genre, and a poor dungeon crawling roguelike that's nothing to get excited about.
