Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

If you don't "get" Divekick, I urge you to try it with a friend who has it before you decide. It really needs to be played to be appreciated.

Just got my code for the Killzone public beta.

Wow, are you guys all US based?

I tried to get into the Private beta. Failed. I'm a PS+ Subscriber as well, but I haven't got anything emailed to me yet. I'm in the UK, are they allowing europeans?

I got a code but it didn't work. I guess they sent it to me on the wrong account (different than my Vita account which isn't attached to my regular email)

What?

Did he actually say this is "Bioshock Vita"? Don't think so.

Congrats on finishing the game man, I'm sure you and the team earned a nice holiday after the hard work.

I'm definitely not a fighter-game person. I'm horrible at them. But I know with UMvC, I at least have a chance of unlocking all characters. I'm more a Naruto Ninja Storm/Super Smash Brothers kind of guy. The only reason I'm keen on DoA5+ is the tremendous amount of praise GAF has for it... But indeed, the prices are insane for both. But looking at the PS+ IGC offerings, I wonder if either will become part of it soon enough.

Hmm I did watch a Divekick livestream. It's a two buttons fighter. I guess it'll be fun on-the-go. But hmm...

Is Tearaway bad? It looks pretty good! But I never got into LBP so... Haha

Ah I was about to ask if Silent Hill:BoM is something like a Dungeon Crawler! It looked very Diablo-ish to me (and that Zombie game that was very good and offered on the Welcome Back Program) I'm rather inclined to it now but how's the multiplayer?

Divekick just vexes me. then again, a "fighter" where the emphasis is on movement and controlling space with 2 buttons ... I don't understand why people have any interest in it. Some of the character designs are amusing, but it's just... no.

By no means is Tearaway bad, per se. Some of the art direction just rubs me the wrong way and kills any interest I have in the game... I see GIFs like that one on the last couple pages and I think "what wonderful animation and style"... and then my focus shifts to Iota and I just think "what a horrible design" and don't care anymore. :P

I could see DOA5+ coming to IGC -- but also, there's some weirdness to the whole situation because DOA5+ on consoles is going to be outdated by DOA5 Ultimate F2P. DOA5 was given out to PS3 owners as an IGC game in EU.

SH:BoM is *kinda* diablo-ish, but mostly in the aspects of the 3/4 isometric type viewpoint and sort of in the action-rpg type combat. There are RPG elements like experience levels and magic/alignment. But that's about it there... there is no loot, just the same set of weapons randomly generated/repeated in the randomly generated maps.
Combat is not *deep* by any means either... but the setting was kind of cool, the randomly generated maps are neat, and generally, I thought it was a lot of fun. Online was almost non-existent when I tried previously and my friend who has it and I couldn't get a game going (whichever of us wasn't hosting would always drop as the map was loading us in).

Not that I know of. I wanna see Sophitia in her..umm..full glory in WO3 Ultimate. Hope she doesn't play like the lame ass Ares.

I sure hope the save file from my PS3 is transferable. I'd hate to go through the hundreds of hours I spent on my WO3. I've always felt that WO3 was excellently done. I'd recommend it to anyone...but since WO3 Ultimate is coming out, I'd say just wait.

Hmmm, sounds like maybe I should skip DW Next then... but that price is amazing... and WO3U won't be that cheap for awhile...

Sorry that you didn't win :( I'm happy that a bunch of people from gaf won though, this place has become a second home of sorts to me and it sucks that my site has been consuming like ALL of my free time lol. I haven't had any time to post on gaf ;( I should have all the posters and soundtracks shipped by Monday btw.

Those signed posters though... so jealous lolol. I'm just happy to give stuff out to the fans so :D

I did win! Just redeemed my code to find out I don't have space for the 3.1gb beast on my card at the moment. Seems like ... "everyday I'm shufflin'". o_O

Thanks for running the contest, dude! Love the site and wish you the best of luck in your endeavors with it! :)

Code won't work until the store updates -- it says so in my email at least.

No. You don't deserve it play it a second time.

Yes you can.

Wow, so beta 1 is the same as beta 2? Are we sure about this? It wasn't the same with the Uncharted 2/3 betas, if my memory serves correctly.

Yes.

And he has repeatedly said on twitter that he's still trying to make it happen.

Didn't hear the words "Bioshock Vita" in there.

It's not even a rumor or announcement of anything, he's just saying he has a pet project.

I think you're taking it too seriously. It's not supposed to be a serious fighting game. It's a silly game you play locally with friends for jokes, and it knows it.

I guess I might as well wait until Gamescom but I'm pretty sure all the Vita bundles (even the COD one with a memory card) are $199. I'm not sure that one will get much cheaper.
If you wait, there might be some bundles around that price with some actually good games. :)

What makes Iota and Atio's designs horrible?

"And before I go there's this other game we've been thinking about for a long time. It's a bit of a pet project of Irrational. It's set in the BioShock universe and it's been kicking around for a few years now, and it's very early days and the design is still evolving. But recently we found the right home for it and it's on this guy. On the NGP.

The NGP or Next Generation Portable was the codename for the Vita before the final name was announced.

I'm taking it seriously. It's a fighting game that CAN be played locally for joking around. It's accessible and just about anybody can play it. That doesn't mean it can't also be taken seriously. The depth is there. The depth just happens to be based on skill, reflexes, timing and controlling the space as opposed to learning button combos. It's a fun accessible fighter with plenty of humour and jokes, but at the same time the actual game is no joke. I'll be getting it day 1 for sure.

Oh snap Keits! Always a pleasant surprise to see you outside SRK. Congratulations to you and your team for putting together such a unique entry into the FGC!! I missed the event at Arcade Legacy in Cincinnati due to work, but several friends went (some who don't care much for FG, but went to support AL) and they all came back raving about how much fun DiveKick is. I cannot wait to play this, and cannt wait to be exposing frauds all over my scene! Thanks, and congrats again!

Just got mine! I hope there's at least a new map from what was in the closed beta.

Man, it feels so good being back on these boards!

Let me put it this way -- I can see the appeal you're talking about... I'm sure it could be fun with friends and such and based on the designs for the characters and such (hell, even the Divekick name and premise) you can tell it's poking fun at a lot of things from the FGC.

However, when it starts getting put on stream and people are getting hyped for it and whatever... I mean, they were streaming it from EVO and people on various boards were like "OMG, I could care less about KoF13 finals, but Divekick is next!". That's what I don't "get".

I just do not find it visually pleasing. Can't quite put my finger on why... but I really do not like the characters.

They are just ugly, MM made fun and cute games but Sackboy and this paper thingy are just horrible looking abominations.

I actually kind of like Sackboy. I totally agree with you about the "paper thingy" though. ;)

Are there any infos on the Killzone SP/Campaign? If MP is the only selling point, I'll probably skip it.

Supposedly like 9 single player mercenary missions that run "about an hour each", IIRC.
That info is pretty old though, I think... not sure if there's been anything more recent.

Random: Why are people calling the P3 Vita we all hope for P3Sapphire? Why Sapphire? Is that just speculation? Is that was the rumour says it is? Is that something associated with P3 that I don't know about? Furthermore, does that mean there's some reason that P4G is named Golden?

I believe there's a campaign on it. You play a mercenary...and end up doing the dirty work for ISA or Helghast. Everything's about money! Even the bullets you fire costs money!
