That's actually pretty huge news and also curious to see how Sony handles it yes, it's a pretty underwhelming conference. I'm really afraid Sony is going to have an underwhelming conference as well. Just hope it's not true. I'm waking up 5am in the morning just to watch it so it better not be underwhelming.

Why would they? Their preorder stock is sold out almost everywhere. Also most people who preordered PS4 probably have PS+ subscription and will get Driveclub day 1.

Interesting note is that NFS Rivals is listed as a Xbox One launch game and that isn't scheduled to be released until November 19th.
Not to mention a PS4 + FIFA is still cheaper than an Xbone wih FIFA free.

That's a point. Ah, as long as Sony shows a couple new games I'm fine. I hope they don't disappoint like Microsoft's presser, which was basically "Money Hat: The Conference".

If Sony could get a month lead that would be good news, when there's no consoles left in the stores in launch day people may just decide to buy the PS4 instead.

I'm sure a lot of retailers will be pissed at Microsoft for taking their profit and will promote PS4+FIFA bundles which show this difference explicitly.

This is what some were speculating about. Sony would get their console out early and have the second shipment ready to go around the time that the Xbox One launches. Of course they're going to need make sure that they have another batch ready for Black Friday as well.

I'd guess maybe one or two, but don't expect AAA type announcements. More like indie/smaller studio stuff.

Yeah, but the confirmed Xbone launch lineup heavily implies that the system will be launching at late November, whereas Ghosts comes out at the beginning of the month.
PS4 releasing a tad before the COD release date also makes it easier for more people to buy the console just before the game is out.

If ps4 launch is oct, I trust in CBoat, do people think fifa and cod will come out on ps4 before the xbone is launched or will the publishers hold it back?
I dont play either of these games personally so i dont care, but if ps4 does get them early i know many of my casual friends will grab a ps4 just to get hold of the newer version of their games asap..making MS moneyhatting pretty pointless from thier perspective

Garden warefare and peggle releasing on Xbox first. Yet another move to make the Xbox seem less bad.
They will give us a launch date, and if it's October, that will already be big enough news to crush MS conference.

some things that we've had hints about earlier but have yet to be revealed, we'll see in a few hours if they see the light of day in gamescom.
- Obviously some PS4 features have yet to be revealed, it's going to be interesting to see how the touchpad and the lightbar are used in-game. The War Thunder devs have mentioned they'll use PS4 for head-tracking. When asked how they would use each platform for The Witcher 3 CD Projekt RED mentioned in an interview, around post-ps-meeting time that they believed sony hadn't shown all of their their controller potential (or something along those lines) yet. They still haven't done so.
- We still haven't seen any of the 1st party F2P games, unless driveclub is a semi-botched attempt at that.
- That heavily hinted jumbo-sized 3rd party exclusive (is it another game besides agent? is agent even exclusive or going the versus way?)
- Helldivers
This is just straight fanboy tinfoil hatting, could we see a Quantic Dream/ Media Molecule collaboration?

Pointlessly hoping for great things a la Vita pricedrop/redesign etc. or huge game announcements for Vita or PS4 that will make me want to buy one etc.
but in the end, reason tells me that they're probably just gonna come out there and announce the PS4 release date and how they are going to continue working hard to bring their fans great entertainment on PS4, PS3 and Vita or some PR crap along these lines, show a couple "trailers" of existing games and call it a day lol((
