Nintendo Downloads - August 2013

They all work much better, post-FW update from a couple months ago. You'll still only want to play Runner in 2D mode though.

$5 is an insane price. People will tell you to buy Bit Trip Complete on Wii instead, but it's definitely worth the entry price to have them all portable. The Wii version added in online leader boards, but they were almost entirely worthless.

Yeah, this will be a double (triple) dip for us, as we own all the Wii versions already. It will be real nice to have them on the go. Runner is a family favorite. It alone is worth the $5 to me.

Can I get my fucking Dungeons and Dragons? Someone, please! I've been waiting all summer, and all I want is some sticks-to-snakes action!

How do you play Beat on the 3DS? Can you use the gyro or is it done via the cross pad?

No gyro control for some reason but you can play with the touch screen (or the slide pad, but I would NOT recommend playing it like this.) The best way to play it is using the touch screen with your thumb. If you use the stylus you will get massive hand cramps.

Has its time finally come?

Nice NintendoLife interview with Shin'en. I posted some tidbits but make sure to give NL a click :)

- All their 3DS and WiiWare games were financial successes
- Development on Jett Rocket 2 started 1.5 years ago as a smaller, more arcade-like title
- Went instead for platforming and exploration like the original Jett Rocket
- No motion controls in JR2 as they need to be tight
- Many hidden secrets, destructible scenery to enter new passages
- Hints toward post-game content
- Maintaining 60fps with stereoscopic 3D was an "immense challenge"
- More levels and unlockables than JR1
- Might bring the game to Wii U
- Already talking about JR3
- To be released in late Q3 or early Q4 2013
- Working on Wii U tech and two Wii U games, planning to share first details this autumn
- Releasing games in Japan with Arc System Works

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward is headed to the NA 3DS eShop tomorrow. $25.
I just started playing this on Monday and it is absolutely flipping fantastic

$25 is a steal. Just make sure you all play 999 first, you MUST! Both amazing games. :)

Is there a particular reason that Nintendo doesn't want to release their gameboy advance library on the virtual console? I ended up buying a ds lite so I could play Metroid Zero Mission.

don't work too brilliantly (well to the standard of other vc games) on 3ds, will be coming to wii u eventually

Technically, there is nothing preventing it. The GBA games included with the ambassador program switched the 3DS into DS mode and then played them from there, which meant no save states, but they worked.

In theory, Nintendo would be able to write a emulator or shell to allow save states, or just say screw it and offer them as is. It doesn't seem like a technical hurdle.

The likely reason is that it is easier not to. It has already created an emulator that works for NES, Gameboy/GBC and Gamegear, and there are a ton of games yet to sell. It probably takes a lot less work to get the games working since the work is already done.

Nintendo has hinted that GBA games might come for the Wii U. I suspect that if the 3DS doesn't get GBA games by this time next year, then it won't happen, and it is pretty unlikely regardless.

Less hinted and more outright said GBA games would be on Wii U.

Ok when then? I mean seriously it can't be that hard for a company like Nintendo to do this when the user community can do it no problem. The longer they wait for sales they lose from someone like myself. Because they didn't have it available I bought the game used, a ds lite used, and a gameboy player used to play the games when I am at home.

Awesome. I saw it at my EB Games for $40 but I thought that was too high a price. $25 is a good price, but I'm still a bit hesitant to buy it if the save-game bug is still there. Does save-data backup work with the game?

:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Digital version means save backups! Hopefully it is available for the game.

I agree, this is annoying. it better come out tomorrow, I can't believe it's taken this long.

The trailer has just been sitting in the eShop all Summer taunting me! I don't care whose fault this was, just get the game out now so I can play it soon and all will be forgiven.

I just finished Bit.Trip presents Runner 2 and was dying to play Bit.Trip Bit. This promo is just a gift from the skies.

I'm really hoping for some good 3DS VC releases tomorrow.

I have $17 left on my account, and there are no cart releases that I want until Zelda.

Etrian Odyssey 4 was one of my favorite games of the year, but I'm not sure if I want more from Millennium Girl, especially after seeing on Siliconera today that many of the FOES come directly from 4.

I'm afraid to get the current VC games that I want (Mole Mania and Zelda 2) because I almost bought Mario Golf last month, waited and then it was the Nintendo Club game.

And yet still no Runner 2 for NZ/Aus. >_>

They say blame Nintendo, I don't understand why Nintendo would be specifically leaving it off our store when its been on the Euro one forever.

Its had a discount and DLC released for it for everyone else but we still can't even get the actual game.

*sigh*

Well someone read my bitching post this time and hit the 'release' switch. Its up now randomly.
