Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Why not just, you know, delete or backup the games you've finished?

Juggling stuff is annoying, especially since my Internet is not exactly the greatest in the whole world.

However I do admit I never try the 'backup' thing, but as far as I understand the only content you can backup is the save games, correct? It's not like I can move Game A to my PC to get game B and then in the future I can copy back game B to my Vita using the PC, correct? I need to actually re-download Game A, yeah?

Actually, that's exactly how back up works with Vita. You essentially copy all the files (actual game, updates, saves) on the PC, and you can bring all of those back at any time.

Ooooh my? Really? O____________O

Hahahaha, color me surprised then! I honestly thought the actual games themselves are not copied over. So I can actually copy files including the games themselves back and forth to PC nilly willy using Content Manager? So I can copy game A to my PC, delete the bubble for game A and all of its related files in my Vita for space, and then at some point in the future I can copy back those files to Vita and it would be as if I have never deleted game A at all? Is this true?

Wow. I am schooled!

Yeah. Just pick vita to pc from content manager, and pick applications to move individual games to the pc.

actually, you can't even just copy the save files to pc, it drive some people nuts because when you want to simply backup your save files, you have to copy the whole game again and overwrite the older game+save file already on your pc.

unless you have ps plus of course, then you can just backup your savefiles to the cloud.

eedit: you can also copy vita games to ps3 for backup purpose, but pc is so much better with wifi transfer, don't even have to connect vita to pc via usb and all.

The difficulty level of Guacamelee is higher than I thought. Not a bad thing but the amount of dexterity needed once you can switch worlds definitely ups the ante.

Don't know of this questions been through here yet

With sony saying that developers have been asked to make most of their games compatible with the PS4, that would mean that they would have to have had a PS Vita dev kit right? Or just a regular Vita in order to make sure their game functions right with remote functionality

Do you think this may have made some developers who hadn't originally tried a vita, more likely to try and develop or at least consider their own vita games whilst playing around with it? Now they know how it works

Or maybe the reverse, maybe some companies will come out afterwards and say they enjoyed making such n such game for the PS4 but felt the vita was the worse part (I hope not, i hope it inspired them, I am looking at YOU Capcom)

you can't redeem PS+ codes on PC
hmm what would you like for trade?

Honestly I have no idea what the code is worth. I planned to pickup Final Fantasy 9 and the Hot Shots Golf vita game. Not really sure how trading even works (do you get codes when you buy games over PSN?)

I did not know that either, for the whole games, hmmmm handy, but still not quite viable for a bus journey, if i want to quickly switch games i'm not going to drag a laptop on a 50 min journey to work, just in case one afternoon i decide that i want to play a certain game

Hmm, I do have PS+. So the copy thing is actually all or nothing?

Well, at least it's much faster than having to re-download the games again.

This news seriously makes me a happier man :D Now I don't really need to overly worrying about my 32 GB MC getting low in capacity anymore.

hmm noap. you can't get codes or send gifts via PSN sadly :(
not sure what I have to offer as well :/

Why wasnt the 64GB card announced anyways? That famousmortimer or so person knows it exists so why is Sony holding back? Why not just sell that for $100+ and have 32GB at $80. Even if its too expensive you can buy one eventually since its exists ffs.

He suggested that Sony is waiting to clear stock before introducing the 64GB. It makes sense, I guess - retail space doesn't just magically appear.

Sony could at least just sell it on its Sony Store website, though.

You'd think they would announce that along with the drop in memory cards.

I wish you could copy just save files to PC. The backup process is absurdly slow for large games. PS+ cloud backup would be nice but they only keep your saves around for 6 months after your subscription lapses, so you can't just leave them in there for too long if you're not a constant subscriber.

Bought a bunch of stuff in sen today. Little kings story, guacamelee, critter crunch and pre ordered castle of illusion. Not bad for. About $35....

Hopefully that's the reason behind the terrible "price drop", and the prices all drop a full tier once the 64GB is introduced. Not that it'll help me; I'll go from needing $80 for a 32GB to needing $80 for a 64GB.

I think you should be able to back up the save to PS+, delete the bubble, then download the save and transfer it to the computer.

Isn't the only way to access the save through the game's live area screen? Or can you download it from the PS3 somehow? Seems like a workaround like that wouldn't work. How would you even reapply the save to a digital version of the game on the vita afterwards?

From what's been said on interviews, PS4 - Vita remote play "just happens", as in, it's a system level feature that the PS4 just does naturally. What Sony encourages devs to do though, is implement custom control schemes if you plan on playing games via Remote Play, which may not necessarily require a devkit per se.

Noi, since you are here, can I make a suggestion to add list of Vita PSN users for friend list purposes in future Vita PSN Game and Service threads? Or if you can't, any particular reason for it?

Want to add more Vita users to my friend list, it would be nice if I can access a centralized document for it for easier addition.

Well, you can download PS+ saves directly with CMA, so I tried my idea just now...

Yeah. Sony needs to address the digital game save issue.

That's what makes it really unique as a Metroidvania imo... it's got actual platforming in it, and as much as I love Alucard, Guac's fighting mechanics are no joke either.

Walking Dead is a fairly decent port. Framerate isn't perfect, but the bigger issue is a stutter of sorts when it loads a new scene sometimes. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is frustrating that it happens at all. It hangs or freezes for the second before moving on. Minor annoyance though, the gameplay holds up fine, both touch and physical controls (Ive been using the physical, played through Episode 1. Only played the first 2 so).

Great game. I tried playing it on the PS3, and my accuracy and timing went to shit. One instance where I definitely prefer the Vita.

So I'm trying to decide between NLKS, DoA, and SFXTK. I could get two, but not all three. Not sure which to get. I'm thinking maybe DoA and SFXTK, but not sure.

The stutter happens on all platforms. It's pretty janky. Hope Telltale changes that in season 2.

I've been considering creating a Google Doc spreadsheet that can be freely edited so that people can add their PSN ID, region and games that they play online. I got inspired by the one in the Dragon's Crown OT.

Thoughts?

All in all, I picked up Totori Plus, Touch my Katamari, Dynasty Warriors Next and Ultimate MvC3 in the sale. More games to play!

The last firmware update removed available RAM for the psp emulator on the Vita right? I'm getting a very weird effect when I try to play Wild Arms XF. The game's an SRPG so the graphics are mostly stationary and the whole screen normally "jerks" when you scroll around the grid with your cursor.

Well every 6th or 7th tile I scroll past, there's a moment of television distortion effect on everything. Looks kind of like this:

Haven't tested other psp games yet but it's really annoying and wasn't there pre-2.60

Watched a 15 minute walkthrough on YouTube and yeah, the port looks like it turned out alright! Certainly up there with the PS3 version at least

Definitely gonna pick up now.

Played the Killzone beta yesterday for the first time.

Damn, the game looks quite amazing and it feels great. Faster than Killzone 2, but not as unnatural fast as Call of Duty.

Very hyped now for the full game.

I saw your first post earlier about your memory card getting full and not being able to add more games, and I honestly thought you were being sarcastic. :p

Makes me wonder if that's the idea that turns off potential vita buyers. Before I bought mine I made sure there was a PC or Mac backup system, wasn't going to buy a Vita otherwise.

uhhh... maybe I'm stupid but wasn't the Puppeteer demo supposed to be already up for euro plus members?
I don't seem to be able to find it.

Look into the face of the Spelunky trophy list!

One of the few games that has very challenging and fun to complete achievements. Some of the requirements look very basic but they are more complicated (but fun) to actually achieve. Seven of the achievements in the XBLA and Steam versions were cut however. Guess they have different point limits.

The one for completing the game in co-op is gone, which is good because multiplayer is really damn hard to survive long in. Other than that mostly pointless ones were cut. "Die 1000 times, beat the tutorial" etc. Sad to see the "Kill 12 or more shopkeepers in one game" and 'Complete the game without collecting any treasure. No shortcuts" are gone though, those were goofy and fun challenges.

Too bad there's no platinum though. That'd be a real badge of honor to have.
