Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Guess there was no hands-on with Remote Play on the GC show floor, huh? They really made it sound like it would be playable. I want some objective impressions... Eh.

use CMA? and Vita takes shitty quality screenshots anyway.

i always just email them. Same goes for when i want to send a wallpaper to the vita. I can't figure out how to get my CMA to play nice. Always seems to need to "rebuild a database" and won't recognize anything from my PC folders.

Loaxing times in carts are always faster. BB Extend is the game that I felt the most difference, about 3 seconds faster than running on the memory card.

Just beat the main episodes of the Walking Dead. The worst bits, framerate-wise, were in Episode 4, although Episode 3 had some issues too. Still beat it without issues.

So the price drop was finally enough to make me pull the trigger. Had some trade ins too and got it for about $70. Picked up Persona 4 because obv. Now I just have to find a few other titles to justify its purchase. I want P3P but as I own the PSP version I can't justify the $20 for it, just yet. Have to wait for a sale.

Are there ever any sales outside of the PSN store for digital copies? Or is that a PSN store only thing? I think I know the answer but I thought I'd ask anyways. I haven't really been into Sony since the PS2.

So my best friend bought a Vita yesterday. He's the biggest Nintendo fanboy so I'm a risky really surprised he did it. He tracked down the PS+ bundle and he's playing Grav Rush.

Any news on sales next week?

Just bought a Vita... eek.

Are loading times in general that much worse using carts than digitial or fairly similar?

congrats and welcome to the club.

similar (well sometimes a bit faster on cart than memory card iirc)

and buy P4G, Souls Sacrifice and Gurumin (it is a PSP game but it's super awesome, Action RPG like a loaded with charm and actually fun, many dungeons and puzzles and platforming, also Parin has a legendary drill like Simon)

I honestly think I now currently own every game that I wanted that released in the US.

Bought Dynasty Warriors & MGS HD this morning. Going through my download list earlier ---So many games I forgot I had bought.

Is there any fix for that download bug? It's very annoying.

ys celceta will be dlc plagued or?
since i doubt i'll get that in europe i can as well order the us game provided there are no dlc or similar... any dlc planned in japan?

Sony really needs to make it easier to browse your download list. Goddamn nightmare to find anything and the webstore doesn't make it easier.

Yep. At least make it so we can select different categories. I don't need to look at my PS3 downloads on my Vita. You can't even do that on the webstore, either.

Yeah. Even a simple search function would be much better.

On top of that, I want a wishlist! Great feature on Steam, 3DS and Wii U (though my Wii U one is eternally empty). Hopefully PS4 has a wishlist function and that leads to adding one on Vita.

Its really not that bad scrolling through my download list. I also think the Vita takes nice little screen shots.

My download list is massive. I've been digital since PSP Go. I would have at least 2 combined pages of PSP LBP DLC. PS+ doesn't really help either.

I think being able to categorize it into games, dlc, avatars and themes would be awesome, or even collapse DLC into the game it's from. As well as being able to order by date or alphabetical.

A UI like GOG.com's library would be so good.

How is the Walking Dead Vita port? It also has the dlc right?

Never played the game but I want to give it a try to see what the hype is about. Plus I just beat TLOU so I need more of that story-driven post apocalyptic fix!

Should I get the Vita over console versions?

I guess im just patient...my list is huge as well and it still doesnt bother me to scroll through it. I dont do it often either...there is always that.

I'm doing something while trying to learn angularjs. The web store does requests for json, which include entitlements (what we would call a downloaded item). Once I get really going on it I'll put it up on amazon web services and people can play around with it. But basically you'd be able to search on the site.

The only thing I really want fixed is the freakin download error, you know, it hangs up on "preparing to download" and you gotta power off. Other than that everything is gravy. I love this handheld.

I almost went for the vhbl hack the other day but said screw it. Ive already hacked this thing twice but ended up updating it. Its always pretty damn sweet for a couple days then sony updates it and you lose all psn access. I cant have that. lol

I wanna get another vita and put a capture card in it. I gotta wait till tax season though. That one will definitely get hacked.

Is Gurumin really that awesome? I was planning on getting NLKS but if Gurumin is nicer then I might get that one instead.

Yeah I think it's retarded how all the PS3 crap shows up on the Vita download list.

It is. Sony really needs to fix this and add a wish list to PSN accounts.

The whole download list, among many other things, really need to be revamped, at least in preparation for PS4. They should probably go for a game library sort of thing, separated by system (with DLC on its own).

I know Toto has been praising Gurumin for as long as I can remember, but I've only been here since March :D The game does indeed look to be pretty awesome though. Watch some videos on it, it's pretty great looking. I started with a trailer, then ended up watching upgrade videos, level playthroughs, and more. I found myself really wanting it, but I don't know when I'll get around to playing it with my ever increasing backlog. It could be another notch in the belt, tho..

Can I download games to my PC and transfer them? It's taking me hours to download Divekick on my Vita directly. PSN is pretty slow on my PS3 but this is ridiculous.

Bought Retro City Rampage and kind of regret it. Oh well, it was just €5.

Yes, I got the game free via PS+ and it didn't live up to the hype in the slightest.

Did that YT channel make a framerate video for NFS: Most Wanted on the Vita? I'm interested in seeing how far below 30 it drops. Seems like it goes to 24-25 sometimes.

I wonder if Sony will change the Vita home menu to be more like the PS4?

It will be interesting to see how the PS4 menu copes when players have loads of games on the HDD and they are scrolling left to right to get to them. But yeah, wonder if they'll get rid of the bubbles and make it like the PS4 UI.

.

The DL bug is the worst. Such a pain, especially after spending money and the constant concern of double charges or whatnot when the bloody thing hangs seconds after your purchase confirmation.

Finally managed to get some more time into KZ:M - had to put my Vita into a DMZ to get there but #yolo

Yah - this is pretty good. Pretty damn good.

Thanks. I think I'll put it on my backlog for now, since I also have so much stuff to go through right now. Man, it's so dangerous for my wallet to browse VitaGAF. I end up buying a lot of stuff I never intended. But I also get to discover some great games. It's an addiction! :)

bumping this because I'd also like some opinions. I enjoyed the demo a lot and multiplayer isn't an option for me anyway, but I've never really had any fighting games.
Depends what you're looking for, I play a lot of fighters on PS3 and picked it up recently on vita

Some thoughts and things to take note of:
- Game has online cross-play with the PS3 version, but DOA5U will be coming out soon which will render that feature mostly useless
- Commands are very heavily diagonal based (not a dp, just straight diagonal motion), which IMO, is not suitable on the vita dpad because of the clickiness and sensitivity, which makes you miss them more than you should (note: I may be too spoiled by stick since I almost never use pad).
- Single player content is quite robust with a story mode that has around 2 hours of (very cheesy) voiced cutscenes and around 60-70 fights. Will take you a good chunk of time to complete.
- Aside from that there's very in depth tutorials and other extras that you'll enjoy if you end up enjoying the fighting mechanics. If you plan to play seriously though I don't think the game's suited for vita.

For $10 you could do much worse

You're welcome. I am in the same boat as you, too. Every week my wallet gives me the middle finger for starving it as I do to satiate my gaming needs. I know I can stop...but I just can't pass up deals...

You can not. You can copy them over to PC once you download them though, which helps if you have to manage a small memory card.

Son of a bitch, I put Touch My Katamari in my cart a few days ago and forgot to buy it. Never gonna find it again for $3.75. :( Sale is over. FAIL

I watched a video of Aab's Animals. It looks like a video of a cat and it awards trophies. Surely there's more to it than that, right?

Fuuuuuuuu I accidentally deleted my billing info when setting up my other vita and now it won't take none of my cards... fuck this :( why won't you take my money Sony??

Just got my vita today. When is the memory card price drop going into effect? Best buy and amazon have the 8 gigs as 23.99 instead of 19.99.
