Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

I cannot WAIT for Spelunky on the 27th.

We should petition Derek to bring the Daily Challenge mode to the Vita version!

Also to all the new Vita owners, Mutant Blob for $2 with PS+ is an absolute must buy. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit more than their other game Guacamelee.

Also hey dudes! I was a Vita owner at launch. Sold it, then got back in when I got my hands on a PS+ bundle. : )

How is the Walking Dead Vita port? It also has the dlc right?

Never played the game but I want to give it a try to see what the hype is about. Plus I just beat TLOU so I need more of that story-driven post apocalyptic fix!

Should I get the Vita over console versions?

I got the vita version even though I've played through the game twice and you should definitely pick it up. It runs kinda shit but so do the console versions so its a wash.

Beat Guacamelee. Fun, challenging game. Getting the 5th orb was some of the most frustrating platforming I've completed. Only thing left is some combat st uff and hard mode. Which will be left for another time. I need to finish Ninja Gaiden

You don't even need a Japanese account. You can just buy the physical version and play it fine on any region account. The Sega PSO2 ID is separate from your PSN.

About to buy a vita, ps + is worth it? What games should i start with and what memory stick. Also any good deals in canada

PlayStation+ is definitely worth it. It's a MUST-BUY with a Vita :D
Memory Stick - get a 32GB, unless you are going to buy mostly retail games... but Digital Vita PSN releases is where the fun is at :P

Games that are awesome and you get them FREE with PS+
Gravity Rush
Wipeout 2048
Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Games to start with?
If you are getting your Vita before the Tuesday Store update, get the following
DoA5+ - great fighter on the Vita
UMvC - great fighter as well :D
Guacamelee - I know you may already have this on Steam but hey, playing it on the OLED and with the Vita buttons is the way it's meant to be played #bestonVita
Mutants Attack - This is on sale too :D
Dynasty Warrior NEXT - This game is a very well done port on the Vita so don't hesitate!
Dragon Crown - Dungeon crawling/loot galore - this game's art and gameplay will have you drawn for hours!
Muramasa - Excellent Action game!

The following are not on sale anymore but still great options
Persona 4 Golden - One of the best JRPGs on the Vita :D
Soul Sacrifice - Got a somewhat monster hunter itch, this game will be gold!

Killzone: Mercenary Beta - This is free with your PS+ so don't hesitate and get PS+, you'll love this

Bundles-wise
You can try going for the Walking Dead Bundle or the Bundle with the 12 Months PS+, both should be 199

8GB gives you the best price, but it can only hold 2 of the larger games out there. You may have to juggle with a download manager through the PC, or if your speeds aren't too bad you can just continually install and uninstall the downloads as you go through the games and tastes. Keep an eye on good deals for the 32 GB, because you're going to want to upgrade to that when you can.

PS+ is absolutely worth it. 2 of the best games on the system, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush, are free through the service (among others), and they are constantly having sales. Combine that with the PS3 offerings, and it's a ridiculous offer to pass up if you can subscribe to it.

Those two games listed above are good to start with, but we need a better idea of your gaming palate in order to give you the best suggestions for you.

No idea about Canada, sorry. I'm on the other side of the lake currently.

PS+ is a must for Vita! And if you want to take full advantage of PS+, you need at least the 8GB memory card, if not the 16GB at the very least. 32GB is when you sure you gonna buy a lot of digital for it (which probably). Myself is doing great with 16 GB, with almost 15 games in it (PSP and PSOne game included).

To start, you should buy:
Guaccamelee! and Mutant Blobs Attack
P4G (if you like JRPG)
Gravity Rush (already come with PS+ if you subscribe)
Dragon's Crown
Soul Sacrifice
and if you would count PSP game, I think you should get
Patapon 1+2

Wow! Looks like the price drop has helped. So many new vitagaf members. Excellent choice and welcome. Do yourself a favor and get PS+. Then get P4G, DC and show Drinkbox some love (Guacamelee in particular).

indeed, so many new Vitamuffins make me feel all warm and fuzzy :D

Don't forget Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia T_T
LordT

Imagine Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia (with rebalanced encounter rate) on Vita. I would be so happy if instead of turning Vita into an indie/HD down-port dumping ground (ionca lives!), Sony endeavored to develop a PS2 emulator for the thing and Sega released more games with the DC emulator wrapper it uses on its PC ports.

So many 6th gen games on iOS with pristine image quality, it's depressing.

EDIT: Buy P4G and Stranger's Wrath!

Planning to sell my 4gb and 8gb cards and combine everything onto a bigger card because swapping and managing multiple tiny cards sucks.

Question on what is stored in the memory card though. If I have bought a game at retail does it keep the save game data on the games memory card or the memory card you can swap our (like the 4gb that comes with it)?

Also is there a easy way to transfer everything from one card to another so I don't have to redownload everything.

YES YES YES
sigh... there are so many Classics/Old games I would love to play on my Vita

Kinda taking a Vita Hiatus with new games (bar Dangan Ronpa and Minecraft when they come out) until they release a 64 or preferably a 128GB card. I hate, HATE micromanagaing, so even games that I have some interest with are gonna get passed up. Hopefully TGS will yield it because Gamescom didn't :(

Yeah I have my Walking Dead bundle waiting to be shipped from amazon. No idea why they got them later but they did : (

Anyway, signed up for PS+ and have a few games ready for me to transfer over. Cant wait to play Uncharted, I had no idea Nolan North voiced Drake, so super excited for that.

Curious if we'll get these on the US/EU versions. Probably not, another thing Sega gets to rub in our face by not bringing over state-side.

Lock if old, etc..

this doesn't help at all
SEGA :(

I have strangers wrath on ps3 psn. Does it work on vita. Can someone link the vita with ps+ for 12 months. Theres a guy with a bnib call of duty vita for 179.99 no tax. Should i bite

Strangers Wrath is not Cross-Buy sadly
but the Vita variant is worth the dollar

Some games store on the memory card, some store on the game card.

You can copy all of your content from your memory card to a PC with content manager fairly easily. You can do it with saves too, you can also upload your saves to the cloud if you have PS+.

Speaking of PSO2, how much of a pain is it to get two Vita cards with two separate accounts working? I read it used to be viable up until a certain patch changed some stuff around.

So, I'm about to buy PSO2 through Play-Asia. But before I do it, let me get this straight. I can go online and earn trophies and everything with the Japanese version on a US PSN account, it'll just tie my Japanese PSO2 account to my US PSN account? Because if that's all there is to it, eff this noise. I'm sick of waiting for SEGA. I didn't get my degree in Japanese fo' nothin'. Although it's been five years since I've used the language. :\\\

Anyone interested in getting it with me and doing a GAF quest crew? Let me know!

Very viable. Pre-2.0 firmware you could have 2 accounts on the same card. The patch just forced 1 account per card.

Note that you will have to format the vita every time you switch cards to switch accounts, and this also disables trophies for physical games you already played when you switch back, meaning you have to delete your save data to "format" the cartridge as well before you can get them again.
