Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Spelunky this week! Never played it on PC, but I have a friend who's bang into it and I'm so excited to jump onboard.

Gonna be staying up late playing under the covers until my eyes melt, I can sense it.

Btw, where is The Walking Dead for EU? I would have bought it straight away last week but what with imminent Spelunking I'm probably gonna end up waiting for a sale or something further on down the line.

Nope, Soul Sacrifice is different enough from Monster Hunter that hardcore MH players may dislike SS (and vice-versa).

I actually never played Monster Hunter so that just blind assumption on my part. So the game while similar, it have major difference then?

I ended up playing a bunch of Soul Sacrifice tonight. I'm finally getting the hang of it and I'm finding that it was well worth the $18 I paid for it during the sale

I bought it at full price and am more than happy with my purchase. The fact they are still putting out free dlc helps too.

It's also the perfect game (well for me at least) that I can find myself picking up to play a few missions and be done for the day

The combat, while somewhat bare, has been a blast and it's just fun picking up missions to do

I pretty much always pop off a few missions every time I turn on my Vita. It fits so well on a portable.

Wow. If the Yatagarasu topic is that bad, imagine if a true AAA is annouced for the vita.

it's not because Vita, it's because it got cancelled on other system for a really a lame reason and devs were completely clueless .

if there was a multiplat game and the Vita version got cancelled then the developers said " it's because of cat people community, they told us so" many of us here will get upset as well.

Soul Sacrifice is really filling my need for a ARPG, since Ys still doesn't have an official release date

I love it and I wish I would had picked it up earlier and I recommend the game to anyone a fan of action games and ARPGs like Ys

Killzone Beta is impressive. I'm not much of a multiplayer guy, but based on how smooth it runs I'll definitely be looking to pick it up for the single player.

Yeah. KZ Merc looks to be mighty impressive. Never has a Vita game been done on this scale. This totally feels like PS3 in my hands.

Also, if you play KZ Merc campaign, you can also buy upgrades for your MP profile. So you won't be left out from levelling if you started MP late.

I know this is apples and oranges but I want to get something on the sale right now.
I already got DOA5 and MGSHD but now I'm debating over getting either Guacamelee! or Ragnarok Odyssey.
Thoughts?

Well, if you want something to push you into opening it: You can basically chop $50 off of what you paid because you're going to to have to buy another year next year anyway right? It will just stack with your current subscription.

Vita's a cool system, and PS+ is a really good value and will give you a lot of games to play out of the gate. I say open it up!

Opened it. Something I had on Ebay sold and makes it easier to take the plunge. :)

Any details concerning the single player out yet? Hopefully it's long enough to justify buying the game. Any talk of co-op? Even a horde-type mode would be nice.

As impressive as the game is, I'd hate to buy it and then burn through the campaign in 5 hours and then never play it again...

My top upcoming Vita games are the following:

1: Ys Memories of Celceta
2: Minecraft
3: Killzone: Mercenary
4: Assault Android Cactus
5: StarBound
6. Terraria (I want both this and Starbound lol)
7. Tearaway
8. Toukiden
9. Freedom Wars
10. Borderlands 2

Guacamelee. THere's no point in getting Ragnarok Odyssey now as Ragnarok Odyssey Ace is going to be released soon-ish (it's Ragnarok Odyssey + fucktons of changes, new content & improvements).

bad news for you then, as there are only 9 missions in the campaign mode.
Bleh, stop with this BS. It's not like console KZs have that many more, the levels should be about 45min to 1 hour long + they have incentives to replay levels playing differently. That's fairly long for a FPS campaign nowadays with plenty of replay value to boot.

RO was mostly panned by people that have played it and if it really interests you, then wait for it's next installment ACE to come out this year which seems to be an improvement.

Guacamelee is one of the best Metroidvania games I've played. The length is just right and the pacing is excellent, you always have something to do or gain a new ability at just the right time. Combat and platforming is equally good as well. The platforming is challenging but is forgiving so that you can attempt them quickly and easily.

Guacamelee. Ragnarok Odyssey is one of my least favorite "hunting" games, and an enhanced version should be released at some point if you really want to play it.

What Vita games are you guys looking forward to the most?
Hyped for:

Demon Gaze
Sorcery Saga
Danganronpa
Tearaway
Assault Android Cactus
N++

And a late pickup of Dragon's Crown which will probably happen in September.

The campaign has 9 chapters that are each 45-60 minutes long, and once you beat a chapter you unlock alternative objectives to do in it. The game was designed to be replayable multiple times.

Noticed that in the dark depths of my DL list. What's up with that? I wonder if there was a possible Hell Yeah! port planned for Vita before Arkedo sadly disbanded and Sega got all hardnosed about what they'll bother with.

Yeah, I love MH but I wasn't a fan of SS.

edit: I've sent GC a tweet and email about KZ:M asking if they'd consider including an offline (aka no online MP benefit) bot mode post-launch either via patch or DLC. Hopefully the answer won't be a straight-up "no".

Er, is that a sad face as in no solid release date still, or sad as in never coming to NA? Can't take another ZOE HD ;_;
It's due November 5th in NA. Presumably that is not where Cheddaz is located.

Only maybe coming after the PS4 version right? :x
Yeah, but I'm quite hopeful about it. Plus I won't be getting a PS4 for years so I gotta believe!

I don't understand what is the problem? If you download a ps3 game it shows up on your download list on the vita as well.

Hey does anyone know why it takes so long for Vita to back up the memory card?
It took me like 2 hours to back up my 8 gig o_O

When will Ys is gonna be released anyways? It feels like an eternity :|

It is my most looking forward to game for Vita, aside Disgaea 4.

Anyways, any opinion on Machinarium?

Encryption. The system encrypts and then decrypts when it is being transferred. This is to prevent hacking. Unfortunate, but the hacking situation on the psp was pretty bad, so I understand why they did it.

If it takes that long to use the backup utility, wouldn't it be faster to just manually copy all your games/saves over to your PC and then just manually copy them back over? I might get a 32GB card soon and I don't want to wait that long since all my games and saves are already stored on my PC.
