Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

It does have co-op (4 players!). Didn't know it was crossplay though. I heard vita owners have the luxury of not sharing screens with other players (normally if you play multiplayer, the leader is the center of the screen)
It is Cross Buy and Cross Play according to the Blog

Anyways, i look forward to playing the demo and hopefully end up liking and buying it.

Alright, so I'm seriously thinking about getting a PS Vita, but there are many things I don't know about both the system and PS+.

I live in Australia, so this might change the advice. So the price drop, when is it meant to happen, because the price down under is still $350 (supposed to drop straight away I thought)?

Is it possible to buy it from say Amazon and get it shipped here?

Would I be best making a US PSN account for cheaper games/subscriptions?

Can I just buy a US PS+ thing?

So what do I actually get with PS+, is it those few games a month or whatever that I keep as long as I'm subscribed?

Where do I find what games I get with PS+?

What size memory should I go for if I'm going all digital?

I assume I'll have to buy PSN American pre-paid cards to buy from the US store?

Sorry for all the questions, hoping to find out a bit more before I take the plunge.
I'm not sure of the exact date but I believe it comes into effect sometime in September.

Amazon sadly doesn't seem to ship systems to Australia, so I don't believe so unless you go to the trouble of getting someone to ship it to you from the US after Amazon has shipped it to them.

In terms of pricing compared to Australia on digital purchases yes, the savings are great but it's more of a inconvience to add funds to your PSN wallet as the PSN store has geoblocking on credit/debit cards, so you'd have to rely on looking around for US Playstation Network cards that add funds and get it shipped to you/the code e-mailed to you. In terms of games you get on PS+ I think the main reception (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) is the EU/AU one gives out better games with it compared to the US subscription, so that might effect your decision in what region you go with.

I'm not sure on the US PS+ thing, it geoblocks cards as I mentioned earlier but I believe that if you buy a code to get it it works fine (but I'm not sure on that one so you'd have to check with someone else)

The way Playstation Plus works is if you add the games to your download list (you do this by adding them to your cart and then clicking download then either downloading it or canceling it, it should be in there after then) then you get to keep that game aslong as you're subscribed (if it's not in there though you'll lose your oppurtunity to keep it after it gets replaced with other PS+ games) and if your subscription runs out they'll be gone. As soon as you re-subscribe though if the game is in your download list they will come back to it/reappear

They'll be in the PS+ section of the Vita store, it's pretty easy to find. You can also use the PS+ section of the webstore if you want to.

If you're going full digital I'd recommend a 32gb as your card tends to fill up downloads fast, but if you don't download too often and want to wait for Sony to (hopefully) announce bigger sized memory cards you could probably compromise with a 16gb although I'd say you'd have space issues after not long if you're going full digital.

And yes.

Sorry if that wasn't too clear.

Great Info

More great info

Thanks guys.

So it sounds like it must be best waiting until the local price drop comes into play, and then I might even find a better bargain than going through the hassle of trying to get one from the US.

I guess I could check Ebay for PS+ and PSN credit from the US, unless someone know a better place to get them from.

So the ''instant game collection' completely changes each month or is there a selection that changes but the base package that you get upon signing up stays the same? Cause I would want to get Uncharted GA when I get PS+ but I don't want that to change out.

So if I got a smaller memory card for now, is there a way to download the PS vita games and store them on a HDD or PC or something, and only keep a the card but change them around as needed?

I don't even really know why I suddenly want one, but now the wait for a better price is killing me... ;)

^ I live in Indonesia and I always use prepaid PSN cards to purchase stuff digitally from US PSN, so yes it works.

Thanks guys.

Yes the instant game collection changes periodically but so far Sony's own games listed there haven't: Uncharted, Wipeout, and Gravity Rush. You can freely re-download any game that you have downloaded during your PS+ membership in the future, even if that game is no longer part of free PS+ games promo (of course, provided you are still subscribing into it)

Yea you can backup games and stuff to the PC with content manager and swap things back and forth. Just make sure the MCs are associated with your account.

+1

I live in Pakistan (South Asia) and own a US PSN, never had any issue with pre-paid cards or purchasing stuff from US PSN.

I guess I could check Ebay for PS+ and PSN credit from the US, unless someone know a better place to get them from.
Play-Asia also has pre-paid PSN cards and they are cheaper than most online sites IMO.

When you go to download the game, it stays in your instant game collection forever. So if you have ps plus right now, go and queue them all up and its yours as long as you have a ps plus subscription. As long as you have ps plus and have queued GA before, you can get rid of it and redownload it anytime you want.

With the memory card thing, what i do is just put the games i want to play on the memory card and transport all those i own and not playing right now onto my hard drive on pc. You can also transport them onto a ps3 hard drive if you have one.

Depends. I got mine from Amazon when it had that awesome Black Friday sale. There might be some reasonable deals at JB though.

Personally I use my Australian PSN, I find the PS+ to be better for EU but that's just personal preference with the games. I few online stores do online codes for US+, but probably Whirlpool Forums might be best to ask.

Thanks everyone again, it's really sounding great. It's kind of frustrating now just waiting for this price drop, I'm not paying $350 though (the RRP here).

Sounds like you can get it for cheaper by importing. The shipping fees shouldn't cost that much I think, and the Vita is region free.

So I just heard that the price drop will come into affect on the 2nd of September and will be $269.95 for the Wifi + 3G Vita, no word on the price of Wifi only. I'll wait. Where should I get the memory card from though, think that's way cheaper overseas?

Firstly, people have already replied but I figured I'd share my experience. I did this - using a US account on my JP Vita in AU ;) For stuff on the PS store, unless you have a US credit card you need to use prepaid voucher cards - i get mine from PC Game Supply. They just give you the code digitally when payment goes through. There's a small premium (about $5) to activate the card at their end, but I figure it's a small price to pay for the cheaper games available from the states compared to AU.

For the games on PS+, you can visit the SEN Store and see the 'PS+' section for a list of what's available. Download speeds etc are all really good for me on Vita and on PS3.

AFAIK Amazon US will ship games, but not systems (is this right?). I used SuperUFO who had super fast shipping. They ship from HK I believe. Had zero issues with my JP launch unit. Coudl always buy second hand too ;) I prefer new, though.

As for memory, if you can, go 32gb if you plan on getting a lot of US games. I have a 16 and an 8 but swapping cards is a pain in the ass (.. i know) so I'm gonna drop the cash for a 32 soon.

Can you describe it?

From the Level 5 Vision topic

F2P RPG
Release date: 2014

It looks like a regular JRPG that you flick your commands to attack, special attacks. Great graphics and music. True Widescreen view for the Vita version.

I played a bit more of Killzone Beta yesterday and I must say fellow GAFfers, I hope more games can start to look like this in the future.

The release date is getting very soon and I'm very tempted, just need to wait a couple more days to decide but either way I need to play this game.

I also played for the first time the LEGO Lord of the Rings. The soundtrack for the movies always gives me a good nostalgia but it seems the audio is very compressed. I might be wrong however.

During the news related to the Vita couple weeks ago, I saw a thread where we could find all the upcoming games, but then, I missed it because I was out of town. Can a kind fellow GAFfer point me that thread please? I remember Borderlands 2 was in it, curious to see more of that and how it will play.

I thought the second screens stuff was programmed using the Playstation Mobile platform? So in that sense, why wouldn't the Vita get that stuff?

Hope this also means the Playstation Mobile platform releases in more territories soon.

The three games I can't get out of my head are Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and Samurai Warriors 2 HD. I hope they localize all of them in the US

So, Rayman Legends for Vita got delayed?
It was set to release on Aug 29th and is now set to release on Sept. 12th.

Where'd you see that? Amazon UK still have it down for being on par with the console releases, but maybe it hasn't been updated to reflect an updated release.

UK 3G Vita Gaf : which mobile broadband website top up works well in the vita browser?
The UK Vodafone website is terrible to top up even on a decent PC - its terrible there and doesnt work at all on a Vita. So if you are out and run out of credit you are offline until you get to a cafe etc.

They don't have a website you can access even if you're out of credit? Faaail.

Kinda not Vita related but do old PSN+ games ever get re added? Now that I have it I was hopping batman would get added or NFS MW for NA

Darn ... would have been nice to get that one a little sooner, for Legends, then I could play that until Killzone comes out (though I do have the beta, but I'm actually curious about the single player). Now it's getting really crowded again. Oh well.

After playing the demo though, I'm fairly convinced the Vita version is the one to get, unless they update the PS3 version with Move support (or Vita remote play)

my wallet :(

probably getting
Dragon Fantasy Book I (PS3 and PS Vita, Cross-Buy)
