GTA V has gone gold.

I hope the map leaks soon. That will hold me over these last few weeks.

I don't want to see anything else - just the map. I'm being really careful to avoid spoilers. When I go to gtaforums, I only click on certain threads and I only read posts by members I trust not to post details about the leak.

Same, but I don't think I'm going to be impressed by the map. There's maybe a 1% chance I will be shocked by the size.

This truly looks like one of the most well-designed video games, from production values to content to mechanics, ever developed. I know it's too early to say that with any degree of certainty, but so far I haven't seen a single thing out of GTA V that gives me hesitation or reason for concern. It looks like distilled open-world perfection.

GTA IV was my first foray into the franchise, and I loved the hell out of it at the time. I recently tried to replay it though, and it's a very difficult shift after cramming in so much playtime in Sleeping Dogs. As long as V plays as well as SD, it will easily be my GotY. I don't even think The Last of Us or Pokemon will be close for me, they'll likely lock up my second and third spots respectively on my year-end list.

Hnnng, come on September 17th!

I want this, but I really want a next-gen version (even though I think the look and gameplay seems plenty 'next-gen' for me). I committed to buying no more games for the current gen until I finish my game backlog, so hopefully something will be announced by then. Can't wait to hear impressions. I'm not sure if I'm more hyped for SP or MP.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm wanting to hear about DLC plans before I commit to getting GTAV. Rockstar loves to release a game, then the DLC, then the GOTY Edition with all the DLC included.

It's beginning to shape up that the DLC that will be related to V will probably be in the form of GTA:Online DLC, new characters, missions, maps, heists, and content for GTA Online. CVG guys have speculated that GTAV might be an isolated release, that all of the stories in the game are contained in GTAV and that it's not going to be expanded.

GTAIV was built for DLC from the start, just from the very way that only 40% of the map was utilized for the main single player game (you're hardly ever in the New Jersey section of Liberty City, onyl for a few missions near the end, and even then, it's isolated to one small area of it). You knew from what they had built out in the rest of the city that they'd come out with DLC that was focused on those other areas.

There is no way there is NOT an "Episodes from Los Santos"-themed DLC coming for V at some point down the road.

There's absolutely a way that isn't coming. It certainly wouldn't be as exciting a second time.

I'm hoping for Las Venturas. Just make the infamous Las Vegas strip playable, and have it so that you take a plane from the Los Santos airport to get there. Have a place to bring all three protagonists and spend all the money you've built up on all those heists, on several new minigames like poker. Have some missions, with crazy Vegas people. And finally some big heists involving casinos.

I'd be happy with this. I liked the way the 3 stories intersected in GTA4 and its DLCs, but I felt the individual games' stories(especially 4) were a bit weaker for it. In GTA4 they introduce Bulgarin and his past with Niko, but then he barely appears after that. Any single player DLC will hopefully be a separate story.

I do... i do.

And then two really awful screens:

And then nothing for another good stretch.

Wow..I remember staring at these two pictures and thinking it looked so much more colorful than IV. It's crazy that we are almost there. I'm just gonna walk around the city and soak in the atmosphere for a couple of minutes. Listen to what funny stuff the peds say, and then test out the melee combat.

I remember pretending to not be pissed off and just saying it will be worth the wait and yadda yadda yadda.

Me too. I was like "Don't worry, it's just a few more months, it will be GOTY"

Damn he cancelled his preorder :(

I don't think there will be a whole new city with DLC. Maybe one or two new characters, a couple new locations on the island...

I hope Rockstar works on a new Read Dead and a new Bully. Over all I want a next-gen version of GTA V.

If you listen to the Leslie Benzies interview on CVG, all of the talk is about expanding GTA Online, and very little is on GTA V. Like, expanding to new locations and maps for GTA Online. It's not outside the realm of possibility to expect Liberty City coming out relatively soon for GTAO and then perhaps have GTAO launch on next gen consoles with a Vice City or San Fierro + Las Venturas,w hile they focus on building the GTAVI.

It would be cool if they did DLC that was in both the SP and GTA Online. New vehicles, and related missions. Maybe even an Undead Nightmares like DLC.

I would be perfectly happy with this, and in reality it makes complete sense, given Leslie Benzies going on record during that CVG interview that he sees GTA Online as an ever-expanding service. Also, he said that the previous GTA4 episodes didn't necessarily find the audience they deserved so they were looking at doing things differently this time. Making the expansions part of the online venture would be exactly that.

I want alien invasions and spacecraft. Come on it's no more outlandish than zombies!!

Also, I'd love to see some DLC that focuses on ambient environment changes. Was thinking a lot about this recently. I'd love Skybox DLC, featuring new cloud patterns, new sunsets and sunrises, different weather shit. Or maybe DLC that actually installs interiors of already existing buildings or storefronts, and then also adds in missions to go with them. The possibilities are endless, and I hope they listen to the community to gauge what to work on.

A whole new city sounds weird to me. Especially if we can't do missions and free roaming in the singleplayer.

A new city = a new GTA.

Do you guys think the Game exclusive special edition is worth it? The case and the blueprint map looks nice, but the DLC looks pretty worthless. I'm in two minds :/

I really wanna see how the melee combat works..

Btw, there's an airport in Los Santos where we can take the plane to smaller airports in the countryside?

Was in the same boat as you. In the end £20 wasn't worth it for me although I did want the steelbook and blueprint map. Also considering it may be released on next-gen sometime next year I don't want to spend a lot this time round.
