Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

No mortimer, you can't have it because that means I'm spending more money...

This Vita has been a burning hole in my debit card since Day 1. A damn crack habit....

Reason I asked the Killzone question is because its sure to be the "standout" game for everybody who likes to talk about Vita but not play one for themself.

Sony would have to be absolute morons to not have a bundle together for this holiday season coming up.... absolutely moronic to fail at such a simple thought process.

Killzone can sell Vitas, I'm sure about it. We will see bigger games in 2014. The install base is only growing, not shrinking

KZ:M seems like the poster child for a future permanent first party PS+ game so I'm going to wait on it. In any case AAA games on the vita tend to hit the bomba bin fast enough.

KZ:M seems as likely to go to the IGC as P4G. Sure, if sales are mediocre, then anything is possible, but I'm hoping for the best.

I dunno, when more and more people dont support games like Killzone, as unlikier is it, that we get new retail games for the system... Only because of this, I will support the developers and buy it day one for the full price... All this waiting for games to drop in the IGC isnt healthy for PS Vita...

And now y'all got me wanting to cop killzone for support.

No. Its madd dope, I get it. But its a hard $40, I'm drowning in games and I'm not gonna have time to play it!!!!

Ughhh choices and videogames....

Yup, it's typical of their incompetence and complete lack of interest in the Vita. Sony are such utter morons not to have a bundle like...

... oh.
:p

I've had problems with online play on my Vita too. I think I completely fixed it though. A few days ago, I opened up a certain port range ( Port 49167-65535 UDP) for my Vita on my router's settings, and set a static IP address to the VIta (so that port range knows specifically what IP address to have those ports opened up for). Make sure you have NAT type 1 or 2 instead of 3. Ever since I did that, I got into every single KZ match I have tried. Before that it didn't work 95% of the time.

Edit: Here, try following these guidlines. They're the ones I used.

Thanks a lot dude. Will definitely give a good luck at these and hopefully I can fix this.

I hope KZM sells well. Not because we "have" to support it to get more AAAs but because it's an absolutely fantastic game. I had tons of funs with the Beta alone, can't wait for the full game.

Hell, I didn't even know a console demo was out. Thanks. I'll be downloading that ASAP. I'm still undecided about which version to get, so this may help with that.

Console - HD glory, co-op, haptic feedback
Vita - OLED glory, portable, vita d-pad

*sigh*

Once you've played the console demo, you'll realise that you're missing one really big plus on the Vita side: touch-screen! The only bit of criticism that the Eurogamer review had on the 360 version is that the bits where you were supposed to use the d-pad are now a bit perfunctory and get genuinely annoying near the end. But on the Vita, you have the touch screen as well.

And the Vita version also supports co-op. Don't know if that includes online though or only ad-hoc.But you could even say it supports same-screen co-op to some extent, because I can have my kid do all the touch work while I play with the buttons and analog sticks, or the other way around. I already popped the bubbles during his play sessions of Origins on the Vita. ;)

And therefore the Vita also includes all the Gamepad specific levels that were originally Wii U exclusive, iirc.

So yeah, Vita version for me. ;)

Also hope Killzone SP Campaign is good. I've always liked the Killzone campaigns so far.

Vita people bought CoD and still playing it, so there is FPS fans with Vita existing owners, Sony marketing team need to reach to them and let them know that KZM exists (maybe by mails to their PSN inbox).

two other problems are the KZ fans waiting for Shadow Fall/don't have Vita are the issue, not sure how they can sell the game to them since SF is too close now, also there are some who will ignore it by default just because it's handheld spinoff/not by main team and wont give it a chance.

I am joining the cries for Spelunky, its so close guys!!!

Thats the third time Draw slasher has been on sale on the past two months, I guess the publisher really wants us to play it :D

Rayman Legends has been getting GREAT reviews. Unfortunately, we haven't heard any word about the Vita version. I just need to know it's native res and 60fps.

Why not? We have seen graphically demanding games like KZ: Mercenary at native res. I don't see any reason why Rayman Legends is not native res/60 fps :)

seeing as they made Origins perfect, i dont see why not, and that was a launch title with no experience on the platform :)

Got a review copy of Rayman Legends for Vita today, and holy shit is the game gorgeous. Native res, 60fps, and it -appears- to have online co-op. That was unknown to me. Haven't been able to test it, since no one's online, but I'll keep trying.

Murphy's touch controls are super intuitive so far. You can use either front or back screen, you just toggle it in the settings. Seriously, this looks like the version to get.

EDIT: My bad, looks like it's LAN or Vita-to-Vita only. Not online. Kind of weird that they'd even have LAN as a setting, but yeah, doesn't look like it's via Wi-fi.

From my understanding the vita version does not have co-op. You're right, though, that it does include the additional wii-u content.

edit: oh wait, i stand corrected? the vita version does have co-op???! Everything I've read has said otherwise. @drandonuts

Trailer clearly showed co-op. It's probably ad-hoc, would be strange for the Vita to have the only version with online MP.

Been playing Dragon's Crown for the last 2 hours and wow, what a breath of fresh air. The art is gorgeous and combat is actually fun for a brawler.

Well, I mean...yeah we've known about that for a while. I don't know anyone with a vita within a 10,000 mile radius so that's useless to me.

Well that was good timing! Thank you sir! That looks amazing!

Thanks for the screens and impressions. Can't wait to get my hands on it :D

OMG! Skipped this post, but that pretty much confirms Legends is going to be AWESOME! aaaaaaahhhhhhh Cant wait, nice balance between a quirky platfomer like Rayman and an awesome shooter Killzone :D September rocks.

Good game Sony, GG. That better be in all territories.

You are correct. Sony needs to really have a marketing blitz for this game. Get Vita back on TV, show this game to people. Then gear up for the road to black Friday and do another blitz in the last 3 weeks before the day. I think we seriously underestimate how important this game really is for Vita. Tearaway included as well.. these tailend releases carry AAA budget gaming on their backs and if they don't do well, its gonna give sony a bad mixed message. Plus these games don't deserve it on their own merits either. So I think as a Vita fan I may have to suck it and show out if these are the titles I want to see on the system. I really love the Vita ecosystem where I can play a heavy AAA title one minute and switch to something pretty light and quick in a matter of seconds.

Online Co-op sells me a copy. :)

This just made Rayman Legends 10,000 times more awesome.

I updated my original Rayman post, but it looks like the multiplayer is only Vita-to-Vita or via LAN (no wi-fi). My bad on that! But, it does have online daily/weekly challenges.

Sony have been pretty good at bundling the Vita with big titles so far. I'd be surprised if the Killzone bundle was exclusive to some region. With the price cut and all the positive buzz from Gamescom mixing with the anticipation for KZ:M, they'd be really stupid not to offer a bundle for every region.

I wish special editions would be a bit more creative once in a while, not that I'm complaining about this (cheap) one.

It always seems to be bog-standard art book + CD, cloth map being the next big one. Shinovi's the only CE I've ever bought (5 mini figs).
Not really a fan of gigantic statues at huge prices either.

Only cool practical SE I can think of was the original FFXIV's, had a map, a journal and a tumbler.

But you get a compass too!

And come on, a 3-CD soundtrack spanning the entirety of Ys music; that's just great.

Wasn't complaining about that one! Just SEs in general; always the Art+CD combo.
It'd be cool to see an SE with..X-Ray Glasses! Or a secret decoder ring!
