I'm on Chapter 19 out of 21 in Gravity Rush and I just give up. This game's combat frustrates me beyond belief; also, the Nevi aren't fun to fight in the slightest.

I only made it maybe an hour into that game before deleting it. Such an awesome world and art style, crippled by some of the worst controls I have ever seen in a game.

If any new EDF owner wants to play MP, I am happy to join the fun.

I still can't understand the criticism about the combat. I really enjoyed it.
People tend to mention the missing lock-on, although there already is a minimal homing to the target. A full lock-on would be way too easy. Aiming already is easy with the gyro.

What's your problem? Each Nevi has his own weakness and has to be tackled differently. Also use the special moves a lot.

Don't miss out on this great game.

Sliding is a bitch, rest controls like a charm in my opinion. Cranking the gyro aim up helps.

While I agree with you and enjoyed the controls in the game (especially how fast and smooth the falling controls were) if they're not enjoying it anymore, they aren't missing a huge amount in the last few chapters.
It's not like the story goes anywhere.

Expect to die often.
Don't rush.
Always carry a rock if you aren't carrying a weapon, chest, or damsel.
Don't jump of ledges without looking.
The shotgun owns.
Make sure there are no store owners in the way before you take the treasure during the first world.
Rocks ricochet, and will hurt you.
Always throw pots to break them.

aight thanks this game is hard but fun

Any impressions for Strangers Wrath on Vita?
Totally forgot it was on Vita and I plan to grab it soon if it's good.

It's a great port. Looks a bit worse than the PS3 version, but runs smooth and controls well.
The game itself is a strange blend of FPS, stealth game and platformer that works surprisingly well. Also the voice acting is outstanding.

Thanks for the impression. The bolded was definitely the biggest worry I had.
So with that fear quelled now I can enjoy the unique blend of gameplay you mentioned.

Lol. I just saw that Need For Speed: Most Wanted got price dropped to $19.99. If I had known that, I wouldn't have bought it a week ago for $30. LOL. Ah well. The game is really fun.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKK.

God fucking damn it.

ONCE AGAIN I bought a game at full price ONLY IT TO BE DISCOUNTED SOON AFTER!

FUCK my life :\ :\ :\ :\ :\ :\

You guys. Seriously, stop buying so many damn games xD

Enjoy your pickups for the week at least before spending money on something else. I know that itch is hard not to scratch, but come on. Put some faith/meaning into your purchases!

Btw, can someone from EU please let us know when Spelunky is up? I'm 8 hours ahead of you guys, but I'm hoping it'll hit before I go to bed tonight.

My purchases for today!

I don't know why I do it to myself, lol. It feels good to play Spelunky on the go though!

lol at first I thought, "That's a strange trophy for Spelunky to have!"

Also, wow. The Vita's amazing colors become so much more apparent when I see Vita screenshots on my monitor.

Dude... dude.... but the sales. BUT THE SALES!

Is Dragon Fantasy actually a good game in it's own right or does it just stand on "hey, heeeeyyyyy we're like those rpgs you played as a kid! Isn't that cool? Heyyyyy!"

If it can't stand as a game on it's own then I'm not interested, even at $2.50.

It's fantastic. Good framerate, looks great, controls great.

Plus outside of the port being good, it's just a fantastic game all-round. Get it!

Its a pretty good port. Technically pretty flawless, although the texture quality isn't a good as on Ps3.
Heres a comparison by Digital Foundry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkvPhnV-fRM

The game itself is one of the best Xbox(original Xbox) games ever.

More positive comments means its a must buy now.
I'll hold out for a few weeks to see if it goes on sale of any kind, if not i'll grab it regardless.

For those of you who aren't convinced about EDF, I'll be making a video about it soonish.

Can you do a good video on NLKS? From the start of thee day, recruiting, killing, finding treasure, building, and finally creating city buildings? A few gaffers were asking for a good nlks video since there arent any.

Spelunky is everything I wanted. 1001 Spikes still to come. If I could get La Mulana on this thing, that would be the Indiana Jones Trilogy/Pitfall holy trinity.

I'm still so heartbroken over this. I bought two copies just a couple days ago ;_;

So much wasted cash.

Edit: I know your pain laughingbanana. I just wasted 40 bucks.

Let's see....

Dead or Alive 5+, Muramasa Rebirth, NFS Most Wanted, Soul Sacrifice, Persona 4 Golden.........

That's it. I am not gonna buy another game unless it is in discount/in sale.

You should have quoted my tag ;_________________;

Anyways, EDF! I am interested but I imagine the online is dead right now, huh.

Could not have said it any better. An awful experience.

Gravity Rush being free on PS+ its still worth trying.
Personally I think it's one of the vita's best titles. Though I would be lying if I said the combat didn't frustrate me a few times as well.

Heh. I have an all new group of people to hate now. I got up to about 200+ deaths on the XBLA version and only made it to world 3 a few times. I suuuuuuck at Spelunky.

You and me both.
I'm finding the Jungle to be FARKIN BRUTAL.
Especially the Tiki traps. :\

--

For some reason I'm now tempted by NFS and EDF... but I was going to buy Dragon's Crown... dammit!

I bought Gravity Rush day one and I almost threw it out the window after the first Gravity Slide sequence. Absolutely despised the forced gyro and touch controls.

However, I picked it up again last month and gave it another shot with a more open mind. I enjoyed it a lot more, but it's a flawed experience.

yeah I just played Spelunky for an hour straight and only got to 2-3. It's pretty brutal but so good. As soon as I stop playing it, I'm immediately thinking about it again.

It's one of those games where mastering movement is critical to enjoying yourself. I know that sounds absurd, but the combat was frustrating me a bit too for a while, but at some point, controlling Kat clicked with me, and I just started to intuitively control her, with no more frustration. I learned how to use her combat skills while moving through the world, and that helped me with combat with enemies as well. While it's not perfect, I find the games controls and combat really exhilarating.

Just go with that lock-on dive kick move for Gravity Rush and do it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again during battles.

Such a great world and a great leading character that unfortunately got trapped in a rather underwhelming game overall. Whoever thought of that sliding controls must be punched by everyone that bought the game.

Anyways, guys, EDF? The online still dead? Or still kicking? Or in-between?

Heh, I just got the platinum a few minutes ago. I'm not sure what fight you're speaking of, but the only Nevi that annoyed me were those flying ones that shoot waves of homing balls at you. Otherwise they're pretty simplistic; even the tougher ones go down with a special attack anyways.

Final boss fight was obnoxious though. I kept sacrificing health to get in the final 3 hits, finish the fight with no health, and then realize there is another phase to the fight. I'd have preferred one ridiculous health bar that initiates different phases in the fight as it went down. Wasn't too bad overall though.

Ending itself was kind of sudden. They had setup for multiple stories, but chose to conclude none of them I guess. Makes room for a sequel, but I'd have liked some idea of where the story of the game was going.

Try the Rift Sliding challenge in the Military DLC. That shit is obnoxious as fuck--I couldn't even complete it.

So any tips and tricks for someone who held off picking up Spelunky just to play on the Vita? I just went through the tutorial and can tell I am going to drop countless hours in to the game, so just wondering what people suggest. Nothing to crazy, just some good tactics and approaches to playing is appreciated.
TIA,
DL

Yep, I liked it quite a bit and even got the platinum. I had no trouble getting golds on the challenges, but I did find some of the encounters toward the end annoying. The game was just requiring you to do things that it didn't properly allow you to do. It was clunky in some sections. Overall a good game but I'm not shocked to hear that anyone is frustrated by it.
