After finally getting back to Gay Tony this week, I'm really worried how this game will run on consoles. It's just terrible going back to it (and the grey city doesn't make it any nicer to look at).

Having said that I remember everyone being worried about Skyrim (because Oblivion ran like crap) and it turned out to be OK on consoles.

So how far in advance will the Digital Foundry analysises be posted? I would really like to know the facts before deciding on 360 or PS3.
 
I hope they put more sandbox back in the game - since it's meant to be the quintessential sandbox game.

I felt GTA IV gave less choice in missions, with pre-baked car chases and vehicles I tried to set up disappearing after cut scenes. I rarely said to myself "What if I do it this way?". Even in GTA III I was getting around the intended mission by improvising.

You're probably going to have to take a guess. And buy one as I doubt DF will have a copy of the game before release best you can hope for is 3-4 days after release.

Ouch. Obviously the PS3 version seems the way to go as that version is really being shoved forward by R*. I wonder if 360 users are worried that their version might suck.

I'm worried about the 360 version sucking but I'm also worried that maybe them pushing the PS3 version is just a marketing deal and in reality it will be worse like with Red Dead.

Don't really know which version to spring for.

It's likely just a continued "we're sorry" for not giving them the exclusive owed for 6 years now.
I feel pretty bad for Sony at this point. Agent would have been a perfect launch title.

I'm just going for the 360 version. Controller preference and the previous R* games have been 'better' on the 360 both performance and resolution wise. Can't really see that changing too much.

I'll guess we'll find out when the game inevitably leaks soon and the pixel counters go to work.

They did a helluva fine job with Max Payne 3 and even though that was not a free roamable game I will take a bet and say that Sony is pretty determined to help Rockstar push everything out of the hardware for GTA V.

Why don't you wait? I think there will be plenty of copies in the shops on releaseday.
Hopefully we will have some comparisons between the 360 version and the PS3 version by then. Thats what i hope anyway :-/

That usually asks him to wait for 3-4 days until the DF analysis is up. I can say yes to this when it is anything but GTA V getting released.

They'll need both versions. Highly unlikely R* will let them play both versions until they get hold of two copies after launch.

I would bet any 'reviews' would be done with a R* rep around or in the room and played on the PS3.

OXM will get the 360 version and OPM will get the PS3 version. Every other website or magazine which does not have any specific console preference will get one of the two versions.

That is why with websites like IGN or Gamespot you will see a review from only 1 version, and that all depends on which version the developer gives.

Since GTAIV's "journalist leaked the game" debacle I can see them only sending out PS3 copies for reviewing. It's what I would do.

Not that reviews actually matter for this kind of stuff, for anyone seriously on the fence it is best to just wait for the DF comparisons.
 
What is more fun about that whole DF Analysis waiting is that, while people are waiting for it, there are millions of gamers around the globe who do not and eventually will not give a rats ass which version is slightly superior over the other.

Well, that's easily one of the biggest and most common complaints about why GTA IV "sucked," so you should already be up to speed on the concept I was putting forth in my post, i.e. "People think it sucks for reasons that mean nothing to me."
 
I just recently preordered the ps3 version, I did not for one second question my decision, not because the ps3 was the platform they showed the game on .. it just felt natural to get this game on the ps3. Can't properly explain it. Gonna play the shit out of this once it will get eventually released, I am so fucking hyped for this.

Flylo officially confirmed and announced it on Twitter about an hour ago, released the tracklist and everything.

I'm so happy he's in, awesome guy with awesome music.
 
Is there any news if getting that Zeppelin will work by getting GTA from a local store (not from an online store)? So far, I haven't read anything about specific stores and Rockstar just says everyone that preoders gets one.

Amazon says they give the codes out here in Germany but my local store has no idea about it at all and I'm not very sure that I properly preordered the game. The lady just reserved a copy for me (I didn't get the poster because I wanted the special edition)...
 
I have officially hit hype overload. I cant stop refreshing this thread! All I can think about is GTA V!! I'm playing Splinter Cell and Dark Souls and this game is still on my mind! I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Any word on which version runs better?

I'll probably get it on 360. I honestly thought there was no way this game would run without streaming from the HDD. So glad to see that MS budged for this game.

No way to know what version runs best, but Rockstar has been very vocal on stating that the difference will be negligible, also they've been demoing it exclusively on PS3, so take that as you may.

It's going to be a code in the case of every first run copy of the game.

I get that "bawbag" is specific Scottish slang, but "BAWSAQ" should still be pretty obvious to pretty much any English speaker, methinks. I grew up in LA and got it immediately when I saw it back in GTA IV.
