Chappelle walks off stage

Fuck hecklers. I have no problem with what he did, in fact it was probably the only option he had. It sucks for him and anyone who wanted a good show.

Saw about this on Patton Oswalt's twitter feed last night. Such bullshit that this happened to a funny guy like Chapelle.

Like other CT gaffers in this thread, I apologize for the morons from my state that were at the show.

The funniest thing about that Bill Burr clip is how angry they get when he makes fun of their sports teams. There's definitely an overlap between 'most obnoxious people in the room' and 'biggest sports fans'. He did good.

Why didn't the venue boot them out..?

Kinda sucks but for real this could have been avoided if the venue was doing its job.

Lol at this backfiring on OP though when he makes blanket statements and can't back them up.

Has fuck all to do with the quality and success of Chapelle's Show.

Exactly, it doesn't. Nor does it have anything to do with the quality of his Comedic work. OP just wants to bash Chappelle because he did one thing he doesn't agree with. Even thought clearly the audience did not allow him to do his job on stage which he tried to do.

I can't blame him for walking off the stage. And man, rewatched that Bill Burr routine when he got heckled in Philly. That was amazing.

Love the countdown.

I don't know where this idea that i hate Dave Chappelle came from. I am a big fan of his stand up material. Killin them softly is one of my favourite routines of all time

I went to the first stop of the Oddball Fest last week and he was funny but at this point he is definitely not much of a stand-up comedian. He made me laugh, but it was mostly just talking and observing and responding a bit to the crowd. One guy was going to be tossed out but he told them not to do it and kinda segued it into a bit.

Towards the end of his 45 minutes, he thanked us jokingly for sitting through it since he'd only done 11 minutes of actual material. He talked about how he was legitimately going crazy for awhile but stressed it wasn't due to drugs (not sure I believe that personally).
haha, I knew it was the right idea to miss that show! Too fucking hot.

I don't understand why our social culture has evolved into this thing where it's okay to yell during movies, stand up or when people are doing speeches.

I think it might be that this generation sucks so much. And is so egotistical, that they don't realize their own shit be stinkin. The why did parents bring them up with god complexes?

Makes me wish for some dictatorship, just to keep the douchebaggery in check! Learn some manners kids! and get of me lawn!

sucks for that crowd, they didn't deserve him

Dave live in person is one of the best comedians I have ever seen. His show was garbage compared to him live.

Wow OP is a jerk for making a post like that. Don't even include the fact that he was being heckled and didn't even include the fact that he tried to tell jokes while the heckling was going on and waited till the time was done to actually leave.

The best part apparently he asked the DJ to play new slaves as he exited

Can't really fault him for anything there, it looks like he handled it better than a lot of other people would have.

I went to a show where they told hecklers either quiet down, or they would be escorted out.

It's bullshit man. Have some respect for the performer and rest of audience.

Might stem from the fact that you've already created a thread about Chappelle and now you go and make another one where this time you post a link of him walking off stage, without any context to the situation and just open with this -

He handled this terribly imo

Told you guys Chappelle just isn't as good as some make him out to be.

And you're wondering why people are jumping on your back about it? lmao

Saw him at the Dallas oddball last Sunday and it was great. With that many people, of course times gonna get noisey. I don't know the full context but I think chappelle probably overreacted

He was funny but definitely not as sharp as he was in prior standup. Success stresses him out I guess

He still can't shed his Chappelle show shtick sadly. People will never forget I'm Rick James, bitch. You either deal with it or don't do stand-up no more.

Sucks for the people who paid good money and didn't heckle

OP claimed in his previous thread that he is a fan of Chappelle as a stand up comedian but Chappelle's show was overrated.

Now the OP uses Chappelle's stand up to prove he is overrated.

I don't think he over reacted. For one he tried to tell joke over the noise even until his time. And 2 the hecklers wouldn't let him

The video is all that is needed really. A good comedian encourages hecklers and comes up with material on the spot. Obviously Chappelle just isn't as witty as people on here make out. He said absolutely nothing funny while being heckled, instead he just sat down smoking weed.

Oh wow

I'd have to say this is my favorite heckler ownage from a comedian. At 2:21, all the build up turns harsh and he effectively shuts the heckler the hell up afterwards. That's how it's done.

Chappelle was right to be annoyed with that front row, but he's way too clever to NOT snap back.

Please go do some standup up at your local comedy club and post that shit here.

No. Comedians don't like being heckled, and therefore wouldn't encourage it. Some are pretty good at popping back—many others just get so angry that it can almost feel witty.

But snappy, rapid comebacks are not the key, defining factor in the quality of comedian, these guys are not winging it up there—the material is prepared in advance. That's like saying you're a shitty writer if you can't pen a brilliant short story while I wait.

A comedian should always have back up material. Most comebacks you see from comedians are just recycled jokes from their stand up or generic pre written insults. Chappelle shouldn't be going on stage if he isn't ready.

People in this thread can hate me for my negativity toward Chappelle, but all i'm doing is telling the truth.

And again I don't hate Chappelle

This bores me.

Joe Rogan called this a "meltdown"? If this was a meltdown, sign me up for Dave's patience seminar.

That was someone tweeting at Joe Rogan. As far as I can see Joe Rogan has yet to comment on this (on his twitter, at least), it's all just scheduling stuff for stand up and JRE stuff.
