Adam Sessler"Titan Fall one of the Most Enjoyable things I've played at a Convention"

When you start to see the impressions of the media you'll notice they're arriving very clearly at the same conclusion: Gameplay.

You see, when other games are merely flexing their "Post-processing visuals" muscles, Titanfall went the opposite direction and focus their entire aspect on gameplay & player agency. The fact that jetpacks, wallrun, Titan mode all blend in one synchronous game style is by far the only reason why this game stands out against the other "next-gen" titles.

This is what we mean when games are built from the ground up at 60fps. You have faster response time, quicker controller adaptation and you begin to play the game as it was supposed to without worrying whether or not the input will go against you.

After these previews I hate no doubt this game will deliver in fucking spades. At first I was underwhelmed to the the "visuals" but the fact that their gameplay is being shed light upon reveals the true potential that "next-gen" gaming hasn't exactly brought to the table. Will definitely get it once it hits Origin next year.

Yeah, out of the next gen shooters revelead so far, this looks like the most fun, and that's the keyword here. Respawn have the right mindset it seems.

The coverage this game has been receiving really isn't anything outlandish by AAA game standards. You want shitty games that get way too much coverage, well then let's go flog the AC games.

Agreed. I've been saying this in other threads.

Because it is. We see this every year when the new Call of Duty gets hyped by the media and receives laughably high ratings.

Titanfall is CoD with mechs and jumping, same procedure.

So you think GTA is also fabricated hype and doesn't deserve it?

Titanfall played amazingly from what I've played, the gamepace is way faster than CoD

Really hyped for this, the graphics are nice enough and the gameplay looks really really fun.

I'am sure it will reignite that fun feeling I had with modern warfare in its early years.

Dont know how I'am gonna play it though seeing how I sold my 360, I might have to get an X1 for it. I could spend £80 and get a 7770 for my PC(now i have a 5450,which wont cut it), but I think I cant be bothered with drivers + and having to use mouse and PC or spend another £50 on a 360 controller and pc adapter.

This has to be one of the hardest next gen purchases ever, both consoles have things I want and neither one has everything I want.

The power of the MS moneyhat may work on me

It's not port begging when we already know it's a timed exclusive thanks to CBOAT. Actually I don't see how you could take a prediction as begging regardless of circumstances.

im pretty much sure that if titanfall move lots of consoles...ms will pay how much they ask to have it ala "halo" exclusive...

Titanfall is owned by EA

You think EA is going to keep what they're banking on as being the next CoD exclusive to the xb1? Really?

I'm not really that interested in another FPS, but the fact that they're bringing back skill-based movement sounds promising. The classics such as Quake III were very fast games, movement was just as much a part of the game as shooting. Even modern examples such as Team Fortress 2 use techniques like "rocket jumping". I find many, if not all console shooters have forsaken this aspect because of the limitations of the controller in favor of mechanics that intentionally slow down the gameplay such as ADS.

I may try the game out on PC when it is released with mouse and keyboard, but I am curious as to how it will translate with a controller. There have been reports, such as with Killzone SF removing aim-assist that suggest the new controllers (both?) are a little more precise than before, which would be great for console users.

The excitement for this game is genuine. A friend of mine got to play this at GamesCom and he's really not easily impressed but Titanfall is on his must-buy list. I have no reason to believe the hype is fabricated, from a gameplay standpoint (they've played a level at GC where you don't even necessarily need to touch the floor) it seems more interesting to me at least than COD:Ghosts or BF4.

And that's the thing this gen BF,CoD and Halo were the go to games for a huge majority. There all good games, but put something new in front of people and they'll sit up and pay attention if it's good.

I think TF being new I.P and being a FPS has gotten a lot of eyeballs on it which some paranoid gaffers see as people getting brought off.

Unless of course it's a game they like. Then it's genuine excitement.

Can't wait to play this on Xbox one:) this will be a system seller and will help MS continue the momentum up over Xmas.

CBOAT is not infallible as we've seen recently so until we see it actually confirmed. It should surely be classed as port begging?

Because I'm not really sure what saying I'm waiting for the PS4 version actually adds to these threads?

I'm really hoping it somehow leaks exactly when this is coming to PS4. It would certainly be appreciated.

Respawn has all but confirmed it on camera already. See the Keighly interview on Gametrailers.

About the same as saying "can't wait to play it" I'd figure.

Euro gamer had an interview with Respawn where they all but confirmed timed exclusivity.

I can understand the disbelief of hype about this game, it's not about titanfall at all, but the utter lack of faith at the media. They've fucked up a lot of times, hyped every game alive with "AAA" features and so on. It's normal to be a bit cautious. You get often these threads "Games reviewers were completely off base with" and lots of mentions with hypes AAA games.

Playing is believing. Believing the press is not.

I'm just worried the game will be too accessible and easy to play like CoD. None of the guns looked like they had recoil, titans killed soldiers with damn near a single bullet from their chainguns.

I'm not really into the "I saw you first so I win" type of multiplayer CoD offers. This looks like it could fall into that trap.

This is exactly my problem with it. From all the human gunfights, it looked like COD. The mech battles look great though. Im on the Destiny bandwagon. I'm not a fan of "accessible" strong aim assist 1 hit kill nonsense.

Not my cup of tea (I find most fps games shallow in the gameplay department). But this looks very good, and the gameplay looks deeper than most fps games.

That's the problem with the game industry's hyper aggressive marketing and incestuous PR/Media relationships. There is so much bullshit out there there is no way to tell the wheat from the chaff. I don't blame anyone for being cynical when it comes to games marketing, especially when EA and Microsoft are involved.

So like I said, yipee that EA gives out what amounts to 24 hour PC demos now.

The problem is that people are completely skewing the actual issue -- I don't think there's a lot of intentional bribing and such going on, like "Hey, here's some money, write a good review.". It's probably more like "journalists" know developers or representatives from the publisher or developer of the game they are writing about, and feel more inclined towards talking positively about it.

However, I don't think the representatives or developers have any special training in deception and persuasion, so if the publishers or developers intentionally order their employees to "get to know them", the journalists would probably find out about that really quickly through their behaviour. So, it's unlikely that they are "faking" their relationship just to increase the odds of a journalist writing positively about their game.

I think that, since they hang out in the same circles very often, they are probably just friends, and as such, the journalist friend might feel more inclined towards writing positively about their "friends" game.

Like, the representative of the publisher or developer would most likely have a positive bias for a game his or her company makes, and unintentionally try to push that bias onto her or his friend. The journalist friend of the representative friend would have some positive bias for his or her friend regardless.

It seems like, in most other circles, the journalists/reviewers are more like their own team -- as in, they hang with each other, or, to exaggerate it, in an "us (critics.) vs. them (movie makers.)" situation. The games industry blurs the lines.

Delta Force Black Hawk Down, for example, was very much a "I saw you first" - you can't take much damage AT ALL. However, the pro players were capable of completely dominating. I'm not sure how it worked, since I didn't play it much at all, but I assume it had something to do with the large maps, and room for strategy or tactics.

Some people are brushing this game off simply because it might be available on another platform in the future. If it was a true exclusive would that make it a better (or worse) game?

I wonder if SOE will be tempted to add mechs to Planetside 2 when Titanfall becomes successful...

it looks fun, but at this moment in time (and because I have a PS4 on order) I'll be getting Destiny...

Not interested in the PC version (yet) and have zero interest in owning an XB1 for a few years...(if ever)

Some notes:

- Ea owns Titan not respawn.

- A year exclusive is still an exclusive.

- Yes ms has the money to make it a real exclusive if it does well enough.. See gears

Looking forward to Dark Souls 2 and Phantom Pain but nothing tops Titanfall. Going to spend hours playing this (after the first week when all the server errors are experienced due to too much traffic lol)

This game plays and feels like call of duty. Engine looks the same to me. I don't think i will be picking up this game any time soon. Not into call of duty make overs.
