3DS Streetpass Experiences

Whoa did not realize that another Symphony of the Goddesses was coming to Chicago.

Definitely going to go to that for the music but the streetpasses I'll probably get will be icing on the cake.

Also the concert is the same day Link Between Worlds comes out. Awesome Zelda filled day!

So, I've just become a Master Gardener....
I've completed Warrior's Way for the first time, and my army is now at 30,000.
Level 2-2 on Mii Force gave me a lot of trouble. I hate the fact that if you die on a boss on one of the levels, you have to go through the entire level again.
And I've finally beaten Sir X Ray in Monster Manor (who forced me to completely restart first time round.)

Missing out on so many tags at PAX because of how long these new games take. I'm starting to run just Flower Town and Warrior's Way (and I'm starting to skip that when I don't see anyone jumping for joy in front of it) just to save time and it is still taking longer to get through a queue than it did when it was just Puzzle Swap and Find Mii.

I haven't finished WW/Battle and my army is 45k.

I think I'm doing it wrong.
The problem is doing it right (near empty queue to stop your army getting too big*) means doing most the other games wrong. It could also be you are not being confident in your luck or skill (you can generally take on slightly bigger armies by putting all your troops into 2 types, but sometimes the troop splits will get you).

*-The response being the next opponent gets an even bigger one

I'm at over 100k with 4 or 5 kingdoms left. My top 10 is all in the millions...the downside of being on #teamevil (well that and the Streetpass squad high scores being the same...except hard arcade mode, nobody plays that)

Going into Warrior's with a big queue is fine... as long as you never lose a battle. I'm currently stuck at a 9,999,999 strong army of berserkers because I lost against it twice and thus I have a 1.3 million deficit to make up just to get the fight back into the realm of possibility. I don't do any relay cheating either, so I'm relying on passing people at PAX with huge armies because there's no way this deficit will be made up under normal circumstances this year at my normal non-battle acquisition rate.

I would just lose a close battle and wait to build up a much larger force.

And I use all my play coins in Mansion, so no spying or hiring troops.

Went to the Nintendo Experience Tour event in Ann Arbor earlier today. Streetpass hardly worked. There were at least 15 people with a 3DS there, not to mention the demo units that also had wifi on

All I could get were 5 Mii Plaza tags and 4 New Leaf tags

Fucking berserkers.

Was it in a Nintendo Zone? Reportedly, Nintendo Zones mess with StreetPass effectiveness a bit, probably because the 3DS has a tough time juggling the two different wireless connections.

Basically the 3DS has 2 wireless modes, internet and streetpass. Only one can be active at once. I think the 3DS in sleep will eventually disconnect from a Nintendo zone but I'm not sure if it tries to reconnect.

This makes me wonder if 3DS sound not being able to activate internet mode while playing an MP3 (or at least not for me) could be a workaround.

For your sanity cheese it in the future. Rage quit Mii plaza when you're about to lose. The game tells you off. If you try to rage quit again you lose 10% troops anyway but if you do nothing instead of battle this resets that (or so I'm told).

Is there any way of disabling the new Streetpass Games? I'm not really a fan of Garden and I don't want it to be collecting data or anything for it..

("You haven't used everyone for Garden yet.. are you sure you want to go to entrance?" urgh.)

About to face the emperor for the first time in Battle. Should I suicide my troop level down using monarchs or just greet them all* and hope I don't increase much? I'm at 150k which means the emperor could have like 450k-1200k (I've heard its between 3x to 8x). If anyone wondered about those numbers, the battle format is is a bit different to the rest of the game...

*-Which reminds me, greeting one you could totally crush is the equivalent of rating someone so-so.

Try deleting it? (settings menu in Mii plaza can delete games individually) Hopefully it won't then change to "it appears you do not have Garden installed, would you like to download it? It is totally free."

Got 4 streetpasses in one day yesterday. My most successful ever. All I had to do was carry it around a busy city centre all day and visit 3 Nintendo Zones.

I don't think the 3DS is terribly popular 'round my way. That or people leave 'em at home. It's a shame because I like the streetpass games and I'd probably buy one or two more if I actually got a decent number of passes.

Mii Plaza offered an update. Anyone know what it does? Just stability or something? Admittedly Battle has crashed for me a few times.

I got seven hundred and sixty-one tags this weekend and got 100% in all fifteen stages of Mii Force.

A good time was had by all.

.....wat?

Did you go to some sort of Streetpass event?

Does that mean you had to check your 3DS 76 times? (you can only get ten at once, can't you?).

My mind is boggling at that number. I feel like that would be enough to 100% all basic streetpass content in one hit.

At PAX, I'm guessing? Did you actually get to do/see anything at the convention?! ;)

Any large gaming event/conventions will help you complete those puzzles, and other games really fast.

I'm actually lucky to streetpass regularly with someone so I can take my time in Monster Manor.

The Nintendo Zone/Streetpass feature doesn't seem to work with me. My system's up to date, and I've driven through the parking lot of several McD's (and confirmed the N-Zone is available) but my green light never goes off.

Is there something I have to do on the system or does it work just like normal street passing (i.e. a leisurely drive through the parking lot in sleep mode should be enough)?

Yeah it's wonky for me.

When I go out looking for them it never works.

When I'm out randomly driving and go past one I always get one.

It searches a few times a minute then once a connection is made it can take some time. Also being able to see a connection (triggers Nzone available) and being able to interact with one are different things (the 3DS wireless range is not great).

Also opening the 3DS, going to home menu, notifications menu or anything will disconnect you and you have to wait to reconnect. There is also some software that will not allow internet even in sleep mode (I guess spotpass) such as 3DS sound.

Do you know if those spots have been seeded yet? You'll only get data if there is data to get. Also do normal streetpasses work? (if not change hats on your Mii, that tends to fix issues)

I've been having some major issues with local Nintendo Zones (i've tried six over the last week). My system recognizes the zone, but it wouldn't allow me to download the ACNL item or pick up relay passes.

I thought it was an issue with my system, but I've tried multiple systems at each of the zones and it's still shitting the bed.

Thanks for the info.

Also being able to see a connection (triggers Nzone available) and being able to interact with one are different things.

I've noticed that Nzone itself is painfully slow any time I've ever tried to use it anywhere.

I'm not doing that usually. I only did it the first time to confirm Nzone availability and wi-fi strength. Most of the time I just leisurely drive around the building with my system in sleep mode.

No, I don't know for sure, but I'd think there was enough traffic at these locations to get at least one other hit. If the previous seeder has to have updated their system/mii plaza I can see where that would be a problem since most 3DS users are kids and may never do that. It would severely limit the pool of potential Nzone passers. Normal SPs work just fine.

Yeah, I've tried picking up the ACNL item at these locations as well and it never has worked. Again, normal SPs and all wi-fi functions work fine at home.

Anime Fest in Dallas.

And I did spend a lot of time hanging out with friends there.

Basically, although I did not have a full ten every time so it was checked more than that.

Well there are eight hundred and eight-nine puzzle pieces, so if you were starting from scratch it's not enough.

I really only sent Miis to Mii Force and Warrior's Way for the most part, with that many coming in constantly, you would not be able to pay attention to every game (but I am also finished with all of Find Mii).

I used GAF's Mac spoof address and it worked so I know my 3DS is working in that regard. Guess either the spots I think are zones are not or they are so slow I never connect to them fast enough when my bus zooms past.

Conventions are amazing for Streetpassing. I got 150 on the one day I went to Festigame 2013 here in Chile.

I hope the new Pokémon games require the StreetPass relay update to boot up (3DS games can have firmware updates included, Super Mario 3D Land, for example).

It would really make things easier for everyone regarding StreetPass; I suspect there's an absurd amount of people out there (especially kids) who don't update their 3DS.

just dropped by a McDonalds for a coffee and got a tag. Still have no clue if it was a genuine or pseudo-StreetPass, though. :(

Anyone has had this issue with Warrior's Way?
Every time the game tries to save or load the the army rankings, it crashes. It only happens in Warrior's Way.

I just got it the the day before yesterday :|

- Edit -
Here is a video of the issue:

Just got it today. Have 20/22 tickets in that game, so if they never fix it, will just be out two hats. Hope they fix it, though. For my situation, usually play all the games in order (Mii Force, Flower Town, Warriors's Way, Monster Manor). What was different about this run is that 1) had just beat the
real
boss in Monster Manor on the previous Homepass group and 2) went to Warrior's Way first with the Homepass group this time. Am guessing going to Warrior's Way first is the most likely of those two to be the culprit. Words of warning ...

I think playing Streetpass on two devices is a little too much :/
I get about 5 streetpass a day on each device... and I'm feeling the fatigue :/

Well, an update fixing bugs in Mii force and Warrior's Way was just released in Japan and Europe, hopefully it hits the rest of the world soon.

Update v3.2 addresses the following:
- Under certain conditions, if there is a crash during Warrior’s Way or Mii Force, we addressed the issue and allow the game to be continued.
- In addition, we fixed minor issues to enhance the performance of the application.

Cool! Saw the Japan note above, but with a European release, that means they should be rolling it out soon to the U.S, too. Thanks!
