Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

perfect time for a 64gb card announcement :)

If they cost 100$/80€? I don't want it. They seriously need to cut down memory prices. I hope sales have picked up after the price drop. Maybe with more consoles sold Sony can drop the prices faster or something.
____

In Japan the Vita sales seems to be going up a little at least. Is not as doomed as a year ago, so its good. It's starting to receive some cool games that i hope come to the west. Their TGS line up is good so far. Even though, I expect some announcements in the conference.

- New game from Tecmo Koei. They seem to have a very good relationship with Sony lately.
- Maybe one game for internal studios (GR 2?). Three studios are busy right now (Pupeteer, Knac and FWars) some must be in the dark.

I don't think there will be more announced, altough I wish they bring Pupeteer to the Vita. 2D platformers are perfect in hanheld. I prefer using my PS3 for wider and impactful experiences.

Ok vita gaf I have 2 questions.

Does anyone think AC liberation will go PS+ soon? If not;

Is it any good? I really want to play it. I enjoyed 3 so anyone care to help?

Thanks!

I loved the game. I never really noticed terrible frame rates (they do dip) in New Orleans, not to unplayable levels. Thing is, it's a fully populated town. It's quite a feat for Vita.

I loved the lighting, Avelines persona and the story. I followed the game through to the end and its a authentic Assassins Creed game. Just portable.

I'm very thrilled for PS4 Black Flag (more Aveline story continued from Vita) :P

Wouldn't be surprised to see La Mulana and Cave Story coming to PS4.PS3/Vita as well.

I wish. I hear they had a terrible experience putting La-Mulana on WiiWare which makes it very unlikely that they would go through the porting process again.

Killzone 1.01 Day1 Patch - 1190MB (Retail, EU)

Wtf, I don't have enough space for that.
Just insanity. Desperately needs some optimization on that D: DiveKick really threw me with their day 1 patch of 578mb or so, but this is absurd. Yea it's the systems best looking game...but I mean come on.

On a totally unrelated note, I went through my usual mass-downloading-the-night-before-the-store-updates sprees last evening. Got Dragon Fantasty for 2.50 (cause it was on sale, never really interested me before), Machinarium, and the 2 pinball games.

Didn't get to play Machinarium yet. Will likely be my relaxing game when I don't feel like getting too inviolved in racing, shooting, or evading large scary ghosts.

Before I go into my impressions of these pinball games, I feel I need to say I am not a "Pinball Aficionado". My history of pinball includes - the random game at an arcade from time to time, Sonic Spinball, Windows 98 Pinball, and Alien Crush for TurboGrafix 16. Even still, I feel I have a good enough eye to be able to spot the good and bad in these types of games, aside from board layout. Which, is likely about 50-70% of the game. Anyway...

Pinball Arcade FINALLLY worked for me, after it went free for Plus members however many months ago. I put a little time in tthis before work this morning, and I have to say I very much dislike where the free tables are located in the menus, took some guess work to find them. But, the gameplay is very smooth and responsive. I felt the ball physics were pretty dang solid, everything seemed to function about as it would irl. The presentation of the actual gameplay is pretty great I think, but all the menus and everything else don't look so hot to me. The different camera angles were nice, but nothing to write home about.

The Star Wars Pinball for Zen Pinball was my other download. The ball physics were the first thing that I noticed. It seemed....just 'off". Didn't quite seem right. BUT it did seem like other pinball videogames I have seen. I did have a little more fun with the SW Pinball though than the Pinball Arcade in my short time with both the morning. However, I did notice one thing by accident that is AMAZING. After one round, I noticed the menu was all sideways. This struck me as odd. I was laying down while playing it, so my system was a little crooked. THEN I noticed the auto orientation with the turning of the system. This blew my mind. Being able to hold the Vita vertically was a little odd, but for some reason it looked so awesome! then using the touchscreen for the paddles was so simple. I am tempted to buy more tables for Zen Pinball, despite my dislike for the physics, all because of that vertical orientation. It just loos so goood.

Really makes me wish Cave was still around, or that some company would find a way to have a vertical shmup with a solid control scheme. Heck, even the iOS versions of DoDonPachi were very solid for it being all touch. I'd drop another 10-20 on an HD version on that glorious OLED.

Speaking of TGS I can't wait to see some real J-Stars Victory gameplay. I hope that they show some gameplay on a Vita and PS3. While the game sounds cool and has a pretty solid roster as is. I still need to see how people use the characters, how much freedom you have on the map, and if their's any kinds of combos or skill in the game.

It'll also help me decide if I want it on Vita or PS3.

Also isn't there some kind of event for Sony happening before TGS showing off some games or something?

New little king's story is really easy lol, i made the boss of the seventh princess with only 3 archers and one gigacarpenter lol.
I have a question, i paid for armors and weapons programs, how do they work? Do they give me armors and weapons? How?
And what about school? Donating does something?

What improvements would you guys like to see in Gravity Rush 2?

- better commands for the dash, i really hated them and those were the reason why i haven't platinumed it
- native res better graphics
- a more interactive world, like other open world games

I'm going to buy a memory card but I don't know if I want to drop 80 bucks on the 32. That's a lot of damn money for a card. I was thinking of going the 16 gb route and buying some of the bigger releases physically, like Killzone. Chances are I'll be carrying it in a bag with a case so I have room for the cards.

Dragon Fantasy Book I
Dragon Fantasy Book II (next week)
Still waiting on Book I in the PAL region :(
HOLY. Rayman Legends is BEAUTIFUL on the Vita screen.
Glad to hear it looks nice. That and portability are probably the two main reasons I'm rebuying it on Vita, the Wii U gamepad just doesn't beat dat OLED screen.
What improvements would you guys like to see in Gravity Rush 2?
More worlds/environments from the concept art being put in the sequel, better resolution (wishful thinking on my part) and general gameplay improvements.

Edit: Damn! Those screenshots look great!

Same here, it'll be nice to finally see it in action. (more than just in short trailers) I'm already set on the Vita version though.

FOR GODS SAKE BUY MERURU.

Need to play Totori first? No problem! Buy it anyway!

If we don't get the Rorona remake I will blame each and every one of you! (^-^)

Does this come out in NA today? Pricing?

I'm mixed emotions with JRPGs (love SMTIV, Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, etc), as I really got into them this gen. Is Meruru a good game? Is it fun? Do your powers and spell effects grow?

I'm impressed with the art style and its adorable!

So if I bite its either that or Guacamelee and HL Miami (in addition to Rayman Legends)

So GunHo will have at least two new titles for TGS...I'm hoping at least one of them is for vita

I won't mind a Ragnarok Odyssey sequel. Co Op was mad fun

i'm going to suggest guac and HL over Meruru - but it comes down to what game you are in the mood to get.

Thank you for the input. I'm quite torn. Bah.

It's just so Adorable! (Merirurururueuru) lol

Sigh.

Sweet. Very stoked. 34 minutes to go (Gamestop opens at 10)

I don't know about meruru, but i played tototi and if it's similar then it's a good game, totori is very different from other jrpgs, it's very feminine and cute(in a good way lol), you are basically free to do what you want, there's no world to save, you just need to make enough missions and alchemies to become an adventurer to be able to find totori's missing mother.
There are lots of characters each one tied to a different ending, if you want a specific ending you have to do certain things.
The only thing i don't like is the time restriction, you have 6 or 7(in-game)years to finish the game, and while it's not hard to do it would have been more enjoyable playing without bothering about the time(probably i would have ended playing it even more).

One of them is probably Divine Gate which GungHo revealed yesterday for iOS and Android. It's a "Panel RPG" developed by Acquire. The teaser site says that there will be a huge announcement at TGS.

This was weird.
I thought that rayman legends would only come out next week on europe and sony would only charge my card this friday but it charged it today and in the receipt it says:

Launch date of the pre-order game: 05/09/2013 @ 12:00 AM

Is the gaming coming out this week? And on thursday? Weird. =O

What improvements would you guys like to see in Gravity Rush 2?

I'd like to see combat changes implemented through different characters:

- Keep Kat mostly the same, general sequel improvements, make her ground string have a few more options, keep her the "free and loose" combat type. I'd like to see her keep the knowledge of what she earned from Game 1, so maybe Game 2 could work on giving her new flavors of abilities, rather than relearning the same tree.

- Someone who uses the Tech of the world to fight in more orthodox ways. Give them lock-on, Virtua-on Style shot strafing, and maybe something like AoE Traps. Air control, but with more control, I guess you could say.

- A ground-based character that only gets around with leaps, and staying on the ground normally. They'd be the one that really lets you have fun with the ground combat system, with more branches and techniques than any other.

Native Res Graphics would be nice. Style > Resolution, though.

Reduced loading time across the board, but EXPECIALLY for retrying challenges. Make the challenges accessible from a hub, too, so you can play the missions as "quick moments break" minigames.

I already thought the stage design variety was pretty solid; they had art styles and places in the game they barely ever used at all; I still find it one of the freshest 3D adventures I've seen in a while. Expand on this even more; give us some 2.5D sequences and maybe even Sonic 2 Bonus Stage style "linear path" things to play around in.

Also wouldn't mind getting to see Kat age a bit. Games suck at showing time progression for characters, so actually getting to see such a thing in a game I love as much as GR would be quite welcome.

Oh, and a gallery mode to let one view the Comic Cinematic works & maybe even the game models, as well. I thought the magazine cover-style Trophies of the first game were a nice nod to "in game collectables", so I'd love to see them take that theme further, for everything.

As long as they keep the same personality and fun of the first game, I'm sure I'll strongly enjoy it. But had to voice a few desires, as unlikely as some of them might be!

Toyama hinted big time in a tweet some months back that he was working on Gravity Rush 2.

Edit - Actually, it wasn't some months back - try a year! How time flies.

I think there also have been other hints from him since then.

I wish. I hear they had a terrible experience putting La-Mulana on WiiWare which makes it very unlikely that they would go through the porting process again.
Sony's been having success with hooking smaller devs up with studios experienced at console development like Curve and Abstraction though. That's how Hotline Miami got ported, in spite of the original dev team being two guys who've got their hands full fixing bugs on the PC version and working on the sequel.

A bunch of Rayman Legends screenshots:

So... for some unknown reason sony fucked up and deleted my purchases for Rayman origins and Lumines (Both purchased at launch). Called them up and apparently if all goes well im getting my PSN credit back for both.

I can confirm this. Funny thing the automated preload is still set for the 10th september.

Maybe they want to get the game out before the cut content backlash gets bigger.

Yikes! Makes you wonder how something like that even happens. There's no easy way to check too sadly. Just going through it one day, looking for an old purchase, then BAM! Sad times abound D;

Celebratory edit: I'm a member now, wooooOOOO!!!!!!!

Anybody else have Rayman Legends yet? I'm wondering if the challenge mode is not working for anyone else. Says the servers are unavailable or something, but its been hours.
