Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

So... for some unknown reason sony fucked up and deleted my purchases for Rayman origins and Lumines (Both purchased at launch). Called them up and apparently if all goes well im getting my PSN credit back for both.

Can't you find the games on your download list? Rayman also appears as not bought for me on the Store page, but it's available from my download list. This happens to some games on PSN.

I'm actually redownloading Rayman Origins right now, going to replay it to get over how disappointing Rayman Legends is.

So Dynasty Warriors 8, Samurai Warriors 2 HD, Warriors Orochi 3 AND Dynasty Warriors Gundam 4 are all gonna be on Vita?

Vita is portable musou heaven.

Still waiting on Book I in the PAL region :( Glad to hear it looks nice. That and portability are probably the two main reasons I'm rebuying it on Vita, the Wii U gamepad just doesn't beat dat OLED screen. More worlds/environments from the concept art being put in the sequel, better resolution (wishful thinking on my part) and general gameplay improvements.

Edit: Damn! Those screenshots look great! Same here, it'll be nice to finally see it in action. (more than just in short trailers) I'm already set on the Vita version though.
Book I will be available later this year in PAL regions!

You sure that Book 1 is worth it?

It doesn't look so hot to me. Book 2 looks better though.
If you're into old RPGs then yes, it's worth it. I should have some Book II impressions up later this week.

wait, what? i had a bit of a hectic weekend. what have i missed with regards to rayman legends?

I can confirm this. Funny thing the automated preload is still set for the 10th september.

Maybe they want to get the game out before the cut content backlash gets bigger.

yup, i checked that and it also says 10th of september.
so weird. maybe it was to get our pre-order cash before the NA launch of the game and the press start to talk about the less levels.

but that's me speculating! xD
also the game coming out on thursday? that's news to me about a game on psn coming out thursday.

Sony's been having success with hooking smaller devs up with studios experienced at console development like Curve and Abstraction though. That's how Hotline Miami got ported, in spite of the original dev team being two guys who've got their hands full fixing bugs on the PC version and working on the sequel.
That, and I don't think if La-Mulana's problems were with development so much as with their first publisher, Nicalis.

The game was out on JP WiiWare for a year and three months before Nicalis announced they weren't going to publish it anymore. They said Nigoro hadn't been able to fix bugs/issues that prevented the game from getting certification in NA/EU, and development had taken so long that a WiiWare release was no longer viable.
...Oddly, when EnjoyUp took over publishing (I think the deal was inked in July) all those issues that couldn't be fixed in a year and three months...were fixed within three months. Hmmm...

wait, what? i had a bit of a hectic weekend. what have i missed with regards to rayman legends?

The game is generally too easy, feels like a level pack, a significant number of levels were designed for Wii U local multiplayer and are dull when played in single player... and 28 of the most challenging levels are not present in the Vita version.

This was weird.
I thought that rayman legends would only come out next week on europe and sony would only charge my card this friday but it charged it today and in the receipt it says:

Launch date of the pre-order game: 05/09/2013 @ 12:00 AM

Is the gaming coming out this week? And on thursday? Weird. =O
For what's worth, my Amazon.uk order also got a new date, this thursday (a week earlier).

There's 25+ levels missing and everyone is angry

easier than rayman origins? hm...i'm not sure how i feel about that. how many levels are in the game? is 28 a lot?

The 28 levels are the most challenging ones I believe. Speed run type things. A mash up of the first games levels.

Adding so much content from the previous game should have set spider senses tingling anyways.

wait, so are the 28 missing levels from the first game? or are they completely new for rayman legends?

I'm not really clear on it. Ubi haven't set the record straight either.
I gather its the first games levels re-jigged for speed runs and hard challenges. That's my take on it.

Does this come out in NA today? Pricing?

I'm mixed emotions with JRPGs (love SMTIV, Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, etc), as I really got into them this gen. Is Meruru a good game? Is it fun? Do your powers and spell effects grow?

I'm impressed with the art style and its adorable!

So if I bite its either that or Guacamelee and HL Miami (in addition to Rayman Legends)
Yes, Meruru is good, but different from many jrpgs in that there is no big bad boss. Very similar to the others in the series, but no time limit. Cute art style and silly characters.

DAMN!!!!!! that is a big patch =OOOO
i'm receiving my 32gb card next week and i'm thinking it would not be enough to hold my games xD

really? no time limit? if so i'm sold!! *__*

What improvements would you guys like to see in Gravity Rush 2?

I have it fresh and I would like:

- Evade in the game is awful. I don't like it being a touch gimmick, but I hate evading in the air. It feels like you do nothing. And having to slide your finger when Navis throw you a bunch of bullets was awful. A larger evade when gravitating and changing input would be nice.
- Loading times are too long. If they can improve them it would be nice.
- The special habilities were really overpowered, especially Gravity Typhon. They could be weaker and have short cooldowns.
- I would love to see more side contents. Challenges can be fun (that throwing boxes into a square challenge wasn't, however xD), but i would love to do something more story related. There could be sidequests from people or something.

And, seriously, I want P5 in Vita so badly. They could give me a Vita P3 with both The Answer and female route to make the wait easier. I'm going to buy FES this year, but if they give me the chance, I will double dip the Vita ver instead. P3P was cool, but some times I feel i wasn't having the full experience.

Neither of those 2 games are on my download list

Retail > Digital

Every damn time. And my name is DigitalOp. So it means twice as much

Incorrect. But in this instance, I might just buy Killzone retail instead of digital, as my retail card slot is empty and finding another 1.1gb free is a pain in the ass... unless a 64+gb card magically appears.

That's a great price IMO. I might bite it at that price. I thought it was supposed to be $40.

Downloading the demo first.

Ubisoft gives the 10% digital discount, I believe.
Still too much for a game missing content.

40% less money for a game missing MAYBE 15% of the content (in the form of time trials)? Seems like a pretty good ratio to me. I still want the content, and I hope we figure out what's going on, but my goodness, man.

Since I couldn't care less about replaying Origins levels, I'd rather have the actually challenging levels that are mashups of the new levels.

So if I take the "over 120 levels, including 40 levels from Origins", that means there's 80-something levels in the full game that aren't remixed from Origins.
If I take 80-something and subtract 28 from it, I get 50-something, most likely. If I use 50 and 80, for arguments sake, the Vita version has 62.5% of the Legends content.
Even if I pull the 40 origins levels back in and substract the 28 levels, it's 25% of the content that's missing.

So for 10% less than I can buy it on PC, it's got 25% (37.5%) less (new) content to start with. Then I add in the Murfy levels where it's just touchscreen stuff... yeah, too much for me.

But if you're okay with all that, as you've said you are, I seriously hope you enjoy it. :)

They're mash ups of Legends levels, as I understand it, run from right to left instead of left to right and incorporate the time trials.

It's not time trials of levels in the game, it's 28 exclusive levels. The challenge of the game is just missing on Vita.

Is the game native resolution? Do the characters have jaggy edges (aliasing)? Sorry to ask a ton of questions...

One more: time limit (explain)?

So Dynasty Warriors 8, Samurai Warriors 2 HD, Warriors Orochi 3 AND Dynasty Warriors Gundam 4 are all gonna be on Vita?

Vita is portable musou heaven.

I'm pretty sure PSP had like 50,000 Dynasty Warriors games. Most of them didn't get localized, and there weren't any anime based ones though.

so Crossbone Gundam (aka best Gundam) on my Vita? good stuff if this real.

So glad I went for the physical pre-order at Amazon whilst it was £25 (and this is from someone with a 32GB card)

actually even 32Gb is not enough, having your PSP, PSone, Minis, Vita digital games will kill that card in no time, it's just really not enough and Sony need to offer bigger memory card. going Vita retail is the best option now, not only it save you huge amount of space on your memory card but retail games also get cheaper way faster than on PS store (and also you can resell or gift them if you want).

Totori Plus has a time limit, so crafting/exploring/etc. take days (think Persona 4, sorta)... if you don't complete certain events before a certain date, the game ends.

Jumped on legends and kickbeat, the way i see it we do get less levels but the game is also $24 cheaper. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Maybe we will se it as paid dlc ( i would bite)

My Vita arrived today, it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be but it is really nice. I've put some PS+ games on it and gravity rush is pretty decent as is Lumines.

I also tried remote play but what exactly can you use it for if you're not allowed to use PS3 games?

Only if you're comparing it to PS3 of 360.
It's $4.00 cheaper than Steam.
So that's a bunch of BS in my book. :P

Also, can someone explain to me the appeal of kickbeat? If I thought it looked boring in BlueMaxima's video, the demo isn't going to change my mind, I'd wager?

All PSOne games should work via remote play, though I'm not sure if the stuff that SCEA is withholding from us works (Crash, Spyro, R-Types, etc.)
Select PS3 games work (GoW 1&2 HD, ICO, SotC, Tokyo Jungle, etc.) unless you hack your PS3. Then you can get ALL games to work, though not all work well.

Hmmm, I want Killzone, but the Amazon pre-order doesn't come with the exclusive gun and I don't want to pre-order from Gamestopo.
I'm really needing to break my "digital only" rule here as I have 3983mb free without trying to clear stuff I don't want to take off my card at the moment. However, it seems that I'm going to have to pay $40 no matter what and miss out on the pre-order exclusive weapons if I go that way..
Why did you have to add a 1.1gb patch, Guerilla Cambridge! Effin' jerks.

Congrats.

Get Persona 4 Golden, try Soul Sacrifice demo and buy Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure, (it's a fantastic PSP action RPG)

outside of streaming PS3 games on Vita you can use Vita as a cross controller for some PS3 games (Sly, LBP2, MvC3, Guacamelee)

is there any online store that sell it with exclusive FOV slider?

I'm not the biggest Rayman fan. I bought Origins during the last sale, and am happy with it, but I won't be buying Legends unless another crazy sale occurs. But this is a shame what happened to the Vita version. It's a bunch of BS in my book too, coming from an extremely casual Rayman fan.

With my limited knowledge of KickBeat, I think the allure is a rhythm/music game, where your success (in the song) is shown by your on screen avatar pummelling the cpu avatar. Also, the ability to add your OWN music to make your own stages and fights seems like a win. I will be scoping out the demo for sure, but I really want to try the "add your own music mode" but I hear you have to beat the "story" mode first.

Some PS3 games work, like PixelJunk Eden.

Anyone excited for pre/TGS announcements?

Last year's conference was a disappointment at first but in the end we got:
- Gundam Breaker
- God Eater 2
- Toukiden
- Over My Dead Body 2
- Murasama
- Senran Kagura
- Valhalla Knights 3

Yeah, it's kind of funny how down we all were down (myself included!) with that TGS lineup when the software that's been released has sold pretty well.

Isn't GR2 team making Freedom Wars ?

No? Toyama hasn't said he's working on that game. There might be people from the team that developed Gravity Rush working on Freedom Wars, but that would be because SCE Japan Studio staff don't just sit around while a sequel is in the early stages of development. They go an help out other teams.

I really prefer the PSP versions of FF1 and FF2 to be uploaded but oh well SE being SE :/

It's available in Japan, and Europe. SE USA is being weird.
