I know most of this from my 50 Bard, it's more of a Gladiator only problem, I want to try levelling a tank and I feel Marauder may be too much for me given it's a more skilled tank class but Gladiator is just a slog to level in the early days thanks to no DPS and enemies which a few levels higher can overwhelm when trying to do the hunting log because you've so few skills to use. Obvious answer would be go Marauder but I'm afraid it would be too difficult.

I would argue that GLA is actually more difficult to successfully tank with, specially late game, where not only do you need to "tab" work your way on pulls with multiple mobs, but also need to time your defensive skills correctly.

Now don't take me wrong, I'm not saying that Warriors are easier to tank end game content, they certainly have their advantages and disadvantages, but I do feel that Warrior tanking overall can be a bit more forgiven for mistakes made.

Now if you ask a healer, most will probably tell you they prefer a good PLD tank over a Warrior as we tend to take less overall damage.

waaaaait a minute
hold on a second here
you can now reset the 30 stat points!??

i've been holding on to them for nothing?

So who is waking up at 3am to see if they can log on no problem and play for a few hours?

haven't touched xerexia since 1.23 though, still in her default pajamas for Realm Reborn

So I just noticed, if you close the server status window in the launcher it makes the indicator flicker back to green for a second.

FU SE.

Do you people not look @ your GC and the stuff they offer?

Some of the stuff in there is a goddamned treasure trove of goodies to use and abuse

You can buy manuals to power level your crafting/gathering by a few levels

Once I hit 50PLD, I'm taking mining to 50 with Armor/Smithing/Goldsmithing as the crafting, I'll tell you those manuals help out

If you have a stockpile of seals just keep buying manuals (you can only carry 1 of each!)
Repeat after you have used and finished your manual

Your Grand Company sells an item that will let you respec. It's not cheap by any means, but it's doable.

I think people from 1.0 that had previously unlocked an advanced job also would have one, I know the tablet item I got back then I thought was totally useless and threw on my retainer since i'm a pack rat ended up being the same as the stat point respec item when I loaded up 2.0.

No clue if it also did the same thing back in 1.0 since I thought it was useless and never looked back, didn't notice the respec stuff until 2.0.

So while we are all waiting, any tips on how to eat healthy while minimizing cooking time? Between ff14 job and gym every day I don't have a lot of time

On that note, the highest chain I saw during one of these FATEs was that one FATE in Northern Thanalan which spawns infinite mobs for 15 minutes if you don't actually kill the FATE quest mobs. I saw Chain #178 before it broke. That's such an entertaining FATE, my entire screen was full of skill effects to the point where I literally could not see players, mobs, or even the zone itself.

When this happens, I just sit back and marvel. lol

Will be keeping an eye out for FATE parties this week. T-T

Message me, I'm always doing FATEs

Hell I ask in FC, never get many responses, so I just go join randoms

Seriously give me your time and I'll get you to your desired level ASAP

I have learned almost the cycle of how they pop and which area to hover around

Tyson Oven-roasted, Diced Chicken Breast - Frozen foods section
Frozen plain Broccoli
Low sodium mushroom soup
Non-fat milk
Low-fat cheese (you pick.

Defrost the chicken and cook the broccoli a bit in the microwave. Toss it all in a casserole pan with the mushroom soup and 1/4 cup milk. Mix well. Put in oven @ 350F for ~30 mins. At 25 mins, sprinkle cheese to your liking on top.

It's good and good for you.

Dark Devices FATE is broken due to the first phase of the 4 part FATE

n5meXmQ.jpg

As you can see, it gets ridiculous, look at the XP scroll by, that's per mob, now times that by 130 at that time

One thing though after you finish Dark Devices 4 parter your Gear will be fucking wrecked!

Costs like 2k+ to repair

Dark Devices is on a 1 hour 15-30 minute recycle rate, so by the time you finish all other FATEs that keep popping and finishing you'll make the money back for the fixing of your gear lol
You'll fight Red Baron/Ahirman boss like 3+ times before Dark Devices appears again

When I was in Coerthas and Northern Thanalan doing chained FATEs, I didn't bother to repair my gear. The mob of 100+ people will melt everything anyways and it was a waste of money to repair gear that broke again 20 minutes later. I spent a LOT of time with all gear at 0% during my FATE grinds, LOL.

Why have you not been able to play? Longest it's taken me to by pass "lobby full" or "world full" has been 20 mins..
You've been lucky.

Throughout last week it's taken me maybe 40 minutes on average [earlier if not in the evening], but last night it took me around 3 hours to log on. This was of constant personal login's, no script or anything.

Yes, I was determined.

Where is that?

So, for FATE parties, what would be the reasoning on a party of two, one of which got gold and the other bronze, when they were both at the same fate for the same amount of time? Because that happened to us multiple times today.

It did change, sadly once all I did was heal even when heals weren't needed, but when I was attacking I got a percentage of what the tank did.

The matter of luck and the server you're on, at peak I wasn't able to log on for a few hours (and never did), but there were usually no queues early in the morning which I mostly played at.

I was the same before Saturday's eight hour marathon login session. It was absolutely brutal. It's a testament to the game's quality that I didn't give up after 30 mins. I haven't been this hooked by an MMORPG since Everquest released in 1999.

It's not something I care about too much during the main questline (though by all means if you see me in a FATE may as well temporarily, though it might be easier to say something in FC if playing on a controller as selecting manually will be a nightmare) but when I start leveling up other classes I'll definitely be keeping this in mind. Especially as I'm currently looking at Paladin as my Job so I'll need to build up Conjurer when I hit GLD 30.

Yeah, honestly if the game weren't much good the slightest whiff of trouble probably would've scared most people away. But many of us really do want to play it, and for long periods, and so this happens.

Are you all on Ultros? Might be a part of it. I'm on some random NA server that tells me the server time is like +7 hours from Mountain Daylight Time.

Is anybody else completely amazed at the unanimous positive response this game (a MAINLINE FF) is getting? (outside of connectivity issues)

Mainline FFs are usually so divisive, but I haven't seen many people question the quality, tone, style, etc. of this one.

I'm on Adamantoise, which is probably even more overloaded since it's at the beginning of the alphabet and the top of the list.

I have no idea, though. I haven't looked at server pops, that's just an assumption.

I hear the new Hot Pockets have better ingredients now.

Jk, I've tried them out and they're only marginally better.

I've been really surprised it hasn't had the usual MMO naysayers from GAF trolling about, particularly since there's a subscription fee. As for the Final Fantasy aspect, I'm more amazed that a dead game has basically relaunched under a slightly different title, is being sold again as a different product, and there wasn't a flurry of negativity. Usually when things flop, they don't come back. I'm glad this did though, cause it's been great so far.

Well, it might take a bit of playing to find more things to complain about (I personally have a few, but nothing major, really like the game).

Is the GAF FC the biggest on all of FFXIV? I took a look through all the FC via the Lodestone, and the second biggest one I found was 511 members.

I'm just getting started I guess. Didn't level at all yesterday, too busy trying out lancer, goldsmith, miner and going forward in the storyline (visited all the cities and stuff).

I have a lot of skipping problems that I hope will be resolved with today's maintenance, otherwise I'm pretty much screwed for any serious fighting >_>

I'm not sure if the new servers will fix the traffic issue. People will want to play the servers they're already established in or their friends are in.

I have learned almost the cycle of how they pop and which area to hover around

With the exception of this past week (which, it seemed that I could only get on with an alt no matter how many tries I did to pop on Arshe), I've usually been on when I can get on. This week is really light on work (I work PT now due to recovering from a transplant) so if I can get on, I'll be on all the damn time.

Yeah, I'm hoping there's more to it that they didn't communicate well.
I mean, 1017 is a big issue, but they never really seemed to address it. They must be aware.
*shrug* we'll see soon.
