GTA V has gone gold.

I wish the game would leak already so I can just start playing. I'm fed up with all these bullshit "release dates" just so they can gear up their marketing campaign to lasso in all the absent minded COD and FIFA subscribers that pay attention to the games industry for one month of the entire year.

I'd like to live in a world where as soon as the game is "gold" it's up on digital distribution and everyone who was paying attention to the game's development lifecycle can start playing instantly without having to wait for the physical release that involves manufacturing, shipping, exclusive retail "deals", and pre-order bonuses.

Before I get hate on for wanting the game to leak:

I don't need advertisments, previews, and reviews I was already sold on the promise of a quality game from a top-notch developer.

You know that R* doesn´t make games just for you though - right?

I´m pretty sure they expect to sell more than one copy, marketing is absolutely important.

Just wait some more.

12 days man - that´s nothing!

I'm utterly surprised at how the map has not leaked yet.

I know that it might be impossible right now for someone to have the game, but this has happened so much in the past, even a month before.

Indeed.

FIFA/Madden, CoD and GTA are the three games that people who usually only buy 1-2 games a year will be picking up. The ads are rolling out now. By mid next week I imagine there won't be anyone who travels to work by public transport or drives past a billboard or who watches TV that wont know this games is coming out very soon.

Not only that but I bet that tv commercials will be present almost every few hours starting half way next week.

Worst case scenario:

5 millions the first day
12 millions the first month

My forecast

7-8 millions the first day
16-18 millions the first month
25 millions the first year or 30 if pc/next gen versions releases in the first half

50 millions before becoming a smartphone game in 2023

Phwoar, I just felt a twitch downstairs.

So, I was talking to the manager of my local EB today at work and he mentioned that he has 600 pre-orders for this!

He said it’s bigger than any Call of Duty to date. I live in Australia by the way. Just thought I’d share what I was told.

Wow. Beast mode sales worldwide.

By the way, what is the best selling game of all time from say 1995 to now? I think this crown is due to change very soon.

My local game store is a pretty small one. They usually have between 80 and 120 preorders every year for Call of Duty. They told me today they have 380 GTA V preorders.

I think it's something Nintendo? I mean in the long run they tend to do extremely well (like Wii Sports).
In a shorter burst it's definitely a CoD, probably Black Ops 2.

I actually heard something similar at the GameStop I preordered at here in San Francisco. Said they have more GTA V pre-orders than any other game in recent memory, including CoD Ghosts.

Black Ops 2 is the current record holder for day one says at 7.5 million. GTA IV sold 3.6M back in 2008 when the combined user base of the PS3 and XBox 360 was a bit over a quarter of what it is now. I'll be a bit surprised if it didn't break the 7.5M day one.

Is there any way to upload music onto my PS3 or XBox 360 in order to import music onto GTAV the way you could in San Andreas on the regular XBox?

Haven't had any information on that yet but given the use of the phone and the shot with Michael wearing ear buds I imagine there's going to be some sort of custom soundtrack option. There's really not much excuse not to this time around.

They will not do the numbers like that, they will do it like last time.

headline:

GTA V made $500 Million in 24 hours, and hundred thousand gamers lineup at midnight across the globe for the newest installment of the GTA series.

GTA IV sold 3.6 million copies the first 24 hours in a console cycle that started 2 years before that game got released.

Black Ops 2 sold more than 7.5 million ($500 million) in 24 hours last year when the console cycle was in its prime.

I'd take a bet and say that GTA V will sell the same amount of copies like Black Ops 2 did but on oné less platform; the PC.

All 360 games support custom soundtracks on the OS level; just start playing music from the guide button, and it'll play whenever you aren't watching a pre-rendered cutscene.

On PS3, it has to be specifically implemented by the game's developers. There's no reason why Rockstar wouldn't have allowed it. I'm sure they'll have an "independent fm" that plays tracks from your PS3's hard drive or something.

I don't want it to leak. I won't be able to control myself in watching footage and then the game won't be as new. In glad the map hasn't leaked. Getting the digital version of the game is my to go option because I want to pause the game and look at the map for the first in game.

If the modding community is anything to go by, this could could have done very well on the PC too ( I mean for 24 hour sales)

17th... any day now.

The map hasn't leak but we know pretty much everything about it (shape, locations) and fanmaps are really accurate. There won't be any big surprise.

I too would prefer for the map not to be leaked.

I want to receive the game and then go to the bathroom to take a shit and while doing so I want to look at the packed in map they offer to see it for the first time.

Will be glorious.

Don't accidently wipe your arse with it though. If I had a quid for everytime I---

I also don't want a leak - I have my leave booked at a specific time - the ONLY thing I'd change is me not having to leave work on Monday night at 6pm and fucking play with myself until midnight before picking it up. Then I gotta take it home (10 minutes) install it on my PS3 (30 minutes) patch it (5 minutes) boot it, watch the intro before I actually play it.

I reckon 1:30am before I play it - and I'm an old man now, GTA4 I took time off for, did the midnight thing, I was eager as FUCKKKKKKKKKKK to play it but I crashed out by 4am.

Would love like crazy for store date to be broken Monday - just pick it up in the city after work and play it when I get home :/ doubt it'll happen.
