Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Novocaine lives in Australia where we have higher prices for Videogames. With that said though the Vita version seems to be $50 in retail here ($52 digitally because logic) which isn't too bad a markup compared to the US version.

The digital tax really shits me. Sony is the only place I know that charges more for digital.

Oh okay.

Although I do not get why if you are australian, you would like to subject youself to Australian prices. You can buy US PSN credits online with no additional charge, and the system is region free. Seems to me the price markup on games is not worth it.

I already had an AU account from the PSP Go and didn't really think to create a new one. Now I have too many games tied to this account that moving over would be a hassle, plus I'm also lazy and can't be bothered managing 2 accounts. We get awesome PS+ deals every month though so that sort of makes up for it.

The Rayman demo is so good.
Is the core game of Rayman worth it?
How many total levels?

I came to realize that invasion levels aren't that big of a deal to me. I don't care that it's easier than Origins. I'm at the point where I'd rather not be frustrated by videogames, just looking for a good time.

Finally get Disgaea 3 for around 27 bucks... Much better price than 39.99 (wtf)

Btw, I need to buy a better camera...

Where did you buy it? A local store have it discounted?

There is EU Japanese games sale right now. I have interest in some games (Ys series, Corpse Party games) but can GAF guide me to some awesome game? Link here

Still debating. I have like 230 euros in my bank account. But the FCE (English exam) cost 180 and I'm going to do the exam in December. And I would probably need some money for printing / buying books once classes start... damn journalism, why i have to read so much? xD

PD: Buy Tales of Graces if you want an awesome combat design and can bear characters fairly less awful than Star Ocean IV (2 awful characters, 3 meh characters, 1 awesome character, meh story, but aweeeeesome gameplay. Voice acting is miles better than SO). Is PS3, but combat system is god tier IMO.

If the player possesses a Atelier Totori Plus save data, they can unlock a special dress, accessory, and obtain the strongest weapon for Totori at the start of the game.

I wonder if it is smart enough to look for the save on the PS+ cloud. Because I deleted the game to make space and I don't fancy reinstalling the 3GB+ game just to get the bonus. I bet you do have to though.

I'll have to try them.

When going back and trying to do everything in the levels... what are the criteria. It looks like there's 3 marks (smiley face things?) in most levels for opening the cages, one for time, and another 2-3 for collecting other animal things along the way? Sorry, I don't yet know what everything is called.

Can I mix and match in each run... for example, do it really quick to just get the time one... does it stack or do you need to do it all at once?
They can all be done separately from what I remember (and the speed-one has to be, as it only unlocks after going through the levels once)

Vita Mega Pack Bundle is 169,00€ at amazon.de

Sell the included "Mega Pack 1" for like 30€ and get the memory card you want (16GB 35€) if 8GB are not enough.

Corpse Party so tempted!

Kenny, you've gone a pleasant shade of VITA MAD. Fastest growing library around here, by the sounds of things.

You couldn't rustle up single-handed a Vita port of SEGA Rally Revo, could you? I loved the Bugbear port on PSP, but I think we need the bigger brother.

A man can dream.

Hmm any idea why the Killzone Merc is not on PSN in my region anymore? The preorder was there and it counted down towards yesterday ... now there's nothing.

I sold my Vita a while back when I needed some cash, but a combination of new job + Killzone made me dive back in today and buy a new one.

The bubbles have anti-aliasing now. My god. I wasn't prepared.

jesus - just read reviews on KZ:m

why the fuck are they comparing it to home console shooters.

some of the points they make are SO ridiculous it's absurd. based off the MP closed beta alone I know it's better than a 55.

where the hell do reviewers get the idea to shit on vita so much? - does it bring in more traffic if they rate it lower?

edit: cleaned up some writing errors

This is a real shame for the game. I know it will definitely turn some people off of it.

On the flip side, I enjoyed the beta, though, since I'm not the biggest KZ fan I was passing on it till later. But now? I find myself urging to play it for some reason....I want that SP action...I want that MP mayhem...and dem graphix....all with me everywhere I am.

This here is why we have an influx of new Vita owners!

Ohhh. Right, I thought the speed runs were a separate mode, but you just go back into the level and try and do it quickly?
Yeah, you begin a level and I think there's a floating clock right at the beginning of the level that you need to pick up and then make your way till the end as fast as possible.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I missed a tutorial or something, but I found a lot of this stuff isn't really explained that well... you're my tutorial!

That's it?! I thought you had to get all the..uh...little yellow guys I can't remember the proper name for because I'm new to the series...but all of the them needed for the medal WHILE getting that speedy time -_-

That makes so much sense, and I don 't even know where I got my crazy old ideas in the first place...

Man, I really like Rayman Legends for the most part so far but I wish it didn't have to turn into an iPhone game every other level.

I finally made my way through hell in Spelunky! Now my next goal is to make it with over 1 million
One day I shall make the journey as well. Care to share a few tips? Or really, answer my questions?

Did you do it all in one go, or do the individual levels? Did you do each location a bunch to "get the feels"?

Everytime I start off GREAT, I usually die some ridiculous death that comes almost out of nowhere. Or I run into something, which I see and know I'm an idiot for doing, but the recoil sends me flying into the welcome embrace of spikes hugging my bones.

All right, I have never played any of the Ys games, which one do you guys recommend from the sale?

Seven by virtue of having the same battle system that Celceta will have (party members instead of weapons).

However, I really recommend checking out Felghana.

Always one-go. There are items specifically in the first two worlds that are crucial to a good run, I think
eye in caves, ankh from black market in jungle

Sacrifice pits were a part of this particular run as well as the jet pack. I have made it to hell with a cape, but obviously the jetpack reigns supreme in this game. Getting the chalice and taking advantage of every blood droplet gets insane. I also had the 8 heart bonus on this run from getting Kali up to 32 points.

When I get to the Temple and if I have bombs, when in doubt, just blow it up. I followed this rationale in hell to the letter and made it extremely easy this time.

I have some nice tricks for taking out the shopkeepers in the black market. As I mentioned previously, I also learned how to take out a shop keeper with a whip and losing only 1 heart if he isn't angry previously.

Unless I'm going for score, I'll just buy from the shopkeeper unless he has a store full of bombs or the jetpack I can't afford. If he has a store like I mentioned, he's dead.

From a guy in my Vita club :)

If you haven't played it already, I cannot recommend it enough.

Looks like you took it with a Vita tbh.

I took it with my old-as-fuck Blackberry... I need to upgrade my phone one of these days.......

He clearly used his second Vita, to take picture of his Vita, so that a Vita never leaves his hands. A true Vitahero.

My 1st Vita got a busted battery :( This is my 2nd one.

It's really frustrating, and I feel like it only happens to the Vita. Super Mario 3D Land is a console-type game, and you don't see that compared to Mario Galaxy or something, where its clearly a big step down. I just wish Vita games could be reviewed based on their own merits, and not on their merits in respect to how close it gets to a console game.

im playing seven right now..completed maybe 10 hours or more, needed some time to get used to the new system (and im ok with it now) but still prefer oath of felgana/origin :(
didnt like also the new direction they took the series to, the simplicity was one of the main reason that made this series attractive & unique for me..now its similar to alot of other JRPG's :/
however challenging boss fights & the ost still strong as always !

Heehhehhehhee, no, collecting those yellow dudes is not necessary at all during the speedruns. :D Some (all?) of those speedruns would be completely, ridiculously impossible if that was the case. :S

Damn, there is a Vita club at your place? O_o

Yeah, though only around 20 to 25 people, tops. Sometimes we gather together to play stuff like Soul Sacrifice, Dynasty Warrior, and the latest is Dragon's Crown--although for the latter that stupid update problem forbid some of us to play together :\

Hopefully Killzone Mercenary is not gonna be crippled with the same issue.

We also have a 3DS community here, maybe for around... 30-40 people. Usually playing stuff like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart 7, and *especially* Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I am a member too. Sometimes the Vita and 3DS players come together as well, for one big handheld party :)

Meanwhile I'm here, sitting and playing alone with my Vita in a small, dimly lighted room :(

Ironic in that this week Vita owners are complaining that Rayman isn't exactly the same as the console version.

Not having a go or anything but it works both ways. Obviously the Rayman issue is lack of time or something but still.

We are not complaining that Rayman isn't exactly the same as the console version. We are complaining that Ubisoft said it would be exactly the same single player content as the console version and it's not. Nobody complain by exemple there are not the same online possibilities than the console version because it was clear since day 1.

Thank you Vitamuffins, I shall put your advice to good use.

I didn't realise Ubi had lied over that fact.
That's very dishonest of them.

It's still ironic though.

How is the frame rate on KZM? I haven't seen anything mentioned on that.
