Just to throw in a funny anecdote: on Monday the line to demo Project DIVA F was far, far longer than the line to demo Bayonetta 2. It was a madhouse.
PSO2 is apparently still on according to the Sega rep I talked to, but no one there was from that particular team.

Is this because Dead Souls did so poorly in the West? Are they looking at its poor numbers and thinking we don't want a Yakuza game? I don't know about anyone else but the reason I passed on it was because it wasn't a traditional Yakuza game. If they released Y5 I'd pre-order the shit out of it in an instant.

Even big Yakuza fans skipped that one. That's what kills me about it. The series doesn't even get to go out on a high note.
(I know this doesn't mean the series ends, but, for me, it does)
Project Diva localisation looks like it'd take 1/100th of the time and resources it'd take to localise Yakuza 5.

I'm saying don't bother. Fans will play it (some would even prefer it) with original voices with subtitles.

Probably one of the hardest to localize due Yakuza filled with slang and dialect, I understand Sega's reluctancy to release it.
Just learn Japanese. Maybe if diligent I should be able to play Japanese games in 3 years

Nope, I'm implying that the fans are not enough to make this worth bringing over. Sega is a business, they want to make money, Yakuza obviously doesn't make enough money to cover the costs it takes to localize and produce it over seas.
Thus, hating on Sega is silly when they just don't want to lose money.
It sucks for the fans, but it's the nature of business.
