Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

lol thanks. I'm an avid fan

Everyone knows about the ghost after 2:30 I assume.

Ghost number 2 is from picking up the crystal skull from the "dead are rising" in the jungle

The 3rd is from pissing off Kali a ton, past the point of spiders. You need to get her so low that she puts a ball and chain on your foot, and then past that, a ghost that permanently follows you even at the start of a new level.

I'll try to get a picture of it. If I can get all of them posing as girls with the camera it would be brilliant

Wait what?! I've seen the first ghost - but I assumed it was because I was taking ages to do the level.

Most people have seen the first ghost. I was just showing how you could get 3 to spawn on the same level. I would imagine that after running for a minute or so they'd be on top of each other, but interesting none the less

But it's on sale on EU PSN?

Yeah, only played it like three or four times. Not really fun, unless you're playing with a friend, but that only makes it slightly more enjoyable. Game just feels too empty, boring, and like a chore. Combat isn't too bad, but it gets uninteresting fairly quick. Soul Sacrifice is so much better.

holy fuck shit. how did walking dead pass any sort of certification?

It's like playing a scratched up psx game anytime you have to do something QTE. that 'stealth' sequence in first chapter was heinous.

I don't even recall the ios version being this bad.
It was bad even on consoles and PC. The game is just coded like that.

Hell no.

a video from one of the big video games sites not full of Vita hate and false info. what is going on?

No it just spouted a bunch of bullshit about the PSP instead.

Also the guy basically admitted he used to hate on the Vita before he actually played it. Story of the Vita. Everyone loves to make fun of it and hate on it. Then when they actually play one they love it.

saw this post on the psn blog comments

Preparing to download…
Please wait.
4 months and this issue still isnt fixed. A pretty major issue too, if you ask me.
I just love forcing my Vita to power off because attempting to download anything effectively softlocks the system.

Thanks for the note on this, the teams are definitely aware that this issue hits some PS Vita users; and we’re looking to get a solution implemented as soon as is possible for the teams. However, I don’t have any timeframe to share at this time. Thank you for your patience and apologies for any inconvenience encountering this may cause.

no REAL news.... but at least we know they are aware and working on it....because i had no clue they knew.

finally it's been acknowledged to the public.

Woah! Just saw that New little King's Story and Urban Trails is PS+ freebies for this month! 2 games that I didn't already buy, plus they both seem enjoyable. Nice!

I also just purchased Corpse Party. The EU "Big in Japan" sale is pretty good.

damn you EU!!!! always getting the better sales.

Gamespot determines whether people should buy a Vita or not.

Yes, if they have hands.

The video was nice. But don't bother to read the commentaries. As always, a shitstorm. Lots of gamers really are worse than 5 years old kids.

But it's on sale on EU PSN?

Just wait. Ragnarok Odyssey is going to get and upgrade called ACE. Just wait and bought the updated version then. Just buy Ys, Corpse Party if you don't care playing RPG maker games (at least og game was great), Rayman or Mercenaries.

Damn Sony. They just put a sale when i'm broken.

KZ is our Wonderful 101

I wouldn't sweat it

No. Our Wonderful 101 is Tearaway. Although I would love seeing it selling a bazillion of copies, it's the kind of game that will probably not pass the 500k mark. And i'm being positive.

Toto may be happy, at least.

unfair comparison.

- There was no Helghast mask avatars campaign.
- No one think KZM is the Vita savoir (Shahid's non indie non port secret game is)
- Cambridge guys already work for Sony while Kamiya want to work for Nintendo.

Ubi has been good to the vita since day one, i gladly purchased it yesterday hoping they would release that as
paid
DLC

They don't just abandon a platform when one game don't sell well, I give them that.

However, giving PS4 and PS3 owners Aveline missions in AC4 instead of making a AC3:L DLC missions for Vita owners was a slap in the face for people who supported Ubi and bought AC3:L.

I'd be happy if Tearaway sold well (I just don't like the graphics and art style, I don't hate the game or anything)

Corrosive, looks like the Vita version of Rayman Legends is still not at content parity, even WITH the upcoming patch. :(

...

It has MORE content. (five exclusive Murfy challenges.)

I post that here for the ones who didn't follow the specific topic, Ubisoft's answer about Rayman Legends:

Thanks so much for you passion about this game. I'm currently playing the Vita version and loving it. That said, I know some of you have questions about the Vita version, so here's what's going on: Due to a longer development time than expected, we couldn’t initially include the Invasion Mode – essentially, a second take on existing Rayman Legends maps -- in the Vita version of the game. However, we can confirm that the Invasion Mode will be added via a free patch, at a later date. With more than 100 levels, online Coop and challenges, Kung-Foot mini-game, 5 exclusive touch challenges developed specifically for the VITA and 2 exclusive costumes, Rayman Legends already includes a lot for customers to love, and features the same outstanding graphics and gameplay design as the home console versions.

People keep saying to buy Meruru WITHOUT giving any answers to questions we've been asking....

If you want more of us to purchase and support said game, give impressions and answers about said game. It looks like a game I might like, even though I've never played anything from that series.

How are the textures/effects/graphics? Is it native resolution? Aliasing? Frame rate?

How is the sound design? Basic story premise?

If Meruru supporters would talk about the game, there might be more customers ^_^

How kind of you to ask!

It should be said, in all reality, the Atelier series is one that fits a particular niche, a niche many are unaware they are a part of.

I've described the series as being a violent stepchild of Persona 4 and Spice and Wolf (an anime about commerce...effectively). Its a JRPG that revolves around character interaction, crating (alchemy), and combat. This is a game that leans heavily on narrative progression and crafting, fulfilling deadlines for various characters whilst making choices about what to do with your time.

As for the story premise, sound design etc I'd recommend this review from RPGFan! http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Atelier_Meruru_The_Apprentice_of_Arland/

Now to be fair, the art style is decidedly Japanese, more to the point decidedly anime. It doesn't get into UGUUU MOE territory but it is clearly within the field of "anime".

At the end of the day the Atelier series breathes a rejuvenating wind into the JRPG genre for the Vita, one that for someone who remembers the JRPG glory days of the PS2, welcome gladly!

Yay commas!

What's the chance the Japan game sale in EU will rotate games in and out? I'm kind of hoping to see some Patapon there, I'd love to play it again.

I've begun playing and I LOVE the game so far. It's got a ton of charm, very vibrant and looks stunning on the Vita. So crisp!

My fears were for naught...

Now, if only I understood the time/days, crafting system I'd be off to a good (better) start.

Thank you for recommending this game! It'd have slid past my radar and I'm happy to have picked I up (digitally, lol). I've not had a ton of JRPG experience, even though I grew up with NES in the early 80's and gaming beyond -> current. It's a genre I recently got into beginning this gen and I'm happy I did.

Meruru is shaping up nicely. Just dim the music volume first, as it drowns out the other sounds (voice and fx).

if anyone hasnt listened to it - the giantbomb guys share some impressions on hohokam, txk, dragon fantasy book 2, and luftrausers around 18 minutes in.

general impressions:

hohokam - sounds like they were pretty lost in the game since there are no instructions and they didn't seem excited for the trial and error game play...

luftrausers - they said was fun and the definitive vers is vita/dpad over pc/keyboard

txk - said its pretty awesome. super challenging.

dragon fantasy book 2 - " looks and plays a lot like a snes rpg game"

I'm hoping that they're working on a new Patapon. Love that game, would love to see it native on the Vita.

Especially after seeing the Patapon appear in PSASBR. Looked so great. Wonder if they'all go 2D or 3D for the graphics. Either is fine by me, as long as the gameplay and 2D plane remain.

So glad that the Invasion mode stuff got sorted out, and the Vita version will go back to being the definitive version for anybody not interested in playing co-op.

Ok, okay, now you win.
Free patch is good, providing they actually follow through.
When the patch goes live, I'll buy the game -- the only way they could make it better now is if they gave you the option for how to play the Murfy levels (ala PC/PS3/360 or ala WiiU/Vita).

Does anyone know if the save file for the Jak and Daxter trilogy is transferable to the individual games?

I have the trilogy currently installed but I noticed you can install each part separately, i.e. Precusor Legacy, Jak II and Jak 3. I want to delete the whole trilogy and only install the game I'm currently playing, will the save game work?

I also just purchased Corpse Party. The EU "Big in Japan" sale is pretty good.

A clone in the dark and Jak and Daxter trilogy are also cross-buy so that 6 games for the PS vita this month :)

Just changed my mind on buying Rayman day 1, and it has nothing to do with the upcoming patch. Rather, it's that the game is one of the few that doesn't limit screen brightness to 80%, and as such should be rewarded.

You win, Ubisoft <3

Maybe day 2 depending on how this demo progresses

VERY impressed with one of the middle missions on KillZone - can't spoiler tag on my phone, but I think it's in smaller scale skirmishes that killZone excels, not fake one where you're in a huge war but happen to only see a few people.

Merc manages to give context to some, not all, of it's smaller encounters. Good stuff Cambridge.
