Logged in no problem this time of the day. Soon as I selected my character, it went to queue which was 5 people and within a minute I was in. Hopefully SE continues to fix any issues quickly so more people can play.

My dude looks like he is in to some kinky shit, such a weird mish mash of gear at the moment.

Really enjoying the game. Bit by bit I'm overcoming my issues and figuring out the different systems and having a grand ole time.

Everyone who uses a controller, do yourself a favor and do this.

System -> Character Configuration -> Control Settings at the bottom

Gives you a lot more control over the camera while moving.

Ya, this game fucking kicks ass, now that I can actually get in.

Come on guys, learn to embrace the Harness and Subligar sets!

Maybe all you need is a new dye and it goes from odd to perfect, just like that. ;)

Shard don't automatically drop a ton like they did in 1.0 so their value is a bit higher now. you can make some good money off wind shards because they're one of the most used types in this.

I noticed that. Where do they drop now? I have 3-4k of each from 1.0

What does that do? I tried it out and didn't notice a change.

Do you not get bonus attribute points every level up after level 10? I'm level 16 and realized I hadn't used any after the initial 3 at level 10, figured I should have a good amount to distribute. Go in the menu, only find 3 points still.

Hope that's how it's supposed to be and not that I got fucked out of points by not using them immediately.

You get 30 points and the first 5 in level 10, so between some levels you don't get points. Basically every 2 levels or so.

Where would people consider current "end-game" to start? I'm wondering at which instanced story quest I should start just asking GAF FC members to party with me so they'll be understanding that:

A) It's my first time
B) I'll want to watch the cutscenes

I haven't had issues with it so far up to story Ifrit, but I'm sure at some point the chances of running into people that are dicks to first timers will increase.

On one story mission of you watch the cut scene it's a guaranteed wipe

There's a gate right outside of Scorpion Crossing that says "This gate to remain closed..."

Yeah, "... until an expansion pack.".

How does the subscription fee work on PS3 exactly? Does it take $15 a month out of your PSN wallet or the credit card that it is linked to? This game looks amazing but I don't know if I have the money to deal with a fee like that.

And OF COURSE, digital river screwed up my Before Meteor OST order.

I just received a shipping confirmation to my e-mail, referring to another item being shipped to an address in BC (I live in Quebec).

Nice job, digital river.

Makes me wonder why people still order from any site that uses digital river -__-

Roughly how many gameplay hours?

No idea honestly (between BP4, early access and all the clusterfuck of the first days), but i took the first 1-45 really slow

then i did 45-50 in about two days of heavy Fate grinding in north Thanalan

Capping isn't that slow, if you want to rush there are ways to do that

Probably should have asked these yesterday when no one was able to play and was just chilling out in thread but here goes:

- Where are people generally starting to jump into parties with people? Is there a particular point where this gets explained or opens up, or are you guys doing this from the get go? I'm a level 16 archer and just got access to the second of the main cities, and haven't really done much of anything online yet. I haven't tried a guildhest yet, is that kind of the online tutorial / starting point?

- Is there a general etiquette in term of me seeing some guy attacking an enemy out in the field, and jumping in to help? I'm pretty sure I can't steal his experience if he's hit the enemy first, curious if there's an expectation that I should stop and help out or just always ignore them and go about my business.

- I'm starting to see equipment with materia slots but not sure what to do with those, is this explained at some point (I may have left active help off by accident) or am I still a ways from utilizing this? I suspect it's a craft of some sort?

First MMO and all so not really sure the best approach to enjoying the game to it's fullest, cheers guys (and gals)!

I only party up when it is required for story quests. You should be doing your first dungeon soon.

If you do enough damage on an enemy, even if he as already initiated the confrontation with the enemy first, you can still get XP, and credit if it is part of a quest. It does not take anything away from the person attacking, so feel free to help if you think some guy might die to an enemy.

During the story quest you will get to a place about equipping materia. Then, once you get a crafter I believe, to level 19, you can get a quest from that place that teaches you how to attach materia. Attaching materia isn't really a big deal though in early gear.

1) Generally around 15 (or when you first do an instanced party dungeon) is good for party play. It's given you time to get a general feel for your starting class. Guildhests are ok, but are much shorter than dungeons and can be derped through much easier, so they don't provide much learning opportunity.

2) Unless someone is about to die, you can pretty much ignore their fight. Afterwards, and this is just my personal preference, if you are much stronger than someone or in a group, leave their prey be. Even if they get the first hit, if too much of the damage goes to someone else, they get no xp. Because of the crowding and needing to kill enemies for story/sidequests, this often gets ignored however.

3) You can turn items that have been used to a certain degree into materia by doing a sidequest at level 20, and can bind the materia to items by doing another sidequest once one of your crafting jobs hits level 20. It's good for boosting armor stats.

Ugh, get home from work and was hopeful I'd get in with all the positivity in this thread.

Nope, 1017 is back at peak hour.

The culprit is probably Ultros high population.

That sucks. Sitting in traffic now, was thinking I'd actually be able to just walk in and log on by the sound of the thread. Ah well :[

I'm on Sargatanas. I heard mention that the GAF linkshell was full. Did they mean the FC is full, or is the linkshell itself actually full?
