is it ever confirmed that metroid prime is actually a metroid?
When was it not? I don't give a shit about Sakamoto's feelings to put it bluntly.

dont know what your talking about but metroid prime was this kinda crab monster that was also like pure phazon and given the name metroid prime, and when it's 1st form was defeated it turned into a semi-mother brain, or atleast thats how I remember it.
OHHHH, lol, I totally misunderstood the context. I thought you were asking whether Metroid Prime was considered a Metroid game.
Evil versions of characters kinda bore me.
But I guess I wouldn't complain too much.
lol yes, just a FYI sakumoto never said the prime games werent cannon, that was a mistranslation
is it ever confirmed that metroid prime is actually a metroid?
cause thats who dark samus is, or atleast genetically
Well now I feel like a jackass to a guy who created some of my favourite games. I despised that he said that about Metroid Prime, not even Other M really soured me on him as much as what he said did (since I blame Team Ninja too on that).
But to answer your original question, yes, it is a Metroid.
haha thanks for the answersWell, if this is a Metroid Queen

I'm not sure why Metroid Prime can't be a Metroid.

No. There is a similar looking military guy, but they aren't intended to be the same character.wasn't there a general or something in Other M that was in Prime 3? I vaguely remember that happening.
metroid prime series were suppose to take place in between metroid 1 and metroid 2, but I think hunters and prime 3 takes place afterwards which really screws with the cannon now
Can you explain why its screwy? No, all of the Prime games take place in between Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid II, which is an undefined length of time. The Metroid timeline is:
Metroid/Metroid Zero Mission -> Metroid Prime -> Metroid Prime Hunters -> Metroid Prime 2: Echoes -> Metroid Prime 3: Corruption -> Metroid II: Return of Samus -> Super Metroid -> Metroid Other M -> Metroid Fusion
That said, Prime 3 is a screwy game canonically that does not mesh particularly well with anything in the established lore.
It throws a lot of unnecessary wrinkles into a timeline that was previously very simple. Can you explain why its screwy?
Because its interesting and I want to know more about the Metroid series.
Haven't played a few of the other Metroid games but I'm alright with spoilers.
Does anybody else want Neku on the roster? I used to hear a lot more about him before, but now it seems people just want Shulk and Ridley.
Metroid is trying to copy Zelda's bumbled chronological mess.
I'd be all for me. He's my most wanted Mario rep and is my 2nd most wanted third-party character (only one who topped that is Mega Man, who's already in). Unfortunately, his chances are absolutely horrible. Is there a single person here who seriously wants Geno for Smash?
Depends on what you're asking. If Ridley is not playable, but Dark Samus is, would anybody be upset as long as she isn't a clone of Samus?
Thanks for the explanationIt throws a lot of unnecessary wrinkles into a timeline that was previously very simple
*snip*
Prime 3 in many ways feels like it was written solely to be a conclusion to the Prime series (which I still felt it was off on that mark as well), with no regard to the greater Metroid lore or canon.

If Dark Samus does prove to be an exciting character that separates herself from Samus, then I'm all for her. More unique characters are always welcomed as long as they're done right. However, it would not make up for Ridley's absence (although I'm speaking more for the community than for myself). I see Sakurai excluding Ridley as a big mistake and not something Sakurai can justify with either a crap reasoning or "I didn't want Ridley in".
What Sakamoto said was:No. There is a similar looking military guy, but they aren't intended to be the same character.
The only references Other M makes to the Prime games aren't story related (the generalized behind the visor FPS view is clearly inspired by it, the Charge Beam uses the same sound effect, and the Seeker Missiles are a purely Prime invention). That said, the "Sakamoto said the Prime games weren't canon" is overblown BS. He said that Prime is a separate story from the story Other M is telling, which is both correct to what he was saying and says nothing of the Prime games' canonical quality.
Yes, Other M does contradict the Prime games in a few points, but it contradicts Super Metroid at a few points as well, and, honestly, the Prime games are inconsistent with both the main Metroid series and their selves even. This is hardly a point worth noting; Metroid canon is a mess.
Size isn't the issue here. Heck, we've already gotten a picture showing comparison between Olimar and Kirby and Olimar was taller than Kirby in Smash 3DS and Wii U.he cant just throw ridley in just because people ask for it, thats not how it works, he has to come up with a good moveset and balance him to fit with all the other characters, and size could very well play a part in that
You heard straight from the man himself. Third-party additions are in some ways, more difficult than making the game itself. Any viable first/second-party characters is bound to be an easier addition than third-parties and this does include Ridley. I am not saying he wouldn't be difficult, but if we can get Mega Man in despite his addition supposedly being "harder than making the game", then Ridley can clearly fit in.Sakurai said:Adding characters from other series and from other worlds, really, outside the Nintendo universe, is an incredibly difficult process. In some ways it's more difficult from just building a game from the ground up because you're really trying to make everything match and in some ways that creates limitations. I hope that people can understand that's the reason we can't include more characters from outside the Nintendo universe. And, of course, I believe that when you increase the number of worlds, you're also increasing the number of people who could potentially enjoy that videogame and the series that you're putting in there. But there are also problems because having these non-traditional characters in there -- even with just Snake and Sonic -- has resulted in a number of people who do dissent in seeing these characters put into the Smash series. It's not a simple matter of adding as many worlds and characters from other games as possible -- you can't be careless in doing that sort of thing, you have to be careful. Internally and externally, there have been people who have raised objections to it.
Calm before the storm.
Expect the entire roster to be revealed next week.
Not really a fan of this idea. I like Final Smash because it shows that the biggest card they have to play doesn't have to just be a transformation. Sure some are lame (I hate DK's Final Smash), but we have seen some truly great and unique Final Smashes from characters and I'd like to see them crafted in their own way. That and everything being transformation reminds me a bit too much of Dragon Ball Z.They're gonna reveal Mega Evolutions for all the Smash Brothers.
Mega Mario, Mega Link, Mega Donkey Kong, Mega Wii Fit Trainer...alright, that last one doesn't really work well, but you get it.
Truth be told, I kind of wish they'd abandon the cinematic/awkward Final Smashes and do a Wario-Man/Giga Bowser transformation for everyone.
I'll be really surprised at this point if anyone from Pokémon gets cut at this point. I am sure that the Pokémon Company will at least want to see Brawl + Mewtwo on the roster and will push for it. I also think Sakurai will want them all back as well.Between Lucario and Mewtwo getting mega forms, Jigglypuff being a representative of a brand new type, and now the confirmation of the R/B starters returning (and getting Mega evolutions), it seems like the existing Smash Pokemon are all becoming incredibly relevant in X and Y.

I have a feeling Pokémon Trainer might be announced today! The amount of hype I consistently have for these daily pictures are pathetic![]()
