this game is still not available for download or purchase anywhere that i've checked. that's every ebgames, walmart, bestbuy and futureshop in the city + amazon and SE themselves. i guess it's good since I wouldn't be able to play anyways but it'd be nice to preload it at least.

I tried getting on Ultros like half of my morning. No dice. I'll just have to make another person later or something, or maybe move this character I have if character moves aren't a rip off like WoW's.

Thanks, I'm glad, cause I'm just doing hunting quests now. I'm almost to level 10 as a gladiator just doing those. Got my ass kicked on a couple fates though. Sure could use a better weapon than this gladius.

I recommend checking out the marketboard in your city for gear when you hit level 10. You'll probably find weapons and clothes for much cheaper than you will in any vendor - that way, when choosing your quest rewards, you can just go for the gil reward.

Marketboard? Have no idea what that is. Yep, noob is me.

Which starting city are you in?
Whichever it is, there'll be a strip with loads of vendors all clustered together, the marketplace board is there, it's where other players put stuff to sell. A lot of it goes for rock bottom prices, and you can buy HQ items there too (additional attributes)

Even though I played 1.0 for a few months after release, I feel like a complete newbie in this version of the game. I do have about 400k gil from my 1.0 character that I have no idea what to do with. My character has Pugilist 28, and a few crafts at 25+ but I am starting up from Gladiator 1 and my plan is to main Paladin. Any veterans have any suggestions on where I should invest my gil?

It's a gigantic pin-up board in the streets of the main city that acts as the Auction House, I guess.

Oh, haha, doubt 600 or so gil will get much of anything. I did buy a few armor pieces, like a red coif with horns, and a wood shield.

The hell? Is it me or has the game been taking up more memory than it did prior to this update?

Might be cause the servers cleared up but the game seems to be running a lot smoother on the PS3. Having far less FPS issues, though I have yet to go FATE farming since the maintenance update.

I have an opinion that isn't popular. Time to leave this drone pod.

Having an opinion is fine when you back it up with substantial reasons. You can also have an opinion without insulting other people. Try it sometime, it may actually get you better responses.

Dat feel when your tank is tanking, your healer is healing, and you and the other DPS guy are DPS-ing HARD. And you reach a boss and DAT DUNGEON BOSS theme kicks in. And you are in the zone. This game, guys. THIS GAME!

Haha this^ That's why I like the dungeon mechanics so much. Once your party gets into a groove, its like those awesome FFXI exp parties. It's a shame that FATEs are overwhelmingly faster for leveling.

Same here man. I've tried like 5 times, and still 10102. Hope I'm not boned.

sucks that we cant even undo it to go level or something D:

scratch that! im in!

.... back to square one. i tried to do that gc quest again and slammed with error again. guess il log in and do other stuff while this get fix... i wanted my chocobo mount so i can farm fate easier :/

Waah server I want to play on with my friends isn't accepting new characters.

Is there any ETA for when that may be lifting on certain servers?

Honestly? No, not really, need to wait til you get a retainer so you can sell stuff.

dunno about that... at that level you can still start up crafting - which can get you a decent amount of money through leves at that point in the game.

Marketboard is your friend though. Saving money is just as important as making money.

I just danced like an idiot to an AI character. I feel so dumb. Anyway I am Level 23, almost 24... I am still a few levels above the story quests. :P!

But investing in crafting means spending a lot of gil, and without a retainer, you can't sell anything, so you're just going to be bleeding money (trust me, I have 3 crafts at level 20, I've been pretty much broke the whole time lol)
I'm close to the retainer quest, so I think my fortunes will reverse soon enough!

How much are we talking from region to region?

Aleport to Gridania was about 650 gil, ridiculous o.o

You don't need the retainer at all.

The tradecraft levequests pretty much bathe you in money once you can turn out high quality items. It is a costly start up, yes, but just getting to the levequest part opens up 'free money' options.

And because of how the market gets flooded at times, its still WAY more profitable to just sell high quality items through levequests.

You'll get pugilist specific guild quests, and specific hunting log marks.
Oh, and remember to be eating food when you're fighting mobs, you get an exp bonus!

Ok, last question for the night. :P Can you use skills from gladiator when in pugalist form? Or is there a fast switch to allow you to switch jobs fast like? Or do you have to equip everything over if you want to play a certain job? Sorry, never played FF 11.

I got D/C while using duty finder, now I can no longer log in, error 10102.

Some of the skills are cross class. If they are, they'll tell you for which class in the Ability window. There are also equipment sets that you can use to automatically flip your class by swapping out all of your gear.

Maybe it works for leveling up one craft then, but juggling three crafts and one gathering class, there wasn't enough leve allowances to really benefit monetary wise. The money I got from those went back into ingredients/gear for each craft. The HQ leves give a shit load of exp though, that's true.

There are some skills that work cross-class, but only specific ones, at level 10 you might have unlocked one so far, go to your actions/trait tab and look under 'additional' to see if you've any to add to your hotbar.

For class switching, go to your character screen and click the little gear icon above your character to save a gear set, then when you equip the other class equipment, again, save it as a new set, this allows you to switch quickly between them. Remember to click the little arrow icon on the top right corner when you get better gear for your equipped class, it'll 'update' the saved gear set.
