It's required. You can't select the same name once you use it.

Compared to that I had pretty decent groups so far.
Needs a group kick vote and a report feature (same for gold seller tells..)

It's kinda funny. I am going to have an interview about game devs being bullied by fans but this whole issue is somewhat linked. It's a general issue with a lot of the younger gamers not having any kind of respect for others over the internet. No actions against them for being total shit heads coupled with a lot of adrenaline, the need to get attention and competitive behaviour. Evil mix.
One of the worst by far that's why you need to find a good group and stay there. It is easily on par with 13 year old boys who play COD.
Jesus, this reads like playing dota with randoms D: Was hoping mobas were eating all of these people up and keeping them in a concentrated shithole.
How so? A 4 man party needs 1 healer 1 tank and 2 DD's. 23.5% of classes are healers(White Mage+Scholar), 23.4% are tanks(Paladin+Warrior) and 53,1% are DD's(rest of the classes). Seeing as scholars aren't really considered proper healers, it makes complete sense to see that many White Mages.
It's one of the nicest communities I have seen in recent MMO's.

Bah. I'm getting code has already been registered(of course it has! by me!), so it won't let me continue downloading the client.
Wat. I just used it right now to change appearance and kept the same name. I think there's another Phial you can sign up for that just got announced for 1.0 players who messed during their free change.
You need to log in using the account that you used that code on during 1.0
Can you not just log into the PC version using the account from PS3? Does the game actually require you have a key from each game to change back and forth?

Scholars are amazing healers - they are just different from WHM. I expected there to be much more seeing the fun mechanisms and the novelty of the class. I also expected many more summoners. The overall distribution seems right, yes. Just a bit surprised about the distribution within the trinities. Also surprised there are not more monks.

I think I hosed it. When I linked my PS3 account, it probably written over my PC account. Cause I don't see the character I made on PC ages ago. Course he wasn't very far I don't think.
That's just it, I'm trying to install the web installer for the client, I guess I could try installing from the DVD disc.

This is why I wish I could just solo completely through the game. The absolute worst parts of this game for me are doing the dungeons with other people. I dread them. I'm a tank, and no - I haven't played a ton of MMO's so I don't know everything about "doing it right."

I'm gonna tank as a tank on purpose if I ever party up with elitist snobs on this video game we play to enjoy.
I'm a tank and will face this head on. I'm not going to stop using the duty finder because it is too convenient.
I tanked in XI so I understand the basic concept, but I had no idea how to tank my first time in this game. And every dungeon has unique challenges that have unique requirements on the tank. In the 3rd dungeon I had a guy yelling "KITE KITE KITE" at me. I know what "kite" means, but I told him to stop using "MMO terms" and speak plainly for new players.
I'm going to tell people straight up to learn how to TALK to people, this will be MANY people's very first MMO experience.
Fairly sure it doesn't work that way. I know plenty of people that linked PS3 versions to their 1.0 CE accounts and didn't lose anything.
Does it say anything about having more than one service account or anything like that?
Ah, I was confused by your post for a second but now understand why people don't captalize that abbreviation when referring to pickup groups. Point taken.

Weird. I can now log into the lodestone, but it only shows my PS3 character. I used the exact same email when I made my PS3 account. Also, I never paid for a month of the PC version. I quit before my free time was up.
I have no personal opinion about scholars(I haven't gotten past lvl 15 yet), but they can't que up as healers right? Can they function as the primary healer in end game raids?
On my server(odin) I see a lot of carbuncles running around, but I don't know what the actual amount is. Are you playing on a legacy server? That might explain things.
Hard mode Ifrit? You guys seem to have all the misfortune.

This is what the guy was saying to me to tell me to lure the slime(s) to the bomb mobs. "Kite" isn't even accurate here, I know... just say "Tank dude, lure the slime to the bombs"
Well, they didn't actually start charging for a year and a half or something ridiculous so... I never subbed but my character was there when I went back.
Check and see if you have FFXIV PC registered on your account, if you don't its on another SE ID.
Scholars queue as healers. At end game raid, you can have 8 man parties, so 1 whm and 1 sch covers the party.
any good tactics for tonberry king? the healer said he knew the fight but apparently he didn't
i've done it two ways so far
tank tanks in the middle
1 dps kills adds
1 dps focuses on boss
when 6-7 adds appear at once, both dps kills adds, then when they start to trickle back the boss dps goes back on the boss
save melee lb for when the big adds appear
or
tank tanks in the middle
everyone attacks boss and uses aoe to kill adds, probably a more caster friendly solution
never had to have the tank kite anything

Has anyone been able to make a character on Ultros since yesterday? I know they took it down, but I'm curious if they've been lifting it in gradual intervals like they usually do or if they're hard-locking it for right now.

I'm a huge MMO noob and I've had nothing but great experiences with the community on Ultros. Especially with the GAF FC when I say that it's my first time going through a dungeon I usually get people volunteering to go with me and then giving me tips the whole way through- it's been great.

ACN can't queue up as healers, but once you become a SCH you ARE a healer.
I had a very good SCH on Dzemael Darkhold and we did pretty good.

Do Scholars have cool looking set options? Everything looks bad for them, probably end up going another direction instead in case.

For a newly launched game the pugs are so full of assholes who can't understand people don't know the fights yet or willing to help teach people. I haven't experienced such constant abuse and lack of general manners in a MMO in a long time. All general chat is the return of barrens chat from WoW, and it feels like I'm surrounded by 4chan idiots.

I played 11 hours yesterday and didn't have a poor experience one single time. Might have just been lucky, but it seemed like everyone was just happy to be able to play for like the first time in a week yesterday. I'm on Adamantoise, not Ultros.

Same here, haven't had a single bad experience in the 3 days I've been playing. Everyone has been really nice and helpful.
They are proper healers and queue as healers
And yes, they can do 4 man end game content fine. As a matter of fact when it comes to raw healing power and sustained healing they outheal a WHM and have much less MP issues. On the other hand they lack burst healing and have much more issues with big incoming burst of damage.

Hmm. Thanks. Nope. Looked under my service accounts on mog station, only lists PS3 account. When I try and add a service account with the registration code I have for PC it says already been registered. Now I have to think if I used another email for it. Lets say I find it, I wouldn't be able to use my PS3 version character ? Since its a different account I guess. Can I link those accounts together?
I've pugged every dungeon at least once, some multiple times, and most were my first time through. I can think of one occurrence where I had a poor tank and maybe 2-3 occurrences where I had an asshole. Like I said, perhaps I'm just extremely lucky.

Based on the comments in this thread, I think BattleMonkey was just extremely unlucky. Which is unfortunate, there are few things worse than having a gaming experience that you paid money for ruined by other little shits running around, and you are mostly powerless to stop it.

You're missing something - both SMN and SCH unlock from ACN. Just because someone has the SCH job unlocked doesn't mean they regularly run around as one, I don't, I'm usually SMN. Also, every SCH is one less SMN who may have it unlocked as well.
