You should upload to a different site. It looks like Picpar is either converting and compressing your pictures, or you're saving them lossy.

I'd recommend Sta.sh or Flickr for hosting your pictures because they've got good speeds and lots of space.

Edit: If you're capturing JPEGs with fraps, here are the settings you should use so that you get lossless PNG files with no framerate counter in stead of JPGs with the framerate included.

I've highlighted the areas of interest.

After you've gotten comfortable with that, if you want to reduce how much bandwidth you use with your images, you can convert the lossless PNG's to really high quality, near lossless JPEGs using the method at the bottom of this post.

The reason to do that is that you'll get near identical quality to PNG with file sizes about 1/2 of the original PNG.

If he's capturing the fuckin' Fraps FPS counter in the corner, my bet is that it's saving lossy JPGs and doesn't have anything to do with the host.

Actually, it's probably both. I bet they're compressed JPGs being uploaded to a site that compresses images, lol.

EDIT: I just tested it out and found that PicPar actually does NOT COMPRESS images. So, ya, it's his capturing.

All that Skyrim stuff

Yeah. I dunno either side of it is whatever for me. I've seen a poop-ton of Skyrim shots, but it's always nifty to see a fresh take. And on my end I've not actually done that many in the game.

I really hope the slew of open world games coming up are very customizable and free to be screened!

I'm expecting Watch_Dogs to be a screenshot king.

We'll see. Next year is the year of GTA V screenshots -- Rockstar, gods, and the ENB willing.

Damn, that's a great demo, and the fact that it's on Unity is amazing(correct me if i'm wrong, but Unity always seemed like a simpler engine)
Loving the Outlast screenshots. getting more and more interested in the game.

I expect next-gen to be horribly restrictive and terrible for screenshots. Let's hope I'm wrong.
We'll still be mostly "cross-gen" for another year. You really think there's a general industry shift away from allowing capable screenshot abilities?

I really feel the opposite. Hell, Final Fantasy XIV on consoles allows you to hide the UI with a button press, and then take screenshots with another... on the controller. Sony has that sharing shit for the PS4. Sony seems to be all about it, fuckin' Shuhei Yoshida posted a screenshot from KillZone multiplayer live on stage.

I actually think devs and publishers are realizing that allowing their fans to "market" the game for them can be a positive.

Bethesda sure as fuck understands that, at least. Also, I think with the rise of PC gaming in the last few years, the newer generation of developers are starting to understand PC gamers a little better. They kind of gave us the finger when the 360 and PS3 rolled out, but I think the PC will have a much better transition into this next console generation. Screenshot capabilities included.

Actually, I think there will be a much stronger emphasis on less intrusive UIs in the next generation. That's something, too. I can see things like idle-fading HUDs becoming standard as developers try to increase the level of cinematic presentation.

A lot more games now have huds that only appear when something changes than ever before. Also, I decided to swallow the bucket of bullets and install Skyrim again. An angel must be looking after me though, because Windows 8.1 doesn't play well with ENB and i've hit nothing but snags with the mods I chose to go with, so you won't be seeing anything from me! HA!

Maybe. I'm not going to be optimistic though. For every game that allows us to take the exact screenshot we want, there are 10 more that make it impossible. You can always count on Bethesda though. I sincerely hope that Techland leaves the dev menu buried somewhere in Dying Light's code. That game looks like it will be amazing for screenies.

Also, Brothers

Ok, first time posting, I hope I get everything right. Taken using fraps on PNG mode.

OH MAH GAD. So BUTTERFUL!

Don't recall if your character glows/lights up as much as they did in 1.0 in 2.0 when they are near light sources. But i'm probably the only person on the planet who loved that.

The in-game screenshot generator of Final Fantasy XIV takes compressed images. Please don't post them here. Use Fraps or SweetFX to take uncompressed PNGs.

Actually, there's a PNG option for screenshots in the options menu, try that. I don't know how the IQ of those turn out. Using third-party capture software will also remove the Square Enix copyright from the bottom left.

Radeon Pro takes uncompressed bmps.

Its also amazing how water changes color with ToD in this engine, subsurface scattering really does wonders.

I don't think it's SSS that's changing the color like that. CE has a smart 'water fog' thing for colorizing, and I believe that is reactive to the ToD. SSS would make sense for murkier water, but I don't think they're implementing it that way.

Uh... Not that it's important :P.

Dunno havent check that just changed time of day and water looked much different.
Doesnt in real life water color depend of light penetration through it, so basically SSS? :p At least by my logic i think it works that way.

I'll check those settings in editor :)

The color of the water is more dependent on its contents than the light applied to it. Swampy water has dense particles that create a greenish hue. Tropical water is less saturated with opaque particles, or with whatever it i that makes it more blueish (perhaps salt and the effect is similar to atmospheric stuf making the sky blue?). In any case SSS is less about coloration due to light, and more about the spread of light through the color and material of a substance, which cause coloration. Surely though, a colored light would affect this, but based on quick look at what the SSR stuff is, it's more some sort if volumetric reflection of light, which I suppose is a very similar principle. I'm not nearly an expert, I'm just talking from my continuing studies of modeling and on quick looks at how the CE water material works.

I guess volumetric reflection is in principle very similar to SSS. In any case, the important note is that the waters junk (which in CE is the water fog), is what mainly colors it and reacts to light. Not just its depth/the lighting conditions.

And I feel that was far too verbose. Awesome stuff all around! That video makes me dearly want an open world CE rpg. Yargh. With better than chivalry combat.

SweetFX adds best graphics features to games check out this its so cool

Alright CRAZY idea I'm throwing out here but if you set Chromattic Abberation to a NEGATIVE value with SweetFx, would it be possible to remove it from games that have it by default?

Someone should test this out, though I'm guessing instead of red and blue lines it'll just be purple lines everywhere.

Edit: Also, where'd you get the new version of SweetFx?

It's the same version of SweetFX that Boulotaur last posted, but someone made a CA shader for it.

God only knows why....

Ballsack new page. Uh. Screenshot. Yeah.
