Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

I don't understand this opinion. Pinball Arcade's physics are a lot more solid (Zen Pinball 2 feels a lot slower and slippier under the controls, meanwhile Pinball Arcade is extremely precise) and the tables feel a lot less generic in comparison to Zen Pinball 2. I guess you could make the argument that Zen Pinball 2 is a lot easier than Pinball Arcade, but that kind of feels like it's because the controls aren't as good so they had to turn down the difficulty.

Disclaimer, the only tables I own for Zen Pinball 2 are the original concept tables and the Star Wars tables, meanwhile on Pinball Arcade I own the whole collection.

And I would do one of those giant "games in your library post" but it would take three posts.

I am not exactly a Pinball expert so don't take my words regarding those two games as gospel, hahaha.

I am not exactly a Pinball expert so don't take my words regarding those two games as gospel, hahaha.

Fair enough, just do me a favor then: Play a good amount of time on Zen Pinball 2, then immediately change to Pinball Arcade and play for a while, and focus mainly on the ball and flipper physics. You will notice that Pinball Arcade has a HUGE edge over ZP2.

And you know what? I might do one of those big game posts. brb.

VLR? Gravity Rush ? Rayman Origins ? Mutant blobs ? Wipeout ?

There were plenty good games in PSN+ so it's hard to advice something without knowing someones taste.

Think I'll go with Gravity Rush next, good shout.

Get a year's PS+ instantly; it's really worth it!

Also, FIFA 13 is just a squads update of FIFA Football. It's such a shame, because if they did FIFA on Vita right - i.e. update the actual game, add in Ultimate Team and let your carry over your career back and forth with the PS3 version, it would be really great. I mean, it plays well but I just don't see the need in upgrading.

And FIFA 14 is just another re-skin.

I've had PS+ for a few months, and while I didn't feel it was great value for PS3 games (I own most of them on PC) it's certainly fantastic value for Vita games.

I know FIFA 13 was just a reskin, and I'm pissed off about it, but it came free with my Vita and it's an absolute blast.

£150 for:

Wifi Vita
8GB + Mega Pack
FIFA 13
30 Days of PS+

How could I not jump in?

Knytt is not for everyone but imo you didn't understand its philosophy, since you named it, i could say that in demon's souls you need to understand by yourself how to kill an enemy, in knytt you need to understand how to reach a certain point, the level design is the "enemy" or maybe i should say that the entire game is a big puzzle game, where you always need to use your brain to reach the points you want.
In demon's souls and guacamelee the difficulty is represented by the enemies, in knytt by the level, infact in knytt enemies are nothing more than moving obstacles or traps.
In demon's souls the focus is in the combat, in knytt in the exploration and the platforming.
I don't know if i was clear, but i guess no matter what you won't change your mind anyway.
I just want to be a little clearer.
In demon's souls the challenge is find a good way to kill the enemies without being killed, in knytt the challenge is to find a way to reach certain points, in a certain sense it's more faithful to the platformer nature than many praised platformers.

As i already said knytt underground says neither what to do nor how to do it, and while the main character remains always the same(i'm talking about the third chapter, the real game) the more you play the more YOU(the player) become skilled.

The difference between knytt and other metroidvania is that a normal metroidvania blocks your way somehow, afterwards your character learns some skill and you use that character's skill to unlock the path, in knytt underground you find a place you are not able to reach, but going on playing the game puts you in a situation that makes you understand how to reach that and other places using creatively the background and/or what the unaltered character already can do.
You return to that point you weren't able to reach before, nothing in the game has changed, the character and the background are unaltered, but YOU, the player, have changed learning a "skill" that makes you able to reach that point.

Exactly like in demon's souls you, the player, is the focus of the gameplay, not the character, you become better understanding how to fight an enemy/reach a point, not your character.

This is the kind of stroke of genius i want from an indie game, not just some gimminck or an artistic coat of paint.

Knytt underground is not for everyone though and 15€ is too much, but if you buy it on sale and understand and appreciate its philosophy then you'll find it awesome imo.

Oh I see. So there is a global Trophy list, and Guacamelee will just have one which it fills up from either platform, but Sound Shapes (as previously mentioned), will have two Trophy lists?
It has two separate trophy lists but when you transfer the save over to the other platform via cloudsaves it should unlock the trophys you've already unlocked on the other platform for that one.
Imports bro.
We still have the problem of DLC being region locked if you grab the retail version though :(

I received 2 emails from Amazon.fr. Good news, Rayman Legends will be released sooner. Bad news, Tearaway will be released later.

I'm totally not an expert of pinball tables but i feel the same, zen pinball 2 tables almost feel and look like toy pinballs tables to me, while pinball arcade feels more real.

I will post a screen next time though. Is there an easy way of doing that via Vita? I know you can take shots, but sharing them I mean, do you do it via imageshack or whatever?
I use content manager personally, and throw it up to imgur. A lot of people use the twitter app though, and I think there are some sites that will allow you to upload direct from the Vita.

Alright, here we go. I could probably talk about PSP / PSM games if people want me to.

@Field: It's a fun little minigolf game. Imported from Japan.
A-men: Only played the Japanese demo. Didn't like it. Wasn't impressive graphically and the controls felt unpolished. Would not recommend.
Aabs Animals: Five minutes, three golds. That's all you need to know.
Alien Breed: If it looks and sounds like classic Alien Breed (but with wonky modern controls) then it's classic Alien Breed.
Army Corps of Hell: I played this about twice when I had a physical copy of it. Gets really grindy after a while but it's not too bad. Might rebuy it when it goes on sale.
Asphalt Injection:: It's shit, but that special kind of Gameloft shit where it remains kind of playable and enjoyable. Would much prefer an Asphalt 8 port instead or something.
Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation: The Persona system is a fucking waste of time, technical glitches and framerate drops everywhere, the story is uninteresting and why even bother with the multiplayer. Do not recommend.
Atelier Totori Plus: Own it, haven't played it. Have put a little time into Meruru though.
Atelier Meruru Plus: Quite enjoying myself with this one. The quests are interesting, building your town is addicting and it's that sort of cutesy puke I like.
Bentley's Hackpack: I kind of enjoyed this one. Two of the games were fun but anything that uses the motion sensor in the sort of ball-tilt-table mechanic can go right to hell.
Big Sky Infinity: Really bright, colorful 2D shooter and has a lot of replay value. Would be on my Vita right now if I wasn't scrounging for space. Highly recommended.
BlazBlue: Never played it before I got my Vita, is now my favorite fighting game. So much fun.
BreakQuest Extra Evolution: It's OK but I managed to finish the entire game without having to pay for balls in about 4 hours. At least it was free.
Burn the Rope: It's alright. It's a port of the mobile game at a not-so-ridiculous price.
Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified: Campaign sucked donkey dicks. Multiplayer was alright (I prestiged once).
Chronovolt: Oh god no. The framerate is so low it makes the game nearly unplayable normally.
Coconut Dodge Revitalized: A timesink, but a good timesink.
Dead or Alive 5+: I'm a little upset we might not be getting the Ultimate content but it's still a decent fighting game (with one of the most generous demos I've ever seen, you have no reason not to check it out).
Disagea 3: I enjoy the silliness of the plot and this is pretty much the only game to take grinding to it's natural limit. Although I can't really play it right now because D2 takes up a ton less space.
DiveKick: I really, REALLY like DiveKick, but online has been borked for me since day one, and I can't play against the AI alone.
DJMAX Technika Tune: This is a lot of fun, and the library of songs is great. My only problem is that the game tends to be a little hard even on the easier difficulties.
Dokuro: I can see why people like this but there's just something missing from this to make me like it. Oh well.
Doodle God: Fuck no.
Dragon Fantasy Book I: It's pretty grind heavy and I came back to it after a month off it and had no idea what I was doing. Sometimes modern mechanics and balancing can be a good thing.
Dragon's Crown: A ton of fun in the sense of the actual brawling and the RPG elements. A must buy.
Draw Slasher: Really simple gameplay and I don't like the entirely touch-based controls at all.
Dungeon Hunter Alliance: I actually really like it. Sure, it's generic, but it works, there's no real bugs or anything and the loot chain is better than Diablo 3. What more can you ask for.
Dynasty Warriors Next: For a launch title on the Vita, it managed to be better than pretty much every DW game on the PSP. I really really like it and urge people to try it out.
Fifa Soccer: It's a good soccer game, but it's really outdated these days, and the reskin sequels leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
EDF2017: Absolutely brilliant combination of simple loot chains and pure shooter gameplay. A must buy.
escapeVektor: If you love Pac-Man, get this. You will love it just as much. Me? Ehhh.
Escape Plan: One of the best post launch support cases I have ever seen. First patch fixed almost everything wrong with the game, and a ton of free and paid DLC over the months afterwards. Would recommend to anybody.
Farming Simulator: I couldn't figure out the demo from the terrible, terrible tutorial. Really turned me off the game.
Floating Cloud God Saves The Pilgrims: Has a TON of challenge but is still an enjoyable dual stick.
Flying Hamster HD: ^
Foosball 2012: The AI is a cheat and the physics feel like they work against you, and it's a shame because the game is really fun otherwise. Maybe if you have friends?
Frobisher Says: WarioWare but less quality. It's free to try though, so go and try it.
Fruit Ninja: Until that price hits free or 99c if you're desperate? PHHHHHBBBBBTTTTTTT.
Germinator: Been beaten by it's sequel Ms. Germinator but still a fun Puzzle Bobble clone.
Gravity Rush: Fuck the gravity slide, but it's a unique experience that's worth buying a Vita for. Highly recommended.
Guacamelee: An amazing game, parody and experience all in one. Highly recommended.
Guilty Gear XX: Really hard for beginners to break into, but it's enjoyable. Also of note - try downloading a game while playing this. You'll have no music. I'm serious. I've never had the opportunity to bring this up.
The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character: The lives mechanic makes this game's puzzles a lot more frustrating than they need to be.
Hatsune Miku: I enjoy it as a rhythm game. It's just not as good as DJMAX.
Hotline Miami: E in videogame form. Buy it now.
Hot Shots Golf: For an arcade-ish golf game, it's really enjoyable. Buy it.
Hustle Kings: A really polished pool experience. If you have any interest in pool or snooker, buy this one.
Jacob Jones: It has some clever puzzles and it's pretty damn cheap, even if it's a Layton knockoff. Buy this one. No details on the second episode yet though.
Jak and Daxter Collection: A really bad port that has horrible control sets due to a horrible framerate. Avoid until it's patched.
Jet Set Radio: Age hasn't done this game's gameplay very good. It's clunky and I didn't really like it. Soundtrack wasn't as good as I was hoping either.
Jetpack Joyride: Really fun, especially since it's free.
KickBeat: It's really hard but fun to look at and the create-a-track system works surprisingly well.
Knytt Underground: I was kind of impressed with the style, but the gameplay just didn't sit right with me, and I often lost my way.
Kung Fu Rabbit: Imagine Super Meat Boy but a lot less polished. Eh.
Let's Fish!: It's alright, but don't play it in long bursts.
Limbo: As a port? Perfect. The base game though? God. The last hour (of 3) is one of the most disappointing I have ever played.
LittleBigPlanet: Huge, creative, and lots and lots of content. Buy this one now.
Little Deviants: It's simple and uses all the Vita's tricks. I do enjoy this, but it's not something everyone will be able to sit through.
Lumines Electronic Symphony: Compared to other Lumines titles it's lacking in content and the soundtrack is smaller, but it's still really good, especially if you can pick it up for $20.
Machinarium: The puzzles are too complex for my brain but it appears to be a good port.
Madden NFL 13: It's an OK port but I'm not really into football so I don't know how good of a football game it is.
Men's Room Mayhem: I really liked it - Flight Control with a couple of twists, and it's really cheap. If you need a good timesink, here it is.
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Hot damn. Even though the framerate suffers in cutscenes they're still amazing games. MGS3 is still one of my favorite games of all time. One day I'll do a BIG BOSS run.
MLB 13: Even as a baseball newcomer it's still a lot of fun to play.
Modnation Racers: If you're willing to excuse a consistently low framerate you'll get some fun out of this.
Mortal Kombat: Stupid hard but still a fun fighting game. A ton of content too.
MotorStorm RC: They really needed to tune up one or two cars but it's still a lot of fun to play.
MotoGP: It feels really good to play, but I haven't had much of a chance to.
Ms. Germinator: A great Puzzle Bobble clone.
MUD FIM: I have a lot of fun racing on the bikes, but the trophy list is ridiculous.
Muramasa Rebirth: Looks amazing and is a lot of fun to play. Highly recommended.
Need for Speed Most Wanted: Even though it's still not the Burnout Paradise 2 the world needs, it's still a great game and great port. And it's only $20!
New Little King's Story: This game has a lot of problems but those who like managing stuff will have fun here.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1/2: I can't stand these games and I don't know why. I just find them completely inpenetrable.
Nun Attack: It would be a lot better if this game could be mapped to buttons but it's OK.
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath: I'm impressed. A really good port of a really good game.
Open Me: A clever idea but the AR works against it like almost every other game.
Orgarhythm: It's repetitive and kind of slow but I really do like it.
Persona 4 Golden: Seriously?
Pinball Arcade: Best pinball game on Vita. Amazing set of tables, really good controls, and great presentation. Buy everything!
Pinball Heroes: The table quality in this game tends to vary wildly, but it's $6 and there's a demo, so I can't complain too much.
PixelJunk Monsters: It's high quality but high difficulty.
Plants vs Zombies: Do you like Plants vs Zombies or need a soft introduction to tower defense? Buy.
PlayStation All-Stars: It's enjoyable. No Super Smash Bros, but it's still fun to play even being in SSB's shadow.
Cliff Diving/Fireworks/Table Soccer: YAWN.
Puddle: This is kind of nice, but the difficulty really turned me off.
PulzAR: A really original use of AR, pretty much the only game worth using the AR cards for.
Pure Chess: It's a pretty nice game of chess, with play-by-mail and lots of challenges to do. If you like chess, buy.
Quell Momento: A really enjoyable puzzle game with a lovingly presented sense of zen. I recommend.
Ragnarok Oddysey: Wait for ACE.
Ratchet and Clank Full Frontal Assault: A bad port of a bad Ratchet game. You can jump above the camera for god's sake!
Rayman Legends: The touch levels really turned me off but at least the invasion levels are going to be re-added. I might play it again when it gets them.
Rayman Origins: My favorite platformer since Super Mario Galaxy 2. Play it now, for god's sake.
Resistance Burning Skies: There's no real need to play this now with CoD and Killzone on the horizon.
Retro City Rampage: It's a great throwback and an enjoyable game to boot. Recommended.
Ridge Racer: Buy Ridge Racer on PSP instead.
Rocketbirds: The platforming sucks, the puzzling sucks. It has a good style but the game is just...bad.
Shinobido 2: I REALLY liked this game and I don't know why. It's clunky and slow and if you get into a fight you're screwed, but it's still a ton of fun maanging your tools and taking on missions. Recommended.
Silent Hill: This game is really hard to play solo. Play with friends if you do decide to get it.
Sine Mora: Really hard but as a sort of bullet hell shooter it's really well made and produced, and it looks fantastic.
Smart As: If it wasn't so large this'd still be on my Vita. A well done train-your-brain game. And John Cleese.
Sonic and Sega All Stars: A perfect port of a really fun kart racer. Comes highly recommended.
Sound Shapes: I hate the death mode levels and I can't beat for shit, but the campaign is nice (but really short).
Soul Sacrifice: Another experience that's well worth buying a Vita for. Really well made.
Spelunky: Highly polished with tons of replay value and comes recommended.
Spy Hunter: YAWN.
StarDrone: The controls suck ass.
Star Wars Pinball: The theme is kind of cool but it suffers from the same problems as Zen.
Stealth Inc.: Really difficult and has no level sharing (yet) but it's still pretty good.
Street Fighter x Tekken: It's a good port but probably the worst fighter on Vita (to be fair, it's still good, but it sits on the bottom of the pile).
Sumioni: You need to finish the game six times minimum to finish it completely. I was getting bored out of my mind halfway through the first run.
SunFlowers: Fun little collecting game. Feel free to get it if you have a couple of dollars spare.
Superfrog: It's enjoyable for a really old experience.
Super Monkey Ball: I like it but the controls are a little difficult to work with.
Super Stardust: Really really well done twin stick. Recommended.
Table Top Tanks: The AR really screws this game. Would've been more fun without it.
Tales from Space Mutant Blobs Attack: Really high quality 2D platformer, could not recommend more.
Thomas was Alone: ^
Total Recoil: It's a fun twin stick. Just takes a little bit of grind to get better.
Touch my Katamari: This isn't the Katamari game to start with.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3: It's alright. Bit lacking in content though.
Uncharted Fight for Fortune: A good idea weighed down by it's integration with Golden Abyss.
Uncharted Golden Abyss: Even without it's multiplayer and a short campaign, it's still a good enough game to recommend. Feels really similar to it's console bretheren.
Unit 13: A really good third person score attack shooter, with a ton of content to do and online co-op. RIP Zipper.
Urban Trial Freestyle: I like it, but it has a slight lack of content and feels a little unpolished.
Velocity Ultra: Works great as both shoot em up and puzzle game. Would heartily recommend.
Virtua Tennis 4: A perfect port of a really enjoyable game. AI gets cheap by the end of the world tour though (Yay save scumming!)
The Walking Dead: Not the best port but it works fine at least. Go enjoy yourself. It lost to Persona 4 Golden in the Metacritic wars though.
When Vikings Attack: As a little arcade game you play for five minutes at a time, it's great!
Wipeout 2048: While I like Pulse more, this is still a great Wipeout experience, and it practically doubles in length with the HD and Fury content.
WRC3: Good port, but I can't stand rally games.
Zen Pinball 2: Doesn't feel anywhere near as solid as it's foe Pinball Aracde. But as a pinball game for the kids or for those looking for easy stuff, it's alright.
Zero Escape Virtue's Last Reward: My favorite game on the Vita to date. BUY AND PLAY 999 BEFORE YOU PLAY THIS THOUGH.
Zombie Tycoon 2: Feels really undercooked...plus it's an RTS. Eh.

^ Incredible. I very much enjoyed reading it.

*Claps*

People need to do this more, and not just me and BlueMaxima! Come on people!

I'm no good at reviewing games. I love 'em all :(

I will say this though:

WRC3: Good port, but I can't stand rally games.
I strongly disagree. It's a shit port and Milestone should be ashamed. Why on earth did they remove the career mode?!

I typically post from my phone, so I'm definitely not going to do a long ass overview like blue maxima did lol. Great if him to put in the effort though.

Just do the ones that you remember!

Hell man, I am no Roger Ebert in my prose and English is not even my first language but I managed to do it, hahaha.

Where's your British pride? :)

I typically post from my phone, so I'm definitely not going to do a long ass overview like blue maxima did lol. Great if him to put in the effort though.

Go get a laptop and make one!

Are you saying later than the November 22? Are their delivery services overloaded with sending PS4 and X1 or something? Or is Sony switching it's release date again?

New release date on Amazon.fr is November 27th but on FNAC site it's still 22. I looked Amazon UK and DE, it still says November 22 too so I'm not sure. Maybe it's an error, maybe it's delayed and they are the first to to change to the new date. I don't think it has anything to do with Amazon being overloaded they are so big and it's not like Tearaway is gonna sell by millions anyway.

I just want to be a little clearer.

Yeah, I agree with this, I liked how the map was open for exploration and the only limitation were your skills, I also noted how you improved along the game, after beating the challegue "Falu Kohe" with the two trophies related to it, I felt badass ^_^

I am glad they removed the career mode. I can't stand racers based on real world licences having career modes.

Being able to just play full championships in each class is perfect for me.

I'm a proud new owner of a PS Vita \o/ Now I just need to wait my P4G from amazon...

In the meanwhile what do you guys think I should play, gravity rush, uncharted or new little king's story?

They all have their faults and great things. Depends what you're in the mood for and if you want to finish the game before P4G arrives. Out of the three, I think Gravity Rush is the best, so perhaps start with that.

Nice overview, only small things I disagree with. By far the strongest objection I have against your assessment of Pinball games - Zen Pinball 2 on the Vita is almost perfect. You'll not like every table, and there are very easy ones as well as really hard ones, but I have all tables that are available, and the game is just amazingly good. Superb UI, super fluent gameplay, great online leaderboard features, cross buy with PS3 for all DLC, just flawless.

I give up, I'll just get the following then...

Floating Cloud God Saves The Pilgrims HD
Flying Hamster HD
Velocity Ultra

None of them were discounted on PS+ before right?

Are you a millionaire?

No, Vita is just the first platform I've been able to wholeheartedly support.

Vita has no gaimz... :)

See that fire extinguisher there?

I own every original concept table and the PvZ table and the Star Wars tables, and the only two I liked were Epic Quest and Plants vs Zombies. I wouldn't be able to name all the amazing tables on Pinball Arcade with both hands - Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars, Big Shot, Whirlwind, Flight 2000, Star Trek, Terminator 2 (coming soon), Pinbot, Harley Davidson... The UI in Zen is actually not the best, especially when importing tables (but to be fair, Arcade doesn't have the best either) and the gameplay is nowhere near as good as Arcade due to the easy ball physics combined with the slippery slow flippers. And since both titles have leaderboards and cross-buy you can't really compare the two.

My Vita's download speeds have been terrible since the last firmware update so I'm not gonna be playing Killzone for a loooonnggg time due to this dang ass 1.1GB patch.

A) The VIta shouldn't really be affected by the patch. Maybe you should try resetting your Vita's network connection.

B) You can play KZM singleplayer while you wait for the patch to download.

In the meanwhile what do you guys think I should play, gravity rush, uncharted or new little king's story?

Play Gravity Rush.

It has some flaws (mainly because of touch controls) but the story, the city and the world created around the game is awesome. Weird as hell, but awesome.
___

BTW VitaGAF, I'm only played the first Uncharted. Should I play Golden Abyss first and 2 and 3 later? Among Thieves is the only game in the trilogy i don't currently have. And it's supposed to be the best. So maybe it should be the last i play.

What does the chalice do?
Also, I'm curious about pictures if they help me learn something. :)
The chalice is an item you get after you sac 32 points to Kali. It allows you to catch blood droplets that, after collecting 8, converts into another heart. Very important item if you want to have a safe trip through hell.

Exactly, someone said that wanted some kind of reward for completing a quest, the reward is becoming a better player, imo it's a very huge reward that makes me feel really good.

I finally got round to playing chapter 3 recently and loved it. Chapter 1 and 2 is to misleading and should just be called tutorials.

I loved the exploration with no combat. The puzzles. They way I had to work out certain things I could do rather than be told. That then made other areas doable.

It was just a really fun and relaxing experience.

As for mini reviews, a lot of us did that but a fair while ago. It would be a great idea for its own thread but these ones move so fast that they get lost after a few hours.

Oh lunch break in ten mins. Time for a bit of killzone (play 20 mins before work, seems so good. )

I'm a proud new owner of a PS Vita o/ Now I just need to wait my P4G from amazon...

In the meanwhile what do you guys think I should play, gravity rush, uncharted or new little king's story?

Uncharted first as a great way to get used to playing on vita.

The gravity rush because its awesome but harder to control than uncharted.

Last little kings because the other 2 are better.

^ Incredible. I very much enjoyed reading it.

People need to do this more, and not just me and BlueMaxima! Come on people!

*prods random VitaGAF members*

I think I'll try to do this...my work is pretty dead today. I have a feeling it'll emphasize for me 1) how much money I've wasted on games I never play, and 2) how many awesome games the Vita has.

Maaan, I leave Gaf to pack for a weekend vacation and I miss the goodness. 9 hour drive I am currently in D: got ma vita though, hooray!!
What's the best sidescrolling shooter for Vita? Come to think of it, I haven't gotten any of those yet.
I feel bad I have never played Sine Moria, but Big Sky Infinity is a great side scrolling shootemup. It is Cross Buy, and cross save (as long as your signed in to PSN). It randomly generates levels every time, and the better you do, the harder the game gets. There are "black hole events" that happen randomly, with special effects and special tactics needed for those sections. It's a blast, and it's pretty funny too. Ps3 has 4p co op, vita has a "horse" mode of online. It's great fun. Also you can level your ship up too. Starts out somewhat weak, but can get beastly!

Just got over 900k on my last completion! Good for 6th on the leaderboards. Very ecstatic.

I ghosted a bit. Was up to 19 hearts. Took some pictures if anyone is interested.
I would also be interested in pictures, that's amazing! Slowly but surely my SpelunkIQ is rising...

I'll transfer them to my computer tonight and upload them.

On the topic of the chalice

I found out how you can essentially farm blood indefinitely (up to 99 hearts) provided you want to spend the time and make sure you aren't touched by death :-P.

I've gotten it once but looked at the description and was like "what good does this do me?"

Then again, I've never made it to Hell. I can't even clear the normal game.

it's nice because it actually gives you a reason to kill enemies. i won't save a damsel/doggie without beating on them twice and getting all the blood I can before saving them.

I think if you get good at taking out shopkeepers, it won't take long before you beat the game.
