• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

GTA V has gone gold.

The past two previews on both Tuesday and Friday are absolutely riddled with mission spoilers and that is quite ridiculous for a company like Rockstar where they made an official statement that 'They do not want to spoil stuff', yet IGN releases two articles in a few days time where there's a myriad of missions being told. I once again skipped through the entire article when the word 'mission' started to pop up and that right there is a poorly written hands-on for a game that the entire gaming world is looking forward to. IGN, if you read this. You are loosing credit by the seconds and the way you establish your article writing is beyond disappointing.

We're definitely seeing current gen console screenshots at this point at least.

Very rough around the edges. That crane in the background to the left is jaggy beyond belief. I'm still getting this day 1 on 360 but I need it on a next gen console or PC asap as well.

where did you take it from?

I honestly thought that screenshot was a photo when it was quoted.

me too.

The lighting is so good, watching the trailers on the ipad makes them looks like next gen.

In the past, the presence of "fog" in video games was used to hide draw distance.

GTAV, though, it's got masterful fog use. Sense of scale is tremendous.

I mean, this is just fucking nuts.

Someone brought up in the GTA forums that the shots of Liberty City seem to be upgraded in graphics, I can see better lighting and draw distance too. Could it be...?

It looks fine to me mostly thanks to the art style they use.

I'm so glad jaggies are one of the few things I can't notice.
Same here.. I have an 8870 in my PC right now so I've gotten used to seeing them lol. I'd rather have jaggies and higher framerate than high AA and 15 fps. (On my computer, I mean.)

I know right, fucking hell, it seems so dense. I cannot wait to climb to the top of a mountain then look around, jump off and die.

Then take a plane as high as I can go then skydive off. Man, I cannot wait.

Any idea when Amazon will start shipping GTA V? lol

Before 12pm the day before release to guarantee day-one if you chose First Class (or the USA equivalent).

not afraid to say I'm taking the 16th, 17th and 18th off for vacation
needed to use some vacation days, I still have a week left to take before the end of the year!

I know, but didn't they put like over 130 million dollars into the game or something? They should have used some of that paper for a custom soundtrack option, rather than more stupid building advertisements.

It's amazing how the GTA games on the OG Xbox had custom radio stations, yet they couldn't even manage that on either console version of IV. Red Dead had a custom soundtrack option on PS3, so I hope they at the very least have that.

I notice jaggies and non native resolutions quite a bit. I wish I didn't.

This game doesn't look that hot from an IQ standpoint imo. Artistically it looks nice but the hardware can't keep up.

Of course not, these consoles are old as hell and Rockstar's trying to do a lot with this game. If we get it and it looks really close to how it has in all of the media and it runs close to 30fps for most of the time it'll be a miracle.

It will. I have a hard time believing the screenshots are not downsampled.

Is it weird that my first thought when I saw this gif was wanting to snipe him off the ledge? The things GTA does to me.

Next Monday/September 16th.

If you have prime they ship on the night of the 16th.

The day before it releases I believe.

Thanks guys!

"True gameplay"? The difference here is the HUD. We've seen plenty of shots that would count as "gameplay" if the HUD wasn't disabled.

and the camera angle, no? I don't remember seeing anything like that at least, it makes quite a difference when actually seeing how you will be playing it and not with cinematic camera angles.

Besides, R* has stressed out mutiple times that the amount of content this game (and San Andreas) have, is because they're working on well known HW, and how much of the GTAIV development time, was wasted on technical problems.
So i really can't complain, better this than another GTAIV on next gen consoles.
They can still pimp this out on PC/next gen in the future.

Honestly people will be buying it for PC anyway, so I don't see why console players have to miss out on the functionality. If it's a money issue than screw putting a giant GTAV poster on a side of a fancy hotel. It's not like anyone looks at that and and says "Oh god, those three guys look cool, this totally changes my mind about video games, and now I'm gonna buy a PS3 for this game." It's fairly stupid to waste resources on that type of stuff when you can fix up some little things with the game.

I don't know, they look really similar to GTA IV if you make them fullscreen based on my memory. The latest batch of screenshots look like direct screenshots from in-game to me. In motion it'll look even better than those screenshots if anything imo.

We'll see soon enough!

Something people who criticize the 'jaggies' in screenshots and ignore the incredible art direction are lacking. Or, image quality.

You went for my throat, damn.
