GTA V has gone gold.

My roommate said someone from his class, who apparently works at the local game store, got to play the game when it arrived at the store a couple of days ago.

I call bullshit though.

My fathers brothers sisters cousins former roommate said he has a copy, but Im calling bullshit on that too.

Sounds great, except Rockstar games have been totally handholding games this gen. Even greats like Red Dead Redemption are terrible with hand holding.

There's a few parts where the game says something like "find a way to get --into some place--" like, "Find a way to get into the barn!" when McFarlane's barn is burning down. Or "Find a way to get into the camp" when you're trying to break into Dutch's camp in the hills. And in both cases, the INSTANT they say "find a way" they put a marker off to the side for you to go to showing you where to climb. The games were really idiot proof. What they should do is put the marker at the place you have to get to, and then you have to find the way.

Hopefully not. He also said:

"It’s disconcertingly blank – the streets aren’t reassuringly outlined and there’s no coloured line for me to follow, just a vague marker nagging in the distance. Feeling somewhat blinded, I miss turnings and find myself frequently heading in the wrong direction. But I’m also getting closer, and eventually arrive at a large factory."

When referring to the GPS and having to find Michael for a mission. This is what gives me hope that they have done away with the hand holding, or at least dialed it back.

There is no 'lead version', they're being developed simultaneously.

They've been demoing the PS3 version to assuage the fears of those who remember GTA IV on PS3.

Actually, the install thing bothers me too and I'd switch to 360, if I was actually planning to keep it any longer.

Hearing the constant drive noise coming out of the ps3 while my brother plays COD, holy Christ is it annoying.

So yeah, I love full installs.

Well my dad works at the Rockstar factory and he let me play the GTA on their computer.

this entire thread is trying to say the PS3 is the "lead version" and yet my comment based on the factual abilities of each platform is "fanboyish"?

yes or no, the 360 allows for full game installs for every game?

yes or no, the PS3 only has partial installs,, based on the developers choice to use it or not. (of which Rockstar is mandating 8 of the 15 gigs)

sorry but, having to run a game 100% of the time, allowing for any Disc Read Errors or overheating, drive wear down and other issues that come with streaming data off a disc, isnt "lead platform" to me.

tell me how not putting the device that would cost me $150 to send it in for repairs, at risk by using it when i dont have to, is me being a fanboy. its called being smart and not using the least stable device to play my games, when i already went through almost 10 years of PS2 and first 3 years of 360 with "cant read disc" errors no matter how clean the disc is and no matter how many times i run a CD lens cleaner disc thru the drive.

i dont see anything on the PS3 box that says "60 more minutes of gameplay exclusive to PS3" both games are the same, they're developed for the lowest common denominator of either platforms hardware limitations, like every other cross-plat game, the only thing left is actual stability and choice of knowing when i sit down for a 10 hour GTA marathon i dont have to worry about anything.

i got both systems right here in front of me, playing TLOU as a matter of fact, but i use the one that allows full game installs for cross-plat games,

only thing im a fan of, is knowing when i install a game, its gonna work 100% of the time. whether 1 version has 1.5 AA vs 1.75 isnt what determines "lead platform" to me and on the same token, my XBL Gold just ran out, if the PS3 had the install option i would of been using that all along, but $50 for gold is cheaper than $150 to ship the PS3 to sony to get fixed if it broke, so ill go with the cheaper and safer bet. sorry if my financial concerns over devices that cost hundreds of dollars and trying to preserve them, come off as fanboyish.

Relax bud, it's all good.

PC version confirmed!

Pre-order cancelled.

I let Reddit know, they're confirming with Major Nelson right now.

Also, while I understand technically the PS3 version of GTA4 was the lesser of the two,I still had a great time with that version and am getting 5 for the PS3 as well.

You could disable waypoints in the options. It became a little bit tougher to do certain things (running down bad dudes in those spontaneous missions, finding things), but eventually you get used to doing some searching, and it becomes 10x more immersive. Also, you can look at your map from the start menu to see general checkpoints/enemies. It was more methodical, and still optional if you wanted to take the hard way. Lots of fun, try it out if you still have the game.

Tell me how that insignificant detail makes any difference to the "lead platform" whatever that means in a generation where both sides have a large enough audience to bother making the game work on both consoles.

Is it the new trend to hate a virtually amazing game for no obvious reason? Just saying, i didn't see the same reactions on overhyped previews for TLOU/Bioshock Infinite.
Holy shit this made my day! GTA forums everyone!

For someone who names himself as not being a fanboy you seriously do react as one. Calm down. I reacted to your post because it was filled with fanboyism reactions and the fact that your technical view of the PS3 was clearly wrong.

Hahahahahaha. That's an understatement:

I check that forum out every now and then and guess what, it's full of soft, little dick, hipster, feminist, pussy nerd warriors that have wet dreams about a Mexican tranny becoming prseident of the United States Of America and if they had it their way gay rights week would become a national holiday in place of Christmas, they're a bunch of f*cking weirdos.

Plus their favorite type of game is Japanese manga bullsh*t, so basically little 10yr old girls dressed up like whores running around f*cking up green goo monsters with special lighting attacks, they think it makes them cool, they're really justa bunch of sad losers hating on people actually living in 2013 instead of 1999, f*ck EM' GTA V will end up selling close to or over 40million if it comes out on Next-Gen as well as current gen, NEOFAGS don't represent normal human beings, their hate means nothing to R*."

I remember during my first replay of GTA IV, at some point I thought "Damn, I didn't learn this map at all, what the hell is the matter with me. Guess I'm getting old." Eventually it dawned on me that it was because of the GPS route feature, always leading me exactly where I needed to go, no effort required from me at all. I turned it off and it's been off ever since. For me one of the funnest things about GTA has always been learning the lay of land to the point where I can navigate through the entire game as if I'm driving around the real city I live in. And GTA V is going to be extra sweet, being an LA native. First thing I'm going to do is turn off the GPS route. (I'll save turning off markers for a replay.)

NEOFAGS should be the name of this website.

So clever to just switch the GAF around like that.

Forreal, some of the posts on gtaforums are actually really racist. I remember seeing a post that was like "Shouldn't Franklin be white?"

Well no wonder when 80% are still kids. They had a poll going on and most where around 15-17 years old.

The majority of posters on there are likely angry 12 year old white kids, so it's no surprise.

I have an account there.

But I'm not 12, and I don't post
