• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

GTA V has gone gold.

Actually, the install thing bothers me too and I'd switch to 360, if I was actually planning to keep it any longer.

Hearing the constant drive noise coming out of the ps3 while my brother plays COD, holy Christ is it annoying.

So yeah, I love full installs.

Digital download helps out

I'll have my copy the next thursday

NEOFAGS should be the name of this website.

"

Truth. Also, anyone want to make a new kickstarter page for a "NEOFAGS" developed JRPG called, "little 10yr old girls dressed up like whores running around f*cking up green goo monsters with special lighting attacks"?

You know, reading through that first page seemed pretty reasonable. But then they started having some fair points. I particularly like this one:

Neogaf has this superiority complex because people hold them to be more knowledgeable than general forum-goers. They were always such snobs and they feel that everything that is "mainstream" is garbage. They talk all day about Pokemon, card games, and games from the 80's. For all I care, they can stop pissing in people's cereal and just enjoy their dumb superiority nerd frats.

They shouldn't but they will. It's all Rockstars fault. /s

I remember during the Hot Coffee thingy, some grandma complained because her underage grandson was playing it and "came across" the minigame. But no one asked her why her underage grandson was playing a game aimed at adults. The fact that a large percentage of the community is made up of kids makes for a bunch of incredibly entitled fuckwits. Like the ones who kept crying and bitching because Rockstar were promoting Max Payne 3 in the lead up to its release instead of V.

Let's get DUDEBRO out of the door first.

Yeah, you got used to them. I used to play the mp races all the time in IV, loved the handling.

Don't get me wrong, im a big fan of the car handling. I also love the ability to control the camera while driving, but i wish there was a middle camera between close and far, and i wish it was notched up a little bit ala GTA 3 like another poster said.

As much as I hate to admit it. There are a fair few people like this on GAF. But there is in the Video Games Society at Uni too...

Pfft, the First Person mod for GTA4 is where the real action is.

I remember during my first replay of GTA IV, at some point I thought "Damn, I didn't learn this map at all, what the hell is the matter with me. Guess I'm getting old." Eventually it dawned on me that it was because of the GPS route feature, always leading me exactly where I needed to go, no effort required from me at all. I turned it off and it's been off ever since. For me one of the funnest things about GTA has always been learning the lay of land to the point where I can navigate through the entire game as if I'm driving around the real city I live in. And GTA V is going to be extra sweet, being an LA native. First thing I'm going to do is turn off the GPS route. (I'll save turning off markers for a replay.)

i've actually learned the gta4 map with gps on , you just have to not use markers when you're not on a mission...
Put your phone on silent , explore , especially when i was looking for all those flying rats. If you're mind is set on exploring , you'll learn the map , gps or not.

After seeing the GTA V ad on tv I have to say I was completely wrong about the most recent trailer. It was underwhelming when I first saw it but seeing it on tv it felt completely different. It just clicked with me as a tv ad.

I'm hardly GAF's biggest fan, but the collective intelligence and education levels on display here are pretty damn high, and for the internet that's about the best you can hope for.

Not to mention that generalizing this entire forum is idiotic. Way too many people with all sorts of views.

Turning off the mini-map in RDR and GTA is one of the best decisions you can make. Only problem is is that a lot of missions are designed with the mini-map in mind, so having the option to toggle it on/off would be best.

I really like the missions described thus far on IGN. The two they talked about today sounded big and open-ended. I doubt every mission will be quite like that, but it's good to know some will be.

I'm a dirty whore for no-HUD gameplay so believe me I've tried. Hours and hours in both and found it pretty much impossible. Just way too easy to lose chunks of time going the wrong path. And goddamn it Red Dead in particular is sooooo sexy without the minimap.

It should totally be toggle-able like you said. Down on the D-pad would work great as they already use it for the zoom-out feature; you could just make it so the minimap fades out after a while; if you need the map, hit down and there it is.

Yeah It sounds like R* are using everything they've learnt this gen to pull it all together.

As far as I remember, the only console versions with custom soundtracks were the old XBox ports (and I'm not sure if that counts for San Andreas). "Independence FM" was missing on both console versions of GTA IV, so I don't think it's that far fetched to assume the same will happen to the console versions of V. I personally don't mind, I got an Astro Mixamp. Hooking up my Spotify playlist isn't as good as actually having those songs as part of a radio station, but it's better than nothing.
The Xbox 360 has the ability to play music across most games. Halo is the only one I know you can't. Is GTA4 also one where you can't play custom music through the Xbox UI?

I just want to be absolutely clear, so I'm sorry for asking a question that's likely already been asked before.

If I have Amazon Prime, will my order will automatically be placed under release day shipping? I don't have to go out of my way to look for it?

Think about every day after the 17th when your shipment won't arrive in time, and you'll have to look at the tracking with everyone else playing it.

Midnight launch, my friend. Pre-ordered and paid in full. And since I live in Yurop I'll be playing this game at least 6 hours before the American homies get a chance.

USA USA USA lolololololol!!

To be fair, generalizing gta forums is idiotic too. They have some of the best analysis for the game that I've ever seen. They catch EVERYTHING.

Yeah that sucks... Saints Row 4 only had like an In Flames song. Where is my metal?!

The only thing that's as bad as having no metal station in these games is when they do have it and it's nothing but modern metal. So depressing.

I really think they missed a big opportunity having a bay area thrash station. Sure that may be san fran technically but it's close enough to LA to cheat.

I love the ability to stream radio in Euro Truck Simulator 2. It's something that every open world game should have.

That would cause a world of problems with licencing and stuff. You can't just stream a radio station for free. Eurotruck gets away with it because it is a niche game on an open platform.
