Microsoft Is So Sorry About How It's Treated Xbox One Fans So Far

Ummm where is the true acknowledgement that their decisions were of no benefit to customers? Where is this sorry the article claims they are trying to spread?
Either it's the fact I've had not even 2 hours sleep or I'm missing something.

It's the article title saying they're sorry, but Larry is just touring to promote the xbox one and standard PR bullshit like they thought was great with the unveiling. Guarantee that bullshit isn't coming back and announce factual information as to HOW they are making up for such bullshit and how they won't flip flop in a year....

FFS Can't a gaming journalist (lol) without fear of being outcast actually ask solid questions and you know put them under the spot light and get conclusive answers. Caring was what they claimed to be doing with the bullshit DRM.
Just like the total horseshit about cloud enabling better graphics lol... It's just typical PR bullshit with nothing but a advertising tour...

I'm not sure.

What I am sure of is you can't get much worse than releasing an average of less than 2 games a year for almost 4 years. Did the N64 even have output that bad? They didn't have third party support to hide behind.

They released plenty of games, both at retail and digitally. They just weren't games that appealed to most of us here.

I don't trust them. It's as simple as that. They've completely pissed away any good will by abandoning 360 gamers and scheming and backtracking with the Xbox One.

What is the end goal in your mind? The complete abandonment of gaming? That doesn't seem like a good strategy.

Not sure at you are suggesting...

Complete abandonment, no. Further marginalization, yes. We are the pimple on the ass of the real market they are chasing. They'll pretend we are important for the first year or two because they need early adopters while the price tag is high. Once the price comes down, and the production level goes up, it will be the 360 post-Kinect all over again.

Hey Microsoft. I'm glad to hear that you're very sorry about all that shit you pulled back when we were dating. Maybe we can be friends again now. I'm not calling off the wedding to Sony though, if you had some crazy idea that an apology would win back my affection instead of just smooth over my ire.

Oh, and Microsoft, Sony's got it where it counts, if you know what I mean.

This is pretty awesome.

I really dislike how they're trying to sell "no longer fucking you" as a selling point.

THIS.
They should try to sell me the idea, that Kinect is worth about 150$ because if at the moment it's worth about 40$ for for trying out fitness stuff that is sure to come and if they only manage to make me believe it's worth 100$ then I'll still buy a PS4 because those possibly more future proof graphics power is worth to me about 50$.

So, don't talk half an hour about how sorry you are, don't make charts about you're no longer fucking with me, SHOW ME how cool your exclusives (console exclusives!) are and how cool the kinect games are going to be. Show me that your UI is the coolest and fastest and how kinect will improve skype video calls family to family or via augmented reality stuff.

Frankly, that's how I see the whole gaming market shifting over the next decade (and arguably, it already has starting with the Wii/DS and moving on to mobile/tablet. There's only so many of us out there to support "core" gaming and as budgets continue to rise, publishers need more potential consumers.

Apology tour? Maybe if you don't try to fuck over consumers from the beginning, you wouldn't be to go on the 180 Switch Flip Apology Tour.

Microsoft is like that hot chick who ocassionally cheats and gamers are like that guy who got to score with her - except it was their first time with a girl ever. They got all clingy and thought they were in a serious relationship. She led them on, pissed them off and now their trying to make her "pay" - except they really want her back. LOL

Except that analgy isn't quite right. I've got to work "control" in there somehow......

Horseshit. They still get there people out there and on this board as recently as yesterday lamenting over their failed messaging. They dont get it, people arent as stupid as they wish they were, it was nothing about the message you arrogant jackasses, it was the truth of what you were trying to do. Everyone saw it, everyone warned them not to try it, they did anyway and now go on about.. Sorry and we just didnt explain things clearly enough.

Everything about them stinks, they need to cut the ahit and get real. Cut the price, put it in writing that they can not reactivate drm or used game blocking on the system in the future, and quit sending their people out on "sorry" and "sorry you misunderstood us" dog and pony shows.

Get fucking real MS or Xbox brand will be over before you know it.

Pre-orders are an outrageous way to buy a console. People need to go personally in a shop, see the console & decide with their eyes.

Anyone who would be preordering has more than enough resources to make an informed decision. Everyone else can do exactly what you suggest.

This is a joke, right?

Of course it is. Check the few Xbox One megathreads that were around during E3 and the months before to see just how "offended" he was.

If he was offended by anything it was people coming in to those threads and saying anything negative about MS.

I'm not that sure if you are even serious... online at the time was too much primitive & 2 ports were an issue? O_O In any case they have introduced the modem some years later when online started to have some relevance.

I played fine with my dreamcast. It wasn't any different from pc online of those years.

Wi fi it's not mandatory to play online.

If they cared so much, they never would have tried to screw consumers in the first place with such abhorrent policies. Which they had every intention of doing, until it met so much resistance that they had no choice but to change course. While I am certainly glad that they did, it still is what it is.

This is like when you join AA you have to go around apologizing to all the people you screwed over when you were a drunk. Microsoft was drunk on power and thought they could pull off all that anti-consumer bullshit. Now they have sobered up and are doing the tour of shame.

Everybody at Xbox is a gamer.

Larry is not even a gamer. Please.

I am genuinely surprised no one has jumped all over this fallacious, deceptive, and biased piece of reporting yet in 4 pages:

The PS4 will cost $399 and feature comparable computing power, high-definition graphics and online features to the Xbox One. Microsoft's console is pricier at $499, but the system comes bundled with a Kinect sensor.

Someone at HuffPo is on the same payroll as Sessler.

sarcasm

an apology is nice after the way they revealed the console and treated us like morons, but I have still been swayed from a xbox fan for two generations back to the playstation. MS will have to show they're serious and I might pick up the xbone in a few years.

Sony got back on everyone's good side after their fit of hubris and idiocy with the ps3, so MS could do the same.

Yup. I just checked again. He welcomed the DRM policies and defended the Xbox One around May-June-July.

If he thought it was awesome then, why is he saying everything is forgiven? Shouldn't he be mad now?

I fully understand that there is bigger money out there than core gaming, believe me. That said, they can chase that money and still provide support and content to the audience who built the platform in the first place. It's the duplicity that bothers me. The pretense of catering to us now, and even now only because the preorders went badly.

Where did they say they were Sorry? Sounds like they are sorry they didn't message their "value" better but I don't see them apologizing to anyone in this article.

Yup, I rather have the old system. You guys are reading way too much into my post btw.

I've already seen enough from Microsoft to make up my mind - I'm staying away from their consoles. Thats it, its been decided, and no amount of backtracking or cap-in-hand shit from Major Nelson is going to change things. The original vision for the Xb1 staggered me, it was a monumental 'fuck you' to the gamers. And when the pre-order numbers started to reflect the hostility expressed by people online, they started to get their house in order, but the damage has already been done, they've showed their hand and now the message is "whoopsie, bit of a mistake with that hehe, check out my other hand".

That doesn't mean I'm a Sony fan either - not in the slightest. But out of the two, I know which one I'd pick if I had to.

Lol at all the angry people over a video game console. Xbox One is going to be fine either way. Apology or not.

I can't wait to get mine at launch. Also LOL at the guy who said you can't preorder consoles, that you need to go inside a store and see it to buy it.

Too little too late.

If you told me 8 months ago that me and my dozen or so friends were all going ps4 only instead of new xbox only I would have called you nuts.

I'll happily take it, but its still going to depend on tone and of course, their continued dedication to doing everything they can to make Xbox One worth every cent of my dosh. And that does not include more television bs.
